Am I the only one who thinks that 1980's Dio vocals are better than 2000's? But I need to say that he really had a very smart technique and his voice changed very natural. I wish every singer such a long career!
Littlejohn133 Ronnie James Dio was and still is (although he'd not like this term at all) an icon and legend in rock and metal circles, he lived the life he talked about, he loved every one of his true fans and we in turn loved him back. From his days in Elf to Rainbow to Black Sabbath to Dio and to Heaven & Hell (essentially 80's Sabbath under a different name), he played out some magnificent music with great musicians but unlike some frontmen, he didn't need those great musicians to build him up and make him look better - he just got them because they wanted to play music with Dio.
One of those icons I watched up while growing. He was incarnation of metal and I remember how I cried alone 3 days in my apartment when he died. With family we talked about Dio like he was our family-member. Saw him once live with Heaven and Hell, had tickets to Finland gig but he sadly passed before it.
For someone to forget Dio, someone must first know who he is, I don’t know a single person in reality who even knew about his existence, and it’s unlikely I’ll ever find such a person lol.
