Interesting fact about Ares: Despite being the God of War he actually has a very young and innocent looking face, no beard has ever grown on his face. He wears his helmet a lot to hide his babyface.

I love how fluffy Aphrodite’s hair is and how tiny she is compared to Athena and Ares! I also like that Ares’ helmet kind of makes it look like he’s constantly mad, very on brand for him!
It really plays into her role on the pantheon. She's the goddess of love and fertility. She's not meant to be imposing

May I please cry about the fact back in My Goodbye, Athena said to Odysseus that she's not looking for a friend, and now she's actively defending his son, declaring Telemachus is her friend
We can cry about it together because that line always hits me like a bus
Please Athena just use that word to manipulate Aphrodite and Ares. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, so firendship is important for her, Ares is the god of war, what means that Friendship also matter for him. but Athena dont have the ability for fellings she is all about cold logic. she has no friends, that is why she is alone.

She came to protect Telemachus, I'd say that's a pretty friendly thing. And gotta add, Athena is a goddess of war too, Ares is known for reckless bloody war, she is known for won war, for planned and strategized war. To her it makes more sense for friendship to be important then Ares gotta be honest right there because as a goddess of wisdom she should know best that friendships helps in fights especially since a lot of spartan warriors werent just friends but even gay lovers who protected each other which made this so unbeatable. It makes more sense that she is taking friendship now more into consideration as a thing that can help her train a new "general" like she did with Odysseus but this time do it as a friend and not just a mentor because it grants her a greater understanding of the person she's training.

Yep, quick thoughts, giving here more time to try to persuade aphrodite (and maybe manipulate her) before she gives a negative response and sentence odysseus to eternity with calypso (and a broken heart), though ares breaks it.
Being the goddess of wisdom and strategy and apparently able to manipulate time (courtesy of her grandfather, most like), I suspect she's *very* good at getting people to see her point of view.
And for those she can't, she's *also* the goddess of warfare...

It’s really cool that Aphrodite’s room is just hung with mirrors, to illustrate her vanity! But at the same time, it’s almost as if she uses them in order to show Odysseus’s true reflection, a man who has broken hearts and deserves what’s coming to him
Also the seashell bed to match her whole seashell thing and the fact that her bed is literally on a pedestal because she puts herself on a pedestal cuz she's better than everybody😂

I love Ares design, it's both scary and badass. Also, I think it's fitting for him! Ares is basically the incarnation of violence, bloodshed and war, it's kinda poetic that someone like him doesn't have a face/doesn't show his face.

Also he is very unpopular among gods. Like leave him in bucket for months because you can't be bothered kind of unpopular. So always helmet, strict and serious personality fits like a glove.
Exactly. He is literally the father of fear and terror (Phobos and Deimos, their mom being unsurprisingly Aphrodite), so him being this faceless, eerie figure, almost resembling an executioner more than a soldier, is a nice touch.
Funny things is that he's described as being one of the most beautiful gods along with Apollo and Dionysus. Aphrodite and Hera are the most beautiful of the goddesses.

It's also a reminder that Aphrodite is Aeneas' mother and she's VERY protective of him. And Aeneas loved his mama. She has opinions on sons who don't honor their mothers.

OP, you make a good point. She also has a tendency to overlook/ignore circumstances, from the versions that I've read, so her not caring that Odysseus didn't know that she died or was suffering is still in character.

I love how Aphrodite was the hardest to convince so far and also that she was depicted so well because as much as people think love gods are weak because love isn’t generally thought of as a particularly physically powerful domain yo Aphrodite is scarily powerful and one of the biggest menaces in Greek mythology to compare yourself to her is basically rigged to get you cursed.
People put Aphrodite's blame in the war as high as Athena and Hera's. But, didn't Aphrodite technically win fairly ? The three each offered the guy something. But being the goddess of love, it's her job to know what goes in a person's heart, so of course she offered the best option to a simple, stable man like him, which was love.

There is this miss conception because every love godess in every culture also had a war aspect in them so I loved how they took her as the hardest since in every war is also love involed.
If we go solely on domain or just general worship Aphrodite is by the most powerful goddess only second to Hera with the influence she has on mortal lives. People need Aphrodite and all the lower god that overlap with her domain to live their lives with a modicum of joy.
Never underestimate the power of love and friendship… *never*
I also love how- whether or not this was intended- it looks less like Aphrodite let her pass because she was convinced, more like because Ares was and she loves Ares
I love how Athena's helmet is like more defined and controlled. While Aries's helmet gives off someone with rage.
I like to think that Athens is more open so she can plan in battle while Aries is more closed of only needing to focus on the enemy infront of him

I would say less rage, but more scruffy. Either way, it makes sense considering that Athena represented the strategic side of way (hence, representing wisdom) while Ares represented the fighting and brutality aspects of war (hence being associated with courage).
This is my favourite Aphrodite design from now on. The hair is like it was made just for her, this is how I see Aphrodite from now on!
Also I love how Ares actually looks like he has been to war. His clothes and helmet are scruffy instead of pristine like many others are

As someone who watched a bunch of God Games animatics, I love how this version represents Ares! Athena looks like the platonic, philosophic ideal of noble strategy, while Ares is the figure you see on the broken battlefield before a spear finds you. The war gods look like distant siblings - recognizable near-equals, pushing each other off balance. Inspired!
They are half-siblings, but then again, so are Aphrodite and Ares, I believe. If nothing else, Aphrodite is Ares' sister-in-law, since her husband is actually Hephaestus, Ares' brother and the god of fire.
@@BPJD2004 Aphrodite is more like his grandaunt, if i record correctly, i think she was born when Uranus' severed penis fell into the sea, and Uranus is Chrono's father, so she's Ares' great-grandfather's daughter. Also worthy of note that she didn't exactly have a choice in marrying Hephaestus, and i'm pretty sure she did divorce him after her affair with Ares was exposed.

I looooove how Ares pierces through Athena’s time manipulation and strikes her painfully in the head. Then, once she regains her train of thought and can focus, she pierced through Ares’ red and fires back. Naturally, the only true opponent that can stand to Athena’s abilities is a fellow war god in Ares.
She also probably has to be just as direct and confronting as Ares just to win him over.

@@sheepj2464I mean realistically you could argue that Aphrodite could beat Athena in this confrontation since she is an older goddess, has all the cards since Athena needs her to do something and not the other way around on top of Aphrodite being a goddess who can influence other gods even if they are stronger than her because of how universal love is.

I like how Aphrodite looks like she's more affected that Athena calls Telemecus her friend more than anything else? Like it's slight but when Athena defends him against Ares her eyes widen slightly while she looks between them like she is shocked about something and then agrees to release Odysseus while acting like she doesn't care.
Well, Athena, being logic itself, is supposed to be uncapable of feeling love. So for her to use friendship as an argument, it means she's learning to feel love, which surprises Aphrodite, because she's Athena's opposite just as much as Ares, if not more.
@@JabamiLain I think while she and Athena are complete opposites she ares are a lot closer when you view them as gods embodying concepts of human passion be it in the form of violence or love or both. Love and hate aren't really different in the grand scheme of things.
Love everything about this, but especially the usage of mirrors for Aphrodite and the fact that this also seems like Athena having an argument with her brother and his girlfriend as well as an epic clash between the gods.
I never realized but actually Athena and Aries seems to have similar designs in the sense both are always armored up but Athena is sorta like a female Ares but with more wisdom I love the the bickering those two have also I love Aphrodite’s design!
They both are gods of war, so it makes sense that they have similar armor and designs

Oooh I love that snippet where Aphrodite cradles the mirror with Odysseus' image then sends it spinning! So expressive!
I find it amusing how Aphrodite is the literal smallest person in the room but lore wise she is almost always one of the ones with the largest presence for a multitude of reasons not limited to being the goddess of beauty, goddess of love, surprisingly vengeful, and highly manipulative.
The way Aphrodite and Ares interact in this is so fuzzy and warm feeling
I love the way that she is seen caring for the crying figure of Odysseus here yet still talks of his son instead it shows compassion for Odysseus through his son and not him as she is still upset at him for their previous fight even if she still cares for him. Amazing work as always gigi 🙌

It makes me sad that Athena see's Telemachus as her friend but poor Odysesus tried to be her friend for most of his life only to get rejected
but I guess that part is being saved for their actual reunion
She was only saying that to manipulate, if you can't tell, her whole personality has to do with pride of herself and manipulation through the whole musical. It's sad to know but she was manipulating Aphrodite and Ares throughout the whole thing 😢😢😢😢

the point of her getting angry at Ares here for insulting Telemachus is that she has changed, in the past she wouldn't even call Telemachus her friend, much less go to such lenghts to help the man that insulted her to her face not to long ago (from a God's perspective), a lot has changed for her to be even atempting this in Odysseus behalf
she is manipulating Athena, or trying, but Ares ends her attempt early and gets her actually angry with his insults, so the manipulation failed
it shows that her old tricks just won't cut it anymore and she has to make an actual effort to save Odysseus
@@NoRegs30 She didn't get angry and hasn't changed any, actually she favors pride over anything and was manipulating Aphrodite in the beginning. That's when Ares stepped in, to stop it. She might have got mad but it was only because she was trying to save her own pride, it shows how manipulative and horrible the gods are. That they would stoop to such low lies that mean nothing to them, only to cover their own backs and make themselves feel good. She is only helping because she tried so hard and they are basically shoving in her face that she failed.

Ares stepped in and Aphrodite even walked over to him knowing that she proved a point, Athena would never beg. I feel like you might be looking a bit too much into it, Athena is meant to have a small character arc where she goes from someone unwilling to admit her friendship to Odysseus to someone how acknowledges a friendship to his son
Also the Goddess of Wisdom didn’t seem very wise or manipulative when she got mad at Odysseus for the Polyphemus thing, she felt like a child who had a bit of a point but not fully
The Gods a dicks that’s what gives them humanity and Athena is meant to understand her friendship with Odysseus by the end of the musical
Aphrodite being a short queen is something I didn't know I needed. But yeah holy shit you always breath life into these songs so well!
I love how Athena’s response to Aprodite was persuasion and calm, while with Ares she’s all fire and direct.
Athena is either really tall or Aphrodite is really short. Either way, Both are absolute queens and the chemistry between Aphrodite and Ares reminds me of me and my boyfriend. He fits Ares really well
Athena was designed to be tall just like in her animation “warrior of the mind” and the design for Aphrodite in her live stream was meant to be short
This animatic of the song honestly has my favourite Ares design of them all. The fact that we can't see his face makes him look more threatening and less "human" than the other gods.
Ares' face is too delicate and innocent for a god of war, so he hides it with his helmet

I LOVE THE DESIGNS HERE! Using the mirrors to show Odysseus's mother and him was such a nice touch! And Ares' design is so nice- his eyes peering through the darkness of his helmet sometimes is wonderful. This has gotta be one of my favorite animatics of this song
I'm OBSESSED with Aphrodite's voice. They really popped off with the casting.
I love how Aphrodite uses mirrors here! Most animatics just have her use magic to conjure the images, so I thought that was really creative!
I also like how Ares uses images alongside his words in a way that paints Odysseus as a coward. It’s really cool!
All in all, this is awesome. Great work! ❤
One thing that I love about representing the gods is that everyone understands the task on making Ares and Athena look alike due to they are both gods of the war, Ares helmet looks like it blocks his sight and protects him from the hit and Athena is more open allowing her to look at the battlefield, shows how Ares is just fight until it's done and Athena always looks for a better tactic or a better way to end things, but it doesn't mean they are enemies, just rivals inside a warriors mind and heart
Fun fact: one myth detailing the birth of Ares describes him as breaking his father's finger.
Edit: I love that when Ares enters his presence actually gives Athena a headache since he is her antithesis.
I don't think we realise what an on-century move Aphrodite made when she brought Odysseus's mom into the argument.

I ADORE Ares design. I love how the feathers on his head are messy and torn, like he’s just come back from bloody battle. And of course I love his helmet covering his face!
Also that small lip sync with Aphrodite when she said “-that his mother-“ was SO GOOD I REWATCHED IT 5 TIMES.
The strength in Aries voice and the uprise of Athena’s vocal strength is gorgeous. I wish Aphrodite and her boy Aries had more screen time.
I can't get over how amazing those designs are. Aphrodite is just so playfully expressive and Ares with his bucket head. I love how simplistic yet full of personality they are. Also those hollow eyes, such a great moment 1:05
I find it so fascinating that Odysseus has been constantly shit on as a coward for being cunning (like using the horse) when they wouldn't have won and would have continued fighting aimlessly if they hadn't besieged troy like that
What about that infant, tho? War has its manner too. He killed sleeping soldiers, no honor at all. Ofc he got sh1t on a lot. You gotta do what you gotta do to survive, I agree. But Ody is never and no hero, when the story tried to paint him as a hero or 'good', this clashes with his dishonorable and cunning way in killing sleeping Trojans regardless of his reasons. Especially here, Athena was asking them for votes to release him. Ares was basically blurting out all of Ody's dishonorable conduct and essentially asked "What about him that is worthy of special treatment?" Not to mention as Aphrodite mentioned in her part "More like busy spiting the cyclops." Mocking that "Odysseus? Fighting? When did he fight? He killed Trojans in their sleep, no fight. He blinded the cyclops with his more-than-enough power, still lost soldiers, and then rather than finishing the job, he just left his name out spite."
Again, what's so special about him? Both Ares and Aphrodite were asking that.
Love how she changes her reasons for the different god
Aries: she included war and blood (cuz he is the god of war)
Hera:Include how he is not a player like Zeus
It makes sense that Aphrodite and Ares have a low opinion of Odyessus since they're both patron gods for the Romans who hated him.
I like the implication that Ares' presence is enough to magically shock anyone when he appears, even other gods.

Everyone’s talking about how great Aphrodite and Ares’ designs are and I have to agree! They look amazing and I love the slashes on Ares’ armor representing the violence and war along with the rose in Aphrodite’s hair which commonly represents love (commonly only because yellow roses signify friendship)! However I really really liked how Aphrodite’s bed was a sea shell (she sells sea shells by the sea shore, try saying THAT 5 times as fast lol) since in the mythology of her creation, she was born on land in a scallop shell from the ocean! It’s such a nice little thing and I really really liked the add-in of it. The creator did such a good job and the facial expressions were immaculate. I do love me some good greek mythology animations to hyperfixate on lol.

I love how she talks bout his mother and really feels for her. As some people said since she's the goddess of love she's technically a mother herself and even thought she's pretty self centered seeing someone disrespecting both love and motherhood would annoy her and make her have some compassion for his mother. the animatics where she really looks angry with that and not just petty are the BEST

And ofc you always rock the body language-even the body language of character design with Ares being so large and sharp edged where Aphrodite is more petite and soft. I love how the Animatic takes on the color of whoever controls the song at that point.
At the start, Aphrodite is the next one she needs to convince and so Aphrodite is controlling the song and singing. Until Athena uses her Quick Thought and then the animatic becomes blue to symbolize that. Until Ares bursts into the song, and it becomes Red. Ares has come in and is shutting down Athena, until Athena takes the song back, turning it blue, and they get convinced.

I SAID IT ONCE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN: YOUR ATHENA DESIGN SLAPS SO HARD! I love all the motion happening here like with Aphrodite brushing her hair, and I especially love her palace!! The pictures hanging like that are very fitting for her! And Athena's expressions like when she sighs at Ares. Perfection.

I like how absolutely different Ares and Aphrodite are. Likes he's big and rugged, and she's tiny and pretty. Don't underestimate her though, tiny but deadly
I love how Ares' leitmotif is almost identical to Athena's, but done with a different instrument, even to having a similar time ability. It shows how they're two sides of the same coin. The wisdom and strategy of war on one side, and it's brutality on the other.
FINALLY!! Someone who actually DID the ares portion! Honestly, him and poseidon have some of the best lyrics IMO, and you portrayed him so well! I also appreciated the aphrodite passive aggressive sass you could see in her expressions and movements, and the intensity in Ares' basically ragging on Odysseus and telemachus. Overall, amazing work! Especially bc you honestly bring out that feeling of the three ideologies of conflict to life with your animations. The tactics of battle, the emotions and grief of the resolution, and the conquest and bloodshed of the fight itself. I love it! ❤ can't wait to see more! I live that Aphrodite's room is filled with mirrors that not only reflects (pun intended) at her vanity but also the fact that mirrors are one of her symbols.
I like how aphroditie's bed is a seashell since the ocean is the place were she was born and I also like that she has a bunch of pictures in her room , I like to believe that she is able to control the pictures and it's pics of her or she uses it to gaslight people using it to create scenarios

Obsessed with how ares’ theme is Athena’s but more ominous in key and instrument choice! Also 😭🥺 the melody of “hold your tongue now, his son’s my friend” is the same as the early part of warrior of the mind 🥺🥺
Kinda ironic that Aphrodite is supposedly furious on the behalf of Odysseus’ mother when the only reason he was ever away was because he had to fight in a war that Aphrodite herself helped cause.

I love how the colors reflect who is in control in the moment, it from pink for Aphrodite to grayish for Athena trying to convince her, then red for the powerful influence Ares has, and than a complete turn around to blue to show how Athena flipped the control around. Many artists don’t utilize color for stuff like that, so I applaud you. There is so much other good things a I could, but I’ve seen others talk about it already

Everyone has already commented on most of the aspects that make this animatic so great, so I'll just add that I love the detail of Ares and Athena both wearing the same helmet as gods of war, but Athena's, the strategist, is all pristine while Ares's, the actual god of battle who did fight, and sometimes even lost, is all scratched up and battered. Really neat touch

I think one of my favorite things in the animatic is that the color of the background changed every time the control of the conversations shifts. Aphrodite is pink, but when Athena tried to control her (or whatever ‘trick’ Ares referred to) it turns blue. Then Ares steps in and it turns red. Then when Athena takes controls again and eventually wins, it’s blue. Just thought it was a really subtle but nice touch. Great job! 😉👍
Absolutely love how Athena reaches out towards Odysseus as he's struggling!! And how Athena rounds on the other Gods to defend him! It's so perfect! It beautifully shows how Athena has gained more empathy. Recognizing how she was inadvertently tormenting Odysseus during the war- making him choose between being her apathetically logical general, and a good man.
