A male leopard, known as Hosana to safari guides, and a hyena are feeding on the body of a pregnant ungulate. They stole the kill from the leopard’s half-sister, named Thandi. Both tear at the carcass to eat as quickly as possible, in an opportunistic tug-of-war. The big leopard is called Tingana, who is the father of Hosana. A three-way leopard standoff ensues. The carcass, stolen for the second time, seems to be in the firm grasp of Tingana. Hosana and Thandi wait at the bottom of the tree in case the big leopard drops his prize. Tingana victoriously urinates on the ground below, marking his territory.

When it comes to food, some animals don't like to share! What are your thoughts on this standoff?
AMAZING!!!
Pretty cool. But the accent in that colonizers narration kept the authenticity of this epic encounter to a minimum.
I believe THIS is why sometimes hyenas (plus lions and in other countries, wolves, bears etc.) eat their food when it is sometimes still alive? They have to eat so very quickly or it gets stolen! It's not a decision, just an instinct, eat now or maybe not for days!?
I think Tingana is a BOSS! Remember me Ted Bailey's book report on interaction btwn leopards and hyenas especially M23 male.

It’s nice to share.

The power of that cat is unbelievable. It isn't easy for me to get a dressed deer carcass from the woods to my truck unless I'm on a 4 wheeler. And that's on flat ground. That cat just hauled the carcass up a tree, using nothing but his mouth to hold it, in less than 2 seconds. Unreal.

I agree that is isn't pleasant to see from our perspective, but i don't think morality is what makes us human. Humans were not always moral, and we survived for over 100,000 years of evolution without the morals that we follow today.
