- Im looking so much for Apollos and Hephys parts! Not Zeus... For some reason I had such a hard time drawing him in this animatic. But whenever the full song gets its realese I will continue with it!

Hi, I am looking for all and any Greek mythology novels... I have read The song of achilles, The whole percy Jackson, trials of apollo etc, currently reading Circe..... Do you have any suggestions coz I am very fascinated about Odysseus's tale, his whole life from childhood to his last moments.... I want to read about him a lot more from different perspectives.... I love how Athena is not afraid of her father. She stares up at him, but not intimidated by him at all. She is pissed, but not at all scared.

So I might be wrong but I think this was more of a recommendation from Zeus, he was aware she cared about Odysseus enough to fight her extended family so he told her “why not make it a game?” Because it would avoid long lasting damage and keep everything mostly civil.
He can't play mind games with her, she was literally inside his head :P

He's just happy to be included. Tbh he's probably got a lot of issues after the whole "shoved in a jar and forgotten about for months" thing, so it's good that he's getting out more.
THAT! Ares get so much hate for nothing. He's one of the most unproblematic god and deserve respect. I'm glad to see him being represented without being humiliated or make him kind of misogynist. He's really deserve more appreciation.
@@pommyh3ck I think they give him hate because he’s the god of war. Specifically the brutality of war. Which is kinda funny because Athena is also a goddess of war. Granted, she’s the goddess of WISDOM IN WAR, not the brutality of it like Ares. Still kinda funny to me though

Take a look at how the Romans saw him, a god or war but also a god of fatherhood and protection as well.
Gotta love how big Hera and Zeus are to the other gods, really emphasizing their status in the Olympians.
Same with poseidon, which i suppose suggests the other 3 of the original 6 Olympians (hades, hestia, and demeter) are the same.
Athena should have been bigger as prophecy dictates that she would become as strong as Zeus

I really love how at the beginning Zeus has his hand on Athena's shoulder, almost gently, only to turn more threatening and domineering as he dictates the terms of the game to Athena. It really highlights how she's his favorite child, but even she isn't above yielding to Zeus' power. The king of the gods makes no exceptions.
Huh, I always thought Artemis was his favorite child.

I just love the fact that Aphrodite, the goddes of love, is doing an all out power pose instead of a sensual or sexual pose you'd expect her to be in 😆👍🏼
I mean if you think about it, she's definitely very dominant and knows what she wants and will do what she can to get it-
I love that both zues and hera have bull horns, and are also huge. Really sells the whole king and queen aspect. It really sells that they are the two gods that Athena can’t exactly brute force her way pass, as powerful as she is. As much as they are dysfunctional I do love the idea that they are together for a reason (if only bc people tend to want to keep a toxic minefield contained and not spread) so them sharing characteristics is a very cool stylistic choice. In short, they are fathering and mothering lol 😂
It's also probably a reference to the fact that the bull was one of the symbols of Zeus

I love that you drew Hephaestus with a prosthetic leg!!! I admit to being a bit disappointed that him being disabled wasn't shown clearly in the animatic, so I really loved that detail when you showed his full illustration!!

Yeah, me too 😅 I was planning on having it more visible in the splash art, but never ended up with it. But once the day the full song arrives, we definitely gonna see his prosthetic leg!
Why is that important. Hephaestus didn't have a prosthetic leg he had two deformed legs after his mother threw him down from Olympus. Unless you mean that being born ugly is a deformity.
@@Fellwinter So are you complaining that I love seeing Hephaestus being shown as disabled because he is actually disabled? I don't see your point in mentioning his deformed legs as if they aren't a disability. And by disabled, I just mean he needs more assistance to function the way abled people do.

As for why he could walk with deformed legs I always assumed it was the ancient Greek way of saying "It's Olympus I don't have to explain shit".
@@Fellwinter he's the God of making shit up. Him making himself shit to aid his own deformity is very in character to him. Gods don't have a defined form, they're up to interpretation, always, and this interpretation is important to OP, you don't have to talk shits about it

THIS IS DIVINE the silhouettes of the Gods Portray them so well and When Zeus presents them like a proud father they Hera is so big compared to them all it's kinda cute. It's absolutely perfect

oughhhhh there's something about how zeus moves that tickles my brain so well!!! the clouds and the crackles of lightning feels cocky in a way noone but the king of gods would be able to get away with.
the shoulder on athena's shoulder feels so much like a dad humouring his favourite daughter. and the little odysseus figure and how, for a moment, it almost feels like zeus would crush his skull in his hands.
also the lovely shots of the olympians as their names are called compared to the little muppets? hilarious.
Athena is his favourite daughter (though he's quite fond of Artimis too, as he did give her the moon when she asked for it). But while Athena is his favourite offspring, Ares is his least favour son, the kind of one who gets the 'oh, him'. reaction from Zeus.
I like that we can see they have a close relationship with each other. ^^
Granted, I'm not very familiar with the source material where Epic the Musical is from. So if I get things wrong, do correct me. (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) 💧
I really love the splash card intros for the gods especially aphrodite that smug smile is everything. I also love how much taller zeus and hera are compared to the other god. and the fact that zeus moves with cloud transitions also kinda reminds me of posideons water transitions as well.
I need to say one thing... Drawing Poseidon as black water watering around was so much easier than freaking clouds 😭

I love that in the whole odyssea the only god that let odysseus even on his reign and didn't want to murder him was literally Hades
0:28-0:45 someone could tell me this sequence is the intro to a very real animated TV show and i would immediately believe them bcs its so GENIUS AND CREATIVE.

Your Zeus looks amazing! The idea of bull horns intertwined with victory laurels is inspired. I also love how Zeus and Hera are colossal compared to the others - it really shows that they're the children of titans.
I really like how the gods aren't dudes with togas. But have unique designs.
Am I the only one to have noticed how similar Zeus and Poseidon are, due to them being brothers? You conveyed that nicely

Frankly I think that's a terrible shortcoming of Odyssey and its many adaptations, Poseidon and Athena should absolutely have a boss fight

This is absolutely gorgeous work - I *love* the use of bull and cow horns for Zeus and Hera respectively (plus the bull-tail for Zeus and Hera's peacock reveal in her separate video).

I love how tall Hera is compared to the others, it makes her look quite intimidating. But I also think that's her way of coping/compensating for her feelings of powerlessness, isn't it?

I Looooved this. You always manage to make Gods threatening,as they ougt to be. You did it for Poseidon and Zeus. The colored silluates where a nice touch. The rest of animatic not having color helped to bring out a contrast of how they where different and untied to some of the world's laws other's had to follow. The designs are awesome as always, and Apllo's odly reminded me of your desing for David. Nice work!

I'm in the bag for all of your Epic adaptations. There are a myriad of beautiful interpretations of this musical out here on the internet, all wonderful to watch, but yours remain my absolute favorite. The character designs and expressions, and the sense of movement (even without movement) is so clearly realized. There's also a real sense of joy, excitement, and energy in the animatics. It translates to equal joy and excitement at seeing more of your work in my feed. Thank you for sharing, and please keep it up! It's fantastic.

I don't have the brain power to explain why I love your designs so much. That Zeus! But your Apollo is amazing as well. I'm very fond of the scorched look to the bottom of his robes and the feather, hinting to the myth of the crow. But I'm also just very fond of all myths of why the crow is black.

Amazing work! Your animatic is so beautifully made! The designs are so impressive! I love how unique you are in choosing animals that are associated with the gods. Zeus with the horns won my heart, and Ares, who gives an enthusiastic response at the end, is so charming.
OOOOOOOO Man! The intros was so good!!!😍 Also the fact that Hera is literally twice the size of all the gods is awesome and hilarious😂 Plus, Zeus having bull horns and treating this all like it's some board game shows just how disconnected he is with humanity, while Athena taking this super seriously shows her arc on what humans are in her eyes.

I can't wait to hear the finished version of this song! Also, I don't know if it's just me but the song gives 80s vibes to me! I grew up primarily listening to 80s music (it's my mom's favorite decade to listen to lol) and it just reminds me of it! I also get the same feeling with Hera's and Aphrodite/Ares's portion too.
Love it that Zeus and Hera are bigger than the other gods, and Zeus is also sporting horns like Hera. Hephestus with the prosthetic is also a very nice touch too.
Question were all the gods that she had to convince on the side of Troy during the war? I know Aphrodite started it and Apollo was definitely on the side of Troy with Artemis at least.
Thank you ^^ I think so? if we exclude Hera. I think she was with the greeks. Ares was on the Troy's side cuz he blessed Paris or something when the boy gave the god a golden crown. Hephaestus Im actually not sure.

I see, then most of them she had to convince held a grudge against Odysseus for beating Troy, while the others were just....because.
@@LyenWorks Not only. Zeus is also the god of justice, Hera is his wife, so it makes sense that Athena has to convince them both. Apollo, Aphrodite and Ares may or may not be because of Troy. Aphrodite and Ares have specific issues with Odysseus that are related to their domains. Ares focuses on Odysseus' "cowardice" (tricks and evasions), Aphrodite on the death of Odysseus's mother (she committed suicide). The question is how Jay will approach Apollo and Hephaestus. Apollo may be focused on Troy, but it may also be about his domains of knowledge and logics (domains that clash with Athena's domain of wisdom, just as her and Ares' domain of war does). Hephaestus can be a neutral part (like Hera) who is indifferent to the hero's fate. Or he may resent the fate of the Cyclops, with whom he identifies as a cripple.
Of course, that's just my opinion, because Troy is not necessarily the main theme. If I remember correctly, at the end of the war, Apollo and Zeus changed sides when it turned out that the scales of victory were tilting towards the Greeks.
I cannot get over how well the gods are animated, they feel properly otherworldly, like they can be literally anything they want but still stick to their various symbols

The poses when they were called out by Zeus look epic,and the end was my kinda my favorite with their facial expressions screaming 'oh this will be fun' and Athena's 'I am SO gonna win this'.
