I've always wanted to do this and I'm going to have a go now as you make it look easy and fun. I can see this could be an absorbing hobby and could be managed within a small budget. Thank you for this Linda 💖
New subscriber 🧚🏼♂️ I have been considering some topiaries in my garden but they are pretty expensive 😅 I am going to attempt this😃 thank you for the video!
Linda, You are correct about finding a great sale on some shrubs because they are not looking so great and bringing them home and transforming them into something very classy. Now, this is what I was wondering, a lot of times I see dwarf alberta spruce trees with bad spots so is there a way to transform them into a topiary? If so, can you do a video on how to, thanks!
Love you work Linda! Will there be new growth on the exposed stem? I got two older Boxwoods in my garden that came with our old house that I am trying to figure out what to do with. I need to upgrade my potting game too after seeing your videos. Love from Denmark.
In my experience, sometimes it does flush out, and sometimes it doesn’t. Make sure to give it lots of water and a good feed and try that :-) welcome and hello from Oklahoma City!
Linda Vater thank you for the advice. Both have so far done well in their new spots even without fertilizer as it's a has been a little too cold. I love giving new life to old plants and boxwood seems perfect. I have also been potting some plants and repotting others. Think you for the inspiration 🌲❤️
It is so hard to find a single trunk. I could only find 2 and that was hard. I'm going to attempt my first topiary tomorrow and maybe 2, if the trunks are separate.
Hi Linda...luv your topiaries...they are beautiul!! I have three large conical shape boxwoods in front of my house. I've order two small boxwoods...how long before I can start shaping them into balls?
Boxwood Girl go to my amazon shop (link in profile on my IG account) and you will see my fave fine pruning scissors. Joyce Chen. For thick branches, I use regular pruners:)
Does the topiary grow from the top? Say you want it taller over time? Or is it best to try and get as big of a specimen to start off with if your goal is for something say 3’ tall?
Thanks Linda. I appreciate your reply. I'm going to try doing more pots since my mobility is getting less and less. I like how you enhance your landscape with pots. Thanks again. Gary
Linda your garden is a bit like mine i have 1 acre of garden i love my garden i never hear you talking about snails &slugs they are driving me mad if you have any ideas would you leg me know best of luck to you.
Hi Linda, I enjoy your video. I don't really understand about boxwood plant. If I want to make a 3 foot standard topiary ball. Do I need to wait my trees grow 4 foot before to shape it?
Excellent topiary instruction video! I'm going to try this as soon as it stops snowing here!
Linda, you have encouraged and inspired me to have a go at creating my own boxwood topiary. Thanks for putting on such a super demonstration.

I love this!
Watching again! What's the end of season for boxwood?
You look exceptionally pretty here.
Love this!
Can these grow inside or have to stay outside? Love this
As this grows, will the lollipop tree trunk get taller? Or will only the bushy part grow taller?
S Cole pretty much just the bushy part.
How quickly do these grow?
What's the best pots to plant these in, terra cotta, plastic ect? Will it survive all winter in freezing temperatures?
Great video. I have one question. Is it best to let the plant grow to the desired height before pruning or do you begin training at an early stage?
Shane Heff let it grow to its desired height
Nice!
Where can I get those scissors? DO you have any favorites?
Boxwood Girl go to my amazon shop (link in profile on my IG account) and you will see my fave fine pruning scissors. Joyce Chen. For thick branches, I use regular pruners:)
Hi,... where is the best place to buy topiary wire? And the gauge most often used?
Does the topiary grow from the top? Say you want it taller over time? Or is it best to try and get as big of a specimen to start off with if your goal is for something say 3’ tall?
Where do you find the Southern Living collection in the Oklahoma City area?
Gary Goodner try tlc or Home Depot. You can also buy them online. If they don’t have them, request them!!!
Thanks Linda. I appreciate your reply. I'm going to try doing more pots since my mobility is getting less and less. I like how you enhance your landscape with pots. Thanks again. Gary

Have you ever done a Little Ollie Into a topiary?
Laura what is the name of the trimmers your using?
If you want a tall ball topiary would you have to wait until you get your heigth before pruning?
Do you trim the centre top most point? I mean the growing tip
I can never find a boxwood with a single stem. I’ve been looking for a few years now. Any thoughts
What a beautiful lady.
This is triggering my mommy issues.
What are the fertilizer you mentioned?
Hi Linda what type/brand of scissors are you using to cut this plant please. I will try gardening and I haven't got a clue of any tools to get. THANKS
I can’t remember but any tools from Gardeners Supply are great.
Can you list the tools you use for pruning? Are they on Amazon?
What's the brand of fertilizer that you said you prefer?
Linda mentioned Espoma.
How darling
Where you a hair dresser? That’s how they cut my hair.
Hi Linda, I enjoy your video. I don't really understand about boxwood plant. If I want to make a 3 foot standard topiary ball. Do I need to wait my trees grow 4 foot before to shape it?
Daisy Brown Yes
😀
Were you a hair dresser in your other life?
Eek😂🤣😂. No!
How long do you let the shrub rest after repotting, before trimming? Or can it be trimmed immediately?
