This channel is ridiculously insanely fucking awesome. Cool effects and good information, but the hosts are just perfect. I love their music and it is a unique experience to hear your favorite musicians unfiltered thoughts on sound, no rhetoric or mystique
I've come back to this vid so many times over the years, the vibe is just so relaxed. Also, you saved me like 10 bucks for not having to buy strap locks
my friends, a non angled cable is the only one that makes sense, when using a Stratocaster. these have a input that Is not flat. but great tips here! life savers.
Yes...i've been a SG with angled cables guy for a decade..it was probably the least favourite practicality of my strat. That and the volume button..but I learned to live with it.
Awesome tips guys....another really cheap strap fix I use . Heat the screw with a lighter a little bit..and send the screw through a pick and use it the same way Nick uses washers. I've been doing it for 15 years and never a problem, they are always on hand...and you don't have to steal a Washer from the drummer....I hope Dr octagon is coming to Providence or Boston!
Are EB polypro straps and rubber washers (from a plumbing store, much thougher than the Grolsch beer ones) safe? Haven't had a problem yet, but Im wondering if I should instead do it the Nick way and consider a strap with thougher ends?
I still do that string trick another one is with a Floyd rose you string it backwards with the ball end through the tuners and wind all the slack on em and when you break a string at the bridge you just unwind a little slack and lock it in and tune it boom you can recycle your strings till there so dead you gotta change em
The toothpick trick is a great old fashioned way to fix stripped wood. It acts as a dowel in the cavity, but if the hole is beyond dry-fitting a toothpick/wood shard, you can add wood glue to the toothpick and it’ll cause the wood to swell from the water in the glue and bind a tighter glue joint. Then you can drill a fresh hole.
Awesome to see Juan is using the Grolsch-method! Ive been using it forever and always get crap from my buddies for being a cheap bastard! :) Also, I'm dutch (as is Grolsch) and i'ts my favorite beer as well! Cheers, Juan!
Great advice , most practical and affordable way to secure your instrument! However I've moved on to Lock-It guitar straps(no modifications required) , they're not crazy expensive , except for their leather strap version (overpriced) , Tried all the other strap lock systems , and they fawking sucked !
I was at a somewhat big event that happens every year in my territory with a pretty popular band playing and the guitar player had his cable exactly like how Nick showed off here. Not under the strap and not using the right angle cable end. My friend who just learned how to play some guitar pointed it out and was like "What the fuck is he even doing".
I play a tele and a top jack guitar live, and the right angle won't fit in a tele jack so when I switch to the top mounted guitar I have to look like a tool😑
Cheers lads My tip? ALWAYS unplug leads from guitars and amps and headphones when not in use, saves broken things etc especially jacks and sockets Geeks
my bass player commits party foul without thinking. I bought him a right-angle cable to use and he'll without thinking get the cable backward, use the straight side for instrument, and not wrap around the strap. Dude!
Hey +PedalsAndEffects! I stumbled upon an interesting pedal. And I would like to see if you can operate on that mysterious pedal. It is the Possessed pedal by masf. It doesn't include specific knobs like volume, delay or glitch. Instead it presents knobs by the 5 senses. Each knob is named respectively as: sight, smell, taste, touch & hearing. And that's all. It's a confusing one isn't it? So, have a test of it. Let's see. I don't know how to use it either. Maybe if you may, please have a review on it. Thank you! For those of you who doesn't know MASF - Possessed pedal google and watch its videos by guitar players. If you find it peculiar, please let PedalsAndEffects know, it's a different pedal. Request to him a review so you can also watch how to use it.
nick repping that old school goatse action lmao
that fuckin wink
And just like that, Nick Reinhart causes several unaware guitarists to google goatse.
Aaaaaah got me again nick!
Nick is like the cool friend of the older brother I never had.
I use the Planet Waves elliptical end pins...but I guess I'm not rocking hard enough.
the fucking camera work is exceptional
That pick on the carpet thing is awesome. This would have saved me at least $0.75 over the last 35 years! Seriously, it works. Thanks!
I think Steve Vai also does that
Paul Gilbert trick

I found this channel through the Spencer seim video. I really hope you guys come back regardless of the format or style
nick with the goatse shoutout

i can't stop watching this video. Please upload more vids of you guys just chilling and talking
Pro-Tip: Don't google the hole he tells you to google.
FUCKIN GOATSE; NICK YOU ABSOLUTE MAD MAN
my friends, a non angled cable is the only one that makes sense, when using a Stratocaster. these have a input that Is not flat.
but great tips here! life savers.
angled cables work on strats too
Ohh yes..they do.. but I find it more ergonomically correct with a straight one.
arguably my least favourite part of my strat.
Yes...i've been a SG with angled cables guy for a decade..it was probably the least favourite practicality of my strat. That and the volume button..but I learned to live with it.
I don't know why I watch this but I feel like I'm standing right behind Juan.
I rock the grolsch also.
One of the best guitar videos I've seen in a while!
I had a dream Nick was my uncle and he taught me how to play 40 rods. It was pretty epic.
Awesome tips guys....another really cheap strap fix I use . Heat the screw with a lighter a little bit..and send the screw through a pick and use it the same way Nick uses washers. Playing Boston tomorrow night!
Ill Hopefully be there. Rock on!
Nick said on his Twitter that first song of the first gig of his newest tour... HIS STRAP CAME OFF HAHAHAHA!
Went into a liquor store and asked for a goatse....
Grolsch ever since I've been playing! Grew up 15 kilometers from their (original) factory in Enschede (the Netherlands).
Are EB polypro straps and rubber washers (from a plumbing store, much thougher than the Grolsch beer ones) safe? Haven't had a problem yet, but Im wondering if I should instead do it the Nick way and consider a strap with thougher ends?
Leiria65 That will be fine.
Thank you
Right angled cables spin in their holes more so its better to use a straight end if you're not going to secure it.
I still do that string trick another one is with a Floyd rose you string it backwards with the ball end through the tuners and wind all the slack on em and when you break a string at the bridge you just unwind a little slack and lock it in and tune it boom you can recycle your strings till there so dead you gotta change em
I like the right angle side of the cable to go into my pedals. Not sure if instrument cables come with both right angles?
Nick is the reason my family had to leave California.
Thank you guys for reminding me. You know, i had a locking strap in my old guitar, but in my new strat i haven't done this yet.
My only reason for not using a right angle is because I use a tele and the right angle doesn't stay properly in the jack
Diego Bustamante same
thx for keeping me in check
Nick is my favorite person.
"Peep This Scene"
You can't really use a right angle cable with most Teles or Strats, but I really prefer using them. It looks so much better and just makes sense.
this is maybe the best vid i ever saw
Lol I’ve never once In thirty years worried about what end of a lead I plug into my war axe… …but hey what ever strokes yr pigeon. Cool vid
also... can we get Paul on the show, talk about Racer x days, stuff like that
Awesome to see Juan is using the Grolsch-method! Ive been using it forever and always get crap from my buddies for being a cheap bastard! :) Also, I'm dutch (as is Grolsch) and i'ts my favorite beer as well! Cheers, Juan!
Sorry!!!
Dont apologize just because my buddies are straplock elitist bastards :) great tip on the toothpicks as well by the way!
A right angle cable on a 1/4 jack on the top of the guitar sometimes unscrews the washer in the input jack. Right angle has that leverage, bro.
Shaungudgud *Output jack, and that makes no sense.
what new balace model is this?
Grolsch is dutch beer!! Other than that great vid guys keep em coming! You guys crack me up whahah
My bad!

i use the straight in my bass bc i have too many pedals on my board and need the right angle to sneak it into my pedal chain...
Straight angle cables work better with strat style input jacks.
what about strats. The right angle is weird for that
I've been meaning to get a right angled Jack for my mustang for forever, I'm so paranoid that eventually I'll wack it with my hand
What type of strap is that?
Thanks papa nick
I'm with Juan on the Grolsch beer grommits :)
The straight cable keeps the tremolo bar close at hand.
I wanna hear more about jeff. can't seem to find much about worms
this is so fucking good nick thank you man
You could slip skateboard bearing covers right over the strap and be bueno. That and you get 8-16 each time you get new bearings
Gotye's gaping hole?
You're touring with Dr. Octagon? Nice.
Fucken love these blokes
Nicks savage as fuck in this video
Straight angles for strats!
Straight cables for Strats?
yes!
Bro I was watching this in the bathroom and someone walked in at 4:44 and thought I was straight gooning full volume
I play a tele and a top jack guitar live, and the right angle won't fit in a tele jack so when I switch to the top mounted guitar I have to look like a tool😑
dunlop straplok- easy to install, light, and cheap
why would you smash your custom guitar out of any of the other guitars?
B-Regs Productions because rad as fuck
Cheers lads
My tip? ALWAYS unplug leads from guitars and amps and headphones when not in use, saves broken things etc especially jacks and sockets
Geeks

How dare you!? There's NOTHING wrong with Mr. Bungle! Now we need a how to (Mr.) Bungle your guitar
Start off playing death metal, learn Jazz and circus music, throw in some dissonance, done.
@@drpibisback7680 you forgot to include surf rock, middle eastern music and music concrete 🤣 otherwise 100% on point
toothpicks on the bottom strap is for suckers. drill the hole longer and put a big ol 2" wood screw in.
1/8” hole through two medium guitar picks. Thank Jon Spencer.
You need the straight ones for Stratocasters
Of course Nick knows Goatse.
Classic 2000’s bait and switch.
Also, that beer top thing was pretty rad.
If you don't have access to Grolsch bottle washers, Fender sells their own version for a few bucks.
Genius genius genius
goetse hole, LOLOL. this is so fun to watch
Hahah he was wearing that hat when I met him in June
Damn Nels use those rubber thing from Grolsch bottles so he's uncool?
hmm, that note on economy strings... wow.
got to be Fckn kiding me 😂 I though I was the inventor of the cheap 'straps' trick
Nick: what pedal did you use to time compress at the 5 min mark?
Preach
If you have a strat you need a straight cable, actually
Hah! I did the economy strings for years!
Shout out to Grolsch AND Goatze.

Strap locks blown the fuck out
Super glue and toothpicks! If you don't put the cord through the strap your fired.
If you didn't spend so much money on effects then maybe you could afford some decent strap locks 😂
that strap is literally six miles wide
Shoutout to goatse.jpg
SUM BASIC ASS BULLSHIT I BEEN PULLIN SINCE AGE 11
Hahaha GOATSE!!! Hahahah
Everyone definitely google goatse
Reinhart was -can't say he still is, don't know- one awful cameraman...
Cmon Nick that is not good enough for your gear man
"lock that shit up. for christ's sake.
