As an IKEA sales employee you can imagine how many times I’ve been at work and planned how I would use something for plants 😂 Right now I have only one cabinet (FABRIKÖR), but I use the BESTÅ system I my living room as a plant table/side console, VÄXER grow lights with the cheap MELODI pendant lamp and the new LINDÅSEN wall shelf which is really cute for my smaller plants. Of course I buy most of my ceramic pots from there as well. I plan on upgrading to a MILSBO cabinet with SKADIS system for my small hoyas. The price is steep, but employee discount helps a little bit 😅 I’ve seen a lot of people also using the VITTSJÖ shelves for plants! Our store actually has a cute “flower shop” at the plants section where they styled a MILSBO cabinet with fake plants and everything. Many of my colleagues also love houseplants and we keep each other in the loop if something new is coming that we could use for plants 😂
Ohhhh that is so cool! Ikea here in Belgrade definitely doesn't have a cute flower shop at the plant section. A lot of the items are discontinued/ out of stock here. I wanted to buy VITTSJÖ shelf, no longer available here. Wide Milsbo, tall Rudsta, discontinued. We only have tall milsbo and wide rudsta and all other cabinets have been removed from the website. Even the OMAR baskets! We don't even have the normal omar shelves anymore, just wide ones (50cm or so). And we never got the growlights here :')
@@BasiePlants Yeah the FABRIKÖR got discontinued right at the same time when the plant cabinet boom started here in Finland 🥲 We are finally getting MILSBOs again and keeping it stocked pretty well. Covid and the war in Ukraine really messed the availability for a long time. Luckily at least here in Finland people tend to resell the cabinets and you can usually find second hand what you are looking for if something is discontinued. The As-Is or Fynd section has model and return pieces and buy back items. Sometimes you can make pretty good finds there. I’ve also rescued too many orchids from there 🙈😂 It gets expensive to be working at IKEA, when you see all the new things and have to run to buy them after work 😂
I use the KALAS toddler plastic dinner plates (6 plates for $2.99 USD) for slipping under my plants on watering days. They are deeper than traditional plant saucers and hold quite a bit of water overflow. I bought 3 packs so I have enough to do half of my plants at a time, and clean up is a breeze since they are dishwasher safe.
I love TISKEN to put plants right by my window. They have suckers that firmly adhere to glass and smooth surfaces. I have been testing them out for 2+ years and so far they have not fallen yet. The unavoidable will happen some day, but until then im using them and I love how they look w/ Hoyas in 😂
The nearest IKEA to me is 2.5 hours away so I rarely shop there. However I still found this video helpful because of all of the ideas you presented Thanks Miro!
🤣😆I just love your videos! The one fertilizer I am super loving is Osmocote Plus. About two weeks after I sprinkled this on top of the soil of all my plants they started growing faster. My Peace Lily is blooming again after 4 years of no blooms. The only ones it didn’t seem to make a difference on were my Wayetii and Caudata Sumatra. I don’t think they are ever going to grow. I have a clothes rack on wheels that I use to hang plants on and also door clothes hooks to hang smaller ones from since I’m in an apartment and can’t drill holes all over. So I agree we don’t need to be using these items as they were intended to be used. Have a good week Miro. Hair looks awesome!
I don't have a tip on blooming kentiana/ wayetii, but maybe for caudata higher humidity can help :) It is supposed to be a very easy hoya to bloom - mine bloomed after 3-4 months from a cutting. Also, they want a bit more water. :) Hope it helps!
@@BasiePlants Yes it does help. I will try putting it on my patio outside then if it likes more humidity. I’m in Florida so it will get plenty out there. 😁
Yeah, I'm also deep in the "IKEA swamp" on things to use in my home. Basically, all my furniture is from IKEA. So far, I'm using 2 Milsbo cabinets (with custom-made shelves) and 4 Hyllis shelves for my plants (Hoyas and Syngoniums). /The Swedish Hoya Dude
Well, to be fair, it would be offensive to be a Swede and not have the majority of Ikea furniture. And plus stuff that is discontinued in many places is still available there. 😩 So unfair! :D
@@BasiePlants Completely fair, imho, swedes should have privileges for living in the home of IKEA. Maybe you should consider relocating to Sweden. It would be perfect for you, the home of both IKEA and The Swedish Hoya Society. The amount of crazy huge Hoya collectors / capita here, is mindblowing.
It is 2 hours away from me and I have only been 3-4 times. I usually order stuff online but this was the first time I went there and there was something actually good in the "As is" section.
Boooo not enough hoya content in this video 😂 Loved the video anyway, you're such an engaging presenter I could watch any video you make regardless of the topic!
New channel name: Miro with the step stool.
I would totally subscribe to a "Miro talks about step stools" channel 😂

''... I'm not getting more orchids.'' YET. One way or another, you are :D
Oh I definitely am 😂 And I cannot wait!
Thank you for such a great video. I have never been to an IKEA. One is about 45 minutes away. Guess I’ll give it a try.
for the price of the cabinets, they should have holes already in them for cords, they should sell other options for shelves, come with lights etc
I agree :D But people always tell me I am cheap xD So idk. The prices have gone up, they are so crazy now for everything honestly!

Step Stools of the world!!
"Am I the wicked witch of the west?" I died 😂🤣
Abd we never found out. 😅

You make my day ! And get the orchids! Why should I be the only person breaking my own rule! 😂🎉❤
👏👏👏👏 excellent , informative content Miro , practical, creative… very useful!! IKEA should collaborate with you!!😉
Haha :D I agree they should! 😂
Thank you for the video, I was given a wooden shelf recently, I guess its Ivar. I like it a lot. Never been to Ikea.
It is a pretty cool shelf and very adjustable! :)
Obozavam tvoj youtube kanal ❤️ stvarno si smesan Miro . 😂😂 Puno pozdrava iz Svedske 🌷
Hvala
Wait! You have Hoya books???? What ones do you have and where can I get them????
It's real windy here in Texas too
That day when I was recording there were even roof shingles flying around :S
@@BasiePlants wow
I used the wrong type of paint and now there are tiny red paint specks all over my apartment from knocking my step stool on corners and walls. 😂
Oh no! Mine doesn't have that, but some paint did get removed from me banging it on the bed in attempts to put it under.
The nearest ikea is 90 minutes drive so I have never even been in one. But now I am thinking of it.
It is 2 hours away from me and I have only been 3-4 times. I usually order stuff online but this was the first time I went there and there was something actually good in the "As is" section.
can you release beneficials into am ikea cabinet?
Sadly we don't have access to beneficial insects here so I don't know. But I don't see why it would be an issue :)
I've been trying to find the metal customized shelves (10 bucks) for the cabinets without any luck. Would appreciate any and all help.

I've somehow managed to make the Milsbo look cluttered and messy. 😂
The Skadis Hoya pegboard is one of the best ideas you've ever given me. It just looks so cool.
This message was also for you, Miro. I am not talking to myself. 😂
Oh, mine is too :D
I am glad you informed me. 😂 Skadis is very cool. But men does that get pricey.
How did you know I’m going to ikea today?
I think that proves it I'm a witch 😂
