I own a 2021 Jetta S 6speed manual with the 1.4. Recently reached 40k miles. No issues. Blast to drive. Roomy, upscale interior, comfy seating, big trunk and excellent gas mileage. On a recent trip from Chicago to Toronto, I averaged 52 mpg. Quiet at 75 mph. Averaging 40 mpg suburban driving.
Thanks Mattman. I am looking for a 1.5t sport 2024, but concerned about its maintenance cost and resale value. It need not be as good as a Toyota or Honda but what is its depreciation value 3 years down the line. Or should I consider a used BMW 330i for a new Jetta instead if this can get me a good resale value.
Hi. Now at 50k and still no issues. Love my Jetta. The '21s had the first 30k maintenance covered. My VW mechanic did not like the way my rear brakes were wearing and replaced them at no cost. The car is aging well. Replaced the tires last month. Could not be more satisfied
Hey bro i have new 2024 jetta , when i give acceleration its lag at first and then pick up the speed , is this normal or is there any problem, There is no pickup problem when i put it on sport
I have a 2023 sport that I bought new with a 6 speed manual with the 1.5 turbo, and was $22K out the door. It's a blast to drive around town, gets excellent mileage, has the technology package with the adaptive cruise control. Everything you want and nothing you don't. Fantastic car.
Went to VW yesterday and helped him get a ‘24 Sport. This is a good little car. Drives really well and when you get into the sport mode, it’s got a little hustle. My son’s it look more mature than the competition and tendons t like the CVT in other cars.
The Jetta Sport does have a slightly lowered suspension compared to the S, SE and SEL. And the Sport also comes with the electronic front differential (not the mechanical like the GLI). That would be my pick simply because I feel the front tires spin out far to easily with the low-end torque from the turbo.
I think the tire spin has alot to do with the cheap tires that come on these new. I think throwing a set of good tires on that have actual grip would solve that problem. I plan on putting new tires on my 21 Jetta as soon as the original ones wear out. Unfortunately, the original tires seem to be holding up quite well at 26k so I can't justify buying a new pair yet!
@@MorganAllenPiano awesome, brother, great news. hopefully you will make a video review. my wife owns the Taos, but i want a Jetta S for myself with the six speed manual, maybe later this year.
And I don’t know if you mentioned but it has a great MPG. I had a 2020 Jetta SE and I could get 45, 46 MPG doing 75 to 80 mph easily without being a hybrid. I once got it to 52 MPG going 60 to 65 mph
the 8 speed automatic sport has some kick to it. I had zero issues passing people on the highway while going uphill. I'd love to try the GLI out for a spin
Drove the GLI and regular model, which in my opinion is a better choice. The GLI actually has too much power for a fwd car with low grade tires. I totally agree that the non cvt transmission greatly adds to the driving enjoyment of this car. The transmission responds very well to throttle inputs and shifts very smoothly.
Thanks for this extensive video. Helps me a lot. I am looking for a 1.5t sport 2024 6 speed manual, but concerned about its maintenance cost and resale value. After 3 years down the line, am not sure how many would prefer to go for a used 6-speed manual Jetta. Regarding the resale, it need not be as good as a Toyota or Honda but what is its depreciation value 3 years down the line. Am also thinking to I consider a used BMW 330i for a new Jetta instead if this can get me a good resale value and if the maintenance cost of Jetta sport will be close to BMW. Thanks in advance.
Manual's are hard to find and people still want them. I think these will hold their value much much better than you might think. Great cars. Don't hesitate. Insane mpg.
In order to match the competition's standard equipment, you have to go to the SEL, which takes you out of the compact pricing and into the medium size class. The car looks great, and I've sold VW's in the past, so I like the brand, but to me, the value just isn't there. All my cars have had navigation and satellite radio, which combined, are only available on the SEL.
I wonder why Canada and USA have different trims. Ex in Canada the sport option is only available on the "comfort line" trim and that comes with the full cockpit pro, leather interior, sunroof etc
I had a 2021 Jetta S 6-speed manual. Bought it new and had no problems. As much as I basically liked it, the things that made me trade up to a 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE were the lousy suspension the Jetta has. Very bumpy when going over bumps. It also felt cheaply built and plasticky. Like it could break like a toy at anytime. Having the tiny 1.4 turbo engine seemed like a problem just waiting to happen. Finally - it was pretty uncomfortable to sit and drive in over long periods of time. Didn’t like the cheap materials that are used in VWs. My new Camry Hybrid addresses all of these problems. So happy I traded up to the Camry before things started going wrong and wearing out on the Jetta. Also, driving the manual 6-speed became tiresome, but that was the only way to get any real power. The automatic version is very sluggish to drive comparatively.
Really nice car at a good price, but I don't want to have to spend thousands more to get satellite radio. I don't know any other manufacturer than doesn't offer it as an option on any model.
It's a Dark Horse because it's actually a slightly short Mid-size sedan pretending to be the biggest Compact car you can get. Seriously, compare its dimensions to a Toyota Camry. Yes, the Jetta is shorter.... literally by several inches only.
13:16 "European Steering & handling"🤡 Steering is as vague and numb as can be. It uses electric power steering so there's 100% zero feedback through the steering. Additionally, being electric power steering makes it have extremely light steering, way too light. The average joe isn't probably going to notice a thing but not me. I daily an E92 M3, probably one of the best steering BMWs (Even BMW switched to electric after the E90 chassis)...
Test drive a new Civic, Corolla, Elantra, and the Jetta and return with your observations. You're driving an M3 on a near 20 year old platform with hydraulic steering. Obviously the handling and steering is going to be different. Comparing an E92 M3 to a 2024 Jetta is like comparing an M4 GT3 to a DTM E30 M3.
About this car…does the timing belt(1.5) require the 40k replacement of the older belt driven vws, what is the current remedy for carbon build up on the intake side of the engine…is it still a 1500 crushed walnut shell blasting, and have been able to keep the long term ownership cost on par with their competitors…not talking about lame 1,2, or 3 yr nonsense…100, 150, 200k . Asking for a friend….
VW says 180k for timing belt. All GDI engines no matter the brand suffer from carbon build up. I use CRC GDI valve cleaner every 30-40k (super easy) and so far all by VWs are running like new. This particular engine is excellent for what it's designed. Lots of torque and excellent gas mileage, what else can you ask for in a comfortable, roomy commuter.
Terrible review you didn't mention the xds electronic differential system that's only available on the Sport and GLI trims. No mention of seat comfort.
It also has the electronic actuated cross differential that helps with wheel spin. The S, SE, and SEL do not have that. The GLI has the mechanical front diff.

how's your Jetta Sport?
@germanlopez9448 picked it up just last week. Love it! Smooth ride. Sound system/speakers not the best though. ACC and travel assist are cool too.

Where can I find a similar type review for the 2024 TAOS?

No, they are fixed to the top of the seat back.

Their torque converted autos are made by aisin. Prob just fine for a long time.

I think the civic is going to run a lot better but will drive better. But that doesn’t mean a Jetta sport isn’t bad. Drive both.
Run more money I meant

The Jetta sport does have , a lower suspension. You should have known that.
It’s not sport tuned. If you walk into a Sport thinking it’s better performing from a handling perspective than the SE or SEL then you were mislead.
It is lower compared to the S model and has a larger front anti-sway bar per Car & Driver.
It also has the electronic actuated cross differential that helps with wheel spin. The S, SE, and SEL do not have that. The GLI has the mechanical front diff.
There's nothing German about this car anymore...it's made in Thailand and Mexico.
However.......is used too much? 🤣
why isn’t it push to start 🥲
cuz it's a base model.
SE trim and up come with push start.
