    Wow that's a steal! We can't get Ektachrome here for under €30 if it's even available.
    Beautiful shots, Molly. That park scene was mint.

    This was great! I’ve never shot color slides outside, so I have to try it now for sure. I absolutely love those realistic colors! So vibrant! And I don’t blame you being fascinated by that light through the trees! I probably would have shot at least 10 frames there. 😂❤️🌲🌳

    Your roll turned out great, I like that green-blue tint on the photos and those fog shots of course 😅 I haven't shot any Ektachrome outdoors yet.

    I am glad you got some of this film. The only thing better than Ektachrome was Kodachrome but that is something we will never see again. You did a great job with it. I have three rolls in the fridge waiting for me to finish what is currently loaded in my EOS 3. It is a joy to shoot slide film. And you are right the grain is negligible. The colors do pop and the rendition is so close to the colors of the subject. But shadows can disappear.

    I like the look of this film I see its available here in Australia I will certainly be giving it a try as the price of ektachrome E100 has been putting me off. I haven't shot any slide film since the Kodachrome days. Such a shame that Kodachrome 64 was discontinued amazing colours and contrast.

    Reversal film FTW!!!
    The only other film I've had the same "the only bad thing I can say is that it looks almost digital" thought with was the Fujicolor 100. That stock has such a neutral tone, fine grain and dynamic range that it's simply unacceptable if you're going after "the film look" lol

    • @Eclectachrome
      @Eclectachrome  10 месяцев назад

      Ah I haven't shot that one yet! Is that the green and red box or the industrial green and white box for the fuji 100?

    • @asdpc
      @asdpc 10 месяцев назад

      @@Eclectachrome They are mostly the same thing. The Industrial simply came in bulk 30-rolls packages without individual barcodes for profesional uses - not only photographers but think also insurance companies, the police, etc. The main difference right now is that Fujicolor 100 has been into production up until earlier this year, so it can be found with an expiration date of 2026 (fresher than any Superia). On the contrary, the Industrial was discontinued around 2019, so the freshest rolls expired in back in 2022.
      Beyond the Industrial 100 in 12, 24 and 36 exposures, there's also the Industrial 400, also in 12, 24 and 36. This one was discontinued a few years before, and the freshest rolls are dated around 2019 I think. This film was most likely the bulk equivalent to the Superia Venus 400 or Superia XTRA 400 available for consumers at that time. It's a bit hard to assess at this point, because being a 400 ISO film, it certainly ages faster, and in my experience its look when shot in 2023 really sets it apart from any fresh Fujicolor stock.
      Btw, the true name of the Industrial films was 業記録用, short for 業記録用力ラーフィルム. The 業 in front (Japanese for work or business) was not between parenthesis but stylized inside a Japanese "marujirushi" like this: ◯). This roughly translates to "color film usable for purposes of business records".
      My personal take on this is that the name of this film mentioned "business" because of the bulk packaging, but not because the film had any particular feature that made it specially suitable for business or professional usage. However, at some point maybe some blogger tried to translate the name and found that 業 meant industry. But to be 100% accurate, in Japanese, 業 strictly means work or business, not necessarily industry. However, the same sign 業 does mean industry in Chinese - so maybe that's where the translation came from!
      As a matter of fact, translating Japanese or Chinese into western languages is a very complex business, and literal translations without adapting are mostly wrong, like in this case. However, things could have been worse: as the 業 sign happens to also mean "karma", in a parallel universe maybe we are all literally calling these "Fujicolor Karmic Films" 🤣

    Strangely, I was going through some old boxes the other day and came across an old (25+ years) slide projector. Strangely because of the thousands of photos I've taken in the past 30-ish years, I haven't shot slide film in probably 25 years. Weird how things sometimes works...

    I just tried Flic Film's Chrome 100, and I thought it looks very good and professional. BUT I have distinct feeling that it's not the same emulsion as Ektachrome 100 (it's based on motion picture film after all). To my eyes, Chrome 100 seems to be a bit warmer and have greater exposure latitude (which can be nice in slide film). Has anyone noticed the same?

    • @Eclectachrome
      @Eclectachrome  Месяц назад

      it's tricky since so much can be changed in the scanning of the film and each lab and home scanner uses different settings, it's hard to tell!

      @@Eclectachrome I'll see if I can find out. I think I'll shoot one roll of each, where at least one photo is exactly the same scene and at the same time of day. Will let you know. It could be useful to have one cooler and one warmer option for slide films :)
