Wouldn't it be a disgrace for Soto to pick the Mets over the storied New York Yankees. The organization would truly hit rock bottom if they couldn't give Soto a contract comparable to the Mets, and Soto would be stupid to choose the inferior team. The dude, regardless of team, will be making more money than a human will EVER need in their life, so I think he will go with the team that will win. Yankees need to give him that team.

@@donjohnson504 Mets are in the middle of their hot streak and the Yankees had a horrific month. Easy to say now. The Yankees are like 17 games over 500 and one game back. The Mets after all that are 500 and have no chance to catch the Phillies. The Yankees would need to have their slump last the rest of the season and the Mets would have to play hot (not 500 ball) the rest of the way for that to happen. Look how good each team was at their best and worse. The Mets were worse when they were bad and not as hot when they were good.

10 - Verdugo. I would like to bring him back but it depends on cost and what they do with Spencer Jones. 9 - Cole. He is staying. 8- Rizzo - Option will be declined and he will be brought out. Would love to see him as a bench coach. 7- Kahnle. He is gone at the end of the season. 6 - Holmes. Same as Kahnle though I wouldnt be surprised if they give him the QO. 5 - Torres. Gone as well. Should have traded him in the offseason. 4 - Trevino. He should be traded. They have 4 catchers on the 40. This should be a must. 100% agree with this one. 3 - DJ. No one will take him. I would give him the offseason to recover and see if he can find it again. If not, DFA him. 2 - Soto - would love to see him back and if he goes, this is where I see Verdugo coming back. 1 - Boone. Yes, he needs to go if they dont make it to the WS. Additional people I can see them trading are : Cortes, Grisham, and Brubaker or anyone who will be a FA in 2026 (except Berti. I like him and they need a 3B).

Soto's bat is absolutely irreplaceable and unmatched by anyone but Judge. However his defense concerns me. He's ok at Yankee stadium but as we saw this weekend, when challenged he can get beat. He's gotta improve his fluidity and his change of direction. He's a very muscular guy. But they gotta pay him and Cole is our ace. No question! GT, DJ, Holmes and Boone can go. Changes must be made. He represented a huge upgrade at the position. Cashman passed and now he’s leading off in San Diego. We don’t even HAVE a leadoff hitter. Our front office stubbornly holds on to people who should be moved. Torres, DJ, Rizzo. Just like they did with Clint Frazier, Andujar and Sanchez. C’mon kid you know I’m right. Soto hanging out with Vlad Jr at the ASG, not a good look.

Why not? It’s the all star game and they are trying to have a good time.

I don’t disagree. And then there is ESPN headline that Soto doesn’t know where the future may lead him. Staying very neutral which is very smart for negotiations. But everything screams he goes to the highest bidder. And I don’t think that will be the Yankees. And that’s not a terrible thing. Long term. Yankees need a lot to spread around in the offseason to make this team competitive.
