With my railfanning halted for some time, I knew it was finally time to make this video. Absolutely no horn trumps the K5LLA in terms of beastliness and power, with it's deep and gnarly roar (especially on a SD70ACe) ensuring everyone around knows who is in town. I'll be honest, this video turned out to be much, much longer than I anticipated it to be, and I am absolutely not complaining. I pray you enjoy as much as I did. :)

Between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation of this horn, the best tone has to be 2nd gen but the volume of air has to be 3rd gen! The newest engines have some of the LOUDEST K5LLAs
Ive stood next to alot of ACes in my life, (coming from someone who lived in a BNSF coal line.) And i will 100% agree with you on the 3rd gen being the loudest 😅
The Raised Letter K5LLA is my favorite when I see them on an SD70ACe!
I love 2nd gen K5LLAs but i also love the 3rd gen K5LLAs because they are just so unbelievably loud also yes yes i know im 1 year late💀💀💀

I love The K5LLA yet it still makes me jump
I’ve only ever heard this horn once in person and it was so unbelievably loud that I had to roll up my window and my car started shaking. I’m wondering how people can stand next to these horns and not be in pain??

It causes physical pain for me when I have to film them. When I hear a K5LLA approaching, I get my camera ready, and brace myself for what's to come!!
Do you ever railfan the NS Erie District or do you have any plans to railfan here in Western NY?

There’s a lot of CSX Intermodal and Mixed traffic. And some NS Intermodal and bulk trains. Both the NS and CSX lines run parallel to each other.
