    This Bach interpretation always gives me chills; strong brush stroke of Hahn did it 😍

    8:40 and seq. are just amazing. Perfect articulation; Perfect style; Perfect colour; Perfect phrasing; grand and poetic together, without doing too much. She is truly the best, and by very far.

    A great interpretation, very original and with personality... energetic, with fine spaces between notes and phrases, though not splitting the lines. That’s great craftsmanship, intellectual and emotional level.
    She plays with willpower, self confidence and a clear intention, as Mr. Pitborn mentioned, far above any stiff and mediocre academic consent about „how one has to play Bach“.
    To hear this makes this day a better day! :)
    I guess it’s one if not my favorite interpretation.
    Thanks to Mrs. Hahn und Vater Bach, dem grössten Genie der Musik.

    Bach must have had a VERY happy period of his life in Koethen. This interpretation, in Hahn's typical perfection, expresses so much joy, optimism, energy - unmasked yet non-trivial happyness. It is so extremely adequate, beyond all pea-counting and pale-faced historicism which our times still suffer from. That may reach the advocates of mediocrity, but not a soloist like Hilary Hahn. It is my conviction that Bach would have been delighted with this splendid violin sound: It is this what he really meant - if you ask me. Bach and violin both at their best.

      "unmasked yet non-trivial happyness. It is so extremely adequate, beyond all pea-counting and pale-faced historicism which our times still suffer from. That may reach the advocates of mediocrity,..." . Such a critique deserves some comment - and I would if I understood it. One moment that did come to mind was Groundskeeper Willie, the Scottish misanthropist in the 'Simpsons', rendering a pastiche on Julie Andrews ' 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly' - only substituting 'adequate' for 'loverly'. Hilary Hahn, you've been rumbled. You're not a virtuoso at all - you're just extremely adequate.

      Yes when Mutter was been a pupil of karajan because now she is still a great violinista bute she plays without feeling for music, it s all nevrotic. I miss young A,S, Mutter..Maybe Jansen is another great but Hann music intelligence is on another planet. No effects no stupid nuances ..it s all really great great music and sound.

      @@Mary-kv2hv That's a tough call. Fischer can also play concert level piano. She's incredibly talented. I love the no nonsense approach of Hahn. She's expressionless throughout her performances. She's all business. I like that, too. But, as I say, it's impossible for me to call. I imagine if a performance by either of them were going down, I'd be just as happy either way. Hillary Hahn has more of a presence on You Tube than Julia Fischer, making her music easier to access.

    Quite extraordinary technique to be able to articulate clearly at such speed, but I need to ask....WHY?? If you get out of your head for a moment the expectation (brought on originally I think by the period music brigade) of breathless speed as an attempt to inject energy and arrest the interest of today's short attention span society.....and then listen to Arthur Grumiaux.
    A perfectly respectable pace, but one that allows more room for the harmonies to breathe and be heard. Maybe less impressive, but much more satisfying.

    • @charlesrhodes1358
      @charlesrhodes1358 5 лет назад

      Yes. The harmonic complexity is lost on the ear at this speed.

    • @no.one.two.
      @no.one.two. 4 года назад

      I thought the same, somehow I can't find my way with Hilary's Bach interpretation. For me it's played a bit too broad and "laid back". Grumiaux is my favourite when it comes to Bach, he plays with such articulation and precision and keeps the notes short, just really captures the whole picture.
