I was thinking of getting this one but was unsure. Then I thought, "Jim Nicholls will have a video!" And you do. Thank you for this amazing resource on RUclips. I am very grateful.
Love this baby. Picked up my little yellow Hoffman's Canard from intothewind. Epic design that handles the desert gustsRisked my life when she escaped ... climbing a barbed-wire fence and two trees to rescue her (human ie my error.) Just got a nifty yellow/orange/black Prism tube-tail that I've been itchin' to try on Little Yellow, but I think it will detract from the awesome design. Handles the desert gusts with ease. The tube tail can get noisy, causing neighborhood horses to snort! Heheeheh.
Awesome kite & Helen is a Great Gal to talk to. I bought my Killip 45 from her as well as other kites and accessories. I live on the opposite side of the state from PPK where it's dry and arid compared to Omaha!
Yes, Helen is a great person to deal with, and we talk often. Tony Killip is a good designer, and I'd like one of his kites myself, although that probably won't happen.
So nice to see a new kite with such a distinctive design and colours. It looks almost bird-like. You have shown it to be a great flier. I am sure this will be another popular seller.
Not as popular a seller as it might be, Carl. HQ Kites have shortsightedly not produced enough of them, and it will be months before they have more. Dealers with customers lining up to buy them will be a little annoyed, I think.
@@JimNicholls I just got one from into the wind in u.s.a. As well. It does need fair a bit of wind with tube tail I took the tube tail off if the wind not too strong and I would put a long rainbow 🌈 tail it flew well. Love the Canard delta by Hoffman ruclips.net/video/6Uv3OSIXiBY/видео.html
That is a nice kite, the colour scheme really stands out in the sky. Delta's are nearly always good flyers and this kite is looks like a great flyer, it sat serenely in the sky like it had been hung on a hook. I like tubular tails, its the way they flow, I've just been exchanging posts with Glenn in America about tails and contrasting colours, Glenn said black and yellow would be the best colour contrast and almost at the same time you post a video of a black and yellow kite with a tubular tail, what a coincidence.
It's a great design, but they didn't make enough of them, so those who didn't get in early will now have to wait a few months until the next batch are made.
Certainly they were available in Europe, Frank, but the one dealer there that I have close contact with (Metropolis-Drachen) sold all 20 of the kites they had and have been told there will be no more for three months at least. The price was 95 euros. It's quite possible that other dealers still have stock if their sales aren't as brisk as those at Metropolis-Drachen. Clearly, HQ Kites under-estimated the demand. In America, I think Picture Pretty Kites may still have one, and the U.S. price is $129.90. (But you can get 10% off.)
Have had mine out three times now, and every time I put it away its 2-3 inches too long for the bag. Missing something here, even tried refolding it after I got home. Surely it's me and not the kite/bag.
I hate kite bags which are too short, Hal. Unfortunately, many of them don't easily take a kite after it has been flown, and it's sometimes hard to see why. I've kept my Canard Delta partly assembled, but I'll have a look and see if I can work out what the problem is with this. If I get an answer, I'll email you.
I'm not greatly enamored of the tube tail either, Hal, but I'll probably use it sometimes. That transition should look good. HQ could have made the kite a bit cheaper by making a ribbon tail instead, or offering the kite without a tail and letting buyers choose their own if they wanted one.
As it says right at the beginning of the video, the kite was designed by Rainer Hoffmann and made by HQ Kites. I don't know if anyone has tried to make his own version yet, but I certainly haven't seen any plans.

You are very welcome. If you buy the kite, I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Sounds as if you're having fun, but try not to let it escape again!
Wow...majestic as looking kite....
I've got a red one, too. See here: ruclips.net/video/LSjqa8EY_gw/видео.html .

nice kite Jim. very stable and I like the tube tail...
Yes, I was very pleased with it.
Very unusual design. I quite like that!
In very short supply, Nigel, so if you want one you'll have to be quick.
Thats a nice Kite Jim. Nice design good colours a flys very well. So does Canard type aircraft, But I have never flown one.
I've not even seen a canard-style aircraft, Graham. I hope you're getting to fly your plane a few times now that summer has arrived.

Good colours indeed, Ian. And a good kite.
great looking kite

Jim Nicholls well I Can get one here 😉
You're lucky. I know of one dealer who had 20, sold them quickly, and can't get more.
but it's expensive though....😏
Hi Jim I like the canard kite it looks impressive ,How much are they and can they be bought in Europe?

very good

Personally not a fan of the tube tail. Flies fine with the tube, but may get a 24' yellow transition tail for mine.

Nice one - did you make it yourself, if so care to share the plans?

Jim Nicholls must've missed it... thanks its a nice kite, will try to make my own v of it anyways. Thx.
