  • LeBron James will soon be entering his 7th season with the Los Angeles Lakers and his run with LA has included many highs and many lows. From winning the NBA Championship in 2020 to missing the playoffs entirely in 2022. Now for most franchises winning one championship would be enough, but this is the Lakers and this is LeBron. So when looking back on LeBron's run with the Lakers so far, has it been a success?

I remember a serious narrative when he joined the team that he was going to play out his twilight on a rebuilding team, and that his choice to go to LA was a business choice to network and make movies to solidify his post-playing career. To say that with that initial expectation LeBron didn’t meet expectations is obviously incorrect. However, things changed when AD joined, timeframe accelerated and they started competing, and LeBron didn’t age as fast as expected. You could say only winning one ring in five years with AD is disappointing, but again, not a single soul expected a dynasty when LeBron went to the Lakers and a lot of people didn’t expect a championship. The front office will do whatever this man says because he brings in the money and that’s both a positive and a negative. Anthony Davis is the Lebron pleasure and that’s the only reason he’s here, once Lebron retires AD will be traded at first opportunity. It's just hard to judge because the media is so obsessed with the Lakers. The run's been underwhelming, but it isn't helped with the media talking about them every other day. Because the Lakers should have easily put the Nuggets to bed. They led in all 5 games for 115 mins +. They lost 2 games with the final possession and blew a 20 point lead in one. The Lakers were dominant but still fell apart in the end. The 2023 playoffs is definitely the media hyping them up.

They brought in AD to help Lebron, also getting a franchise piece for when Lebron retires. 3. They reached the conference championship twice and has the most hated championship team of all time in 2020 ( I know it was in the bubble but I don't care, it's still a championship where they the best team the entire season). The Russ move, among others, Lebron and AD becoming injury prone, and front office incompetence ruins what could've been one of the best eras in Lakers history.

There’s a reason Wilt Chamberlain values stats over winning; and his stock has gone down since Championship value has gone up. It especially has in the Lebron James era when media/social media has come way up and the narratives of Lebron having to win a Ring to be considered the GOAT, etc.

As a Lakers fan it was a success for LeBron as a Laker. You have to remember when Lebron James came to the Lakers everybody said that he only came to the Lakers because of Hollywood and nothing else and how he was out of the championship winning business. But within the second year of being with the Lakers he wins the championship that's successful right there the Pelicans that the Lakers gave a whole haul to for Anthony Davis having even gotten out of the first round of the playoffs as of yet since the trade for Anthony Davis in 2019. Most of the failures that happen with the Lakers is with upper management especially Rob Pelinka with his knee jerk movement with the overhaul with the roster especially that trade with Russell Westbrook which I thought when I first heard it I knew it wasn't going to work out because how we played against him when he was with Houston. But if you ask me as a Lakers fan was it success I say yes because we won a championship in the process of LeBron being here with the Lakers. Oh Yes Frank Vogel should've still been the Head Coach for the Lakers and I have been saying that since he was let go.
