One of my favorite little scenes is when the Sasquatch trip bounces between the hallucinations and reality, and the Sass family are toobin' down the Strawberry River. Then it flips to reality and you see its actually dark, loud from the raging river, *and you can still hear Jables giggling while drifting down the rapids.*
I saw this movie opening night and then again the next night. Bought the soundtrack the week before so I could memorize the songs and sing along. One of my all time favorite movies.
I shoot and move on to the next project. I'm not involved in the edit. Back in the day, if you didn't buy the DVD, you never saw the bonus features. Now we have RUclips to thank
queefreak Well you got a point. By the way Im also a collector of D merch and props.I have to ask , Did you ever keep anything from the movie set? Like 16mm movie reels or something like that... Anything actually :)
A nice trip down memory lane. I used to like this movie and the D a whole lot, and still do to an extent. It came out right before my 14th birthday so me, my twin brother, and a bunch of friends went to the theater to see it. Good times.
A few things about this movie: I was in 6th grade. Just got my footing in my musical tastes. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, etc. Found this movie and fell in love. I watched it so many times that I can close my eyes and watch it on the back of my eyelids. I blame it for my desire to seek out psychedelics, of which now I am an avid fan as well.
I saw Tenacious D in concert last weekend and it was a spectacle. Jack and KG are so good. Jack has the energy and stage presence of 10 people. The dude gives it 100% effort 100% of the time. Some of the little comedy skits they did between songs were a little weak and forced, but that's the only knock I had. Jacks vocals are very good. He can hit all the notes
I've bought this movie 4 times on DVD and 3 on CD because when i've lent it out .. it never gets returned.. My fav movie & soundtrack of all time... RIP Ronnie James Dio..
I've always joked that if there were a male version of myself it would totally be JB 🤣 all joking aside no matter what anyone says or thinks this is one of the best things ever made! Absolutely love it! JB & KG you guys are so underrated and are definitely musical geniuses!! Much love and respect ❤️
Oh god! How I miss Ronnie J. Dio! You can`t imagine! Just dropped a tear just saw he`s doing here! His voice is unbeaten and so unique! Pat, 50y Vienna Austria!
It's so sad that this movie was bombed by critics. I don't say this a lot since it's such a vague term, but this is easily one of the most soulful movies I've ever seen. It's seeping with the pure passion of everyone involved with it, not just for the movie itself, but for the entire history of the D. I could watch it endlessly and never get bored of it.
So true. I mean it makes sense stuffy “movie critics” wouldn’t understand a movie like this. It’s in the same vein of Rocky Horror Picture Show I feel, initially panned by critics but ends up lasting the test of time because of the passion and genius of it
I don't see any sadness in critic's bombing of this movie, rather, I think the more hate, the better. This movie is not for everybody, and if it were, it probably means it sucked. They could have gone that route and thrown a whole new sappy narrative together with a love scene and then had blink-86 come on and do some new album plug and down the line anchoring to some corporate plugs for funding, but it's rare such a great movie comes along without any whoring.
This movie forged my childhood, my big brother and I used to share a room as kids and we would jam and fall asleep to the Tenacious D album every night on our bunk bed, then in middle school i quoted the movie at least 2x a day
I love Jack Black. I hope he becomes more relative. He has always been one of my favorite actors and I also listen to their Tenacious D album occasionally. He dropped off the movie map for a while but, I feel a comeback shining through the clouds!!!! It is time to find the pick of destiny!!!!!!!!
I'll never forget watching this in the theaters with my dad. For the first time EVER....the theater had only two people in there. ME and my DAD. ROCKIN OUT TO THE D. One of my favorite memories. 🤘

_Pick of Destiny_ is the True Legend of the Rent that Dewey was singing about in _School of Rock._
RIP dio
THIS IS OUT OF THIS PLANET EARTH! FABULOUS! ITS COMING FROM OUTER SPACE FOR ROCK LOVERS AND COMEDY LOVERS!
thank you so much for the up
You're welcome.
I saw this movie opening night and then again the next night. Bought the soundtrack the week before so I could memorize the songs and sing along. One of my all time favorite movies.
TENACIOUS D IN THE PICK OF DESTINY is one of the greatest musicals ever written.
sill the best movie of all time i must have watched it 1000 times
I shot most of this featurette. Never seen it before today. Cool memories.
Wow , how did you not see it before?
I shoot and move on to the next project. I'm not involved in the edit. Back in the day, if you didn't buy the DVD, you never saw the bonus features. Now we have RUclips to thank
queefreak Well you got a point. By the way Im also a collector of D merch and props.I have to ask , Did you ever keep anything from the movie set? Like 16mm movie reels or something like that... Anything actually :)
You mean "lift something from the movie set"? Negative
Why make up complete bullshit? Only a moron would believe you.
This movie only gets better with age! An absolute classic.
2020 is on its way. But I still remember the D.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
On my top 10. I've rewatched this movie too many times. Love it
very very cool!! than you for uploading!
Absolutely loved this movie!
A nice trip down memory lane. I used to like this movie and the D a whole lot, and still do to an extent. It came out right before my 14th birthday so me, my twin brother, and a bunch of friends went to the theater to see it. Good times.
one of the best movies I've ever watched. and it's on that top spot for a while now
A few things about this movie:
I was in 6th grade.
It's sad that it was a box office bomb :(
That still makes no sense to me. I thought it was hilarious.
usually classic movies are always like that. same thing with sandlot, it did terrible at selling but EVERYONE knows that movie is a classic.
A Christmas Story as well which became classic because of TV reruns and VHS copies sold.
Follows the trend of bad box office, but huge cult following picked up after.
But one thing no one thought about was The D will rise again
I saw Tenacious D in concert last weekend and it was a spectacle. Jack and KG are so good. Jack has the energy and stage presence of 10 people. The dude gives it 100% effort 100% of the time. Some of the little comedy skits they did between songs were a little weak and forced, but that's the only knock I had. Jacks vocals are very good. He can hit all the notes
Best movie ever. If I´d have to choose the last movie I´ll watch, this is the one.
Me entering hell after logging on to PBS Kids online games without my parent's permission:

This movie only made 13 million but cost 20 million ??? WTF??? This is one of the best comedies of all time
OMG how have I never seen this before, it's brilliant
Hands down, one of my all-time favorite movies. Tenacious D rocks! 🤘❤️
I've probably watched this movie more times than any other....it's the best
Oh god! How I miss Ronnie J. Dio!
You can`t imagine!
Just dropped a tear just saw he`s doing here!
His voice is unbeaten and so unique!

The director is the real hero man this is a masterpiece
This movie forged my childhood, my big brother and I used to share a room as kids and we would jam and fall asleep to the Tenacious D album every night on our bunk bed, then in middle school i quoted the movie at least 2x a day
Still one of my favourite movies, I’ll never get sick of this movie. 🤘🏼😈🖤🖤
man, girl that had her head covered in this guys brain is so beautifull

I love Jack Black. I hope he becomes more relative. He has always been one of my favorite actors and I also listen to their Tenacious D album occasionally. He dropped off the movie map for a while but, I feel a comeback shining through the clouds!!!! It is time to find the pick of destiny!!!!!!!!
I'll never forget watching this in the theaters with my dad. For the first time EVER....the theater had only two people in there. ME and my DAD. ROCKIN OUT TO THE D. One of my favorite memories. 🤘
Purely epic!! This and Spinal Tap are comedic rock masterpieces!
