    Very informative, I had an umbilical hernia surgery 3 weeks back, 24 hours after the surgery I developed a DVT. All is well now because I am on medication.

    Mine was in my shoulder. I woke up with my arm all swollen. That was the only symptom. If I listened to this, I would have ignored the condition. I was lucky that I had a neighbour living opposite me who immediately took me to the doctor. Had it not been for her, I'd have just ignored it. One year later I had a pulmonary embolism & pneumonia. So, they should clearly state that it can happen in other parts of the body.

    Thank you...I take note though your mention of Vitamin k and the effects it has on patients using Warfarin. I was on this anticoagulant for years and was very strictly advised not to ingest certain things. Like I could not have green leafy vegetables, cabbage, kale, 🥦 and spinach amongst lots of other things that all greatly impacted the use of warfarin, so I avoided altogether and derived green foods via salad veg instead. Now IS not a problem as I don't take warfarin any more, but a different blood thinner instead ( as on these for life). So I'm wondering why you mentioned the things I was told to avoid, because of vitamin k, as being able to be taken whilst on warfarin! I'm much happier now this drug was removed, because after years of usage and I.N.R's ( it started playing up, not giving correct readings and responses, leaving me in a precarious life threatening situation
    So thank heavens there are other treatments, and thank you for this video.

    Hi! Nursing student here! Correct me if I'm wrong, but with warfarin, you do not want to consume vitamin K because that will counteract the drug because it is a vitamin K antagonist. I don't know if that nursing intervention has changed throughout the years, but they really stressed that in our course lectures!

      Hi Cassielolx, you can still consume small amounts of foods with vitamin K. The goal is stay consistent with the intake of vitamin K foods. Here is a reliable source In case you want to read more on this: www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/thrombophlebitis/expert-answers/warfarin/faq-20058443

    This is excellent information! I noticed Eliquis nor Xarelto were mentioned. Is there a reason for this? They do not end in Rin, Ban, Bin either

    • @habibzaatar1870
      @habibzaatar1870 Год назад +1

      Xarelto is actually Rivaroxaban and Eliquis is Apixaban
