      Hey buddy did you have a weird whine noise when you got this problem? My GTI has had a whine or whirring noise when applying throttle for a few days now. Finally got this code last night after rough... late engagement of first gear from a stop like the clutch was slipping. I had the clutch packs done about 5-6 years ago, but the noise was rough gear select clunks and vibrations, not this whine.

    I am so glad I found this video this is exactly what my 2006 vw Jetta tdi 6 speed auto dsg is doing. I am going to replace my clutches and the flywheel at the same time. My car is throwing the same fault code but it's also at times flashing the prnds in the instrument cluster and I believe my tranny goes into limp mode first gear only and I have to turn off and on my car and then it's fine. When I replace my clutches do I just replace the plates themselves or the whole assembly including hub there's a pretty big price difference $250 vs $650.

    Only video on the internet showing exactly my symptoms. Car stopped, changing between P, N, R, D you can hear the clunks and sometimes it even appears that something is moving below the car!
    Coming dead stop, put R to park. If you don't wait for the clunk to stop and press the accelerator it will keep trying to go into R, and sometimes flash R and go to limp mode. That's when I get the P2711 recorded!
    DSG went for repair a year ago, they changed the mechatronics in one go.
    Not repaired, DSG went in again, dunnon what they've done, but it's still doing exactly the same.
    Will now attempt myself to get a new clutch pack and DMF while at it and perform it.
    Thanks for the video.

    I have this issue right now, no transmission noise or clunking but I get the R flashing with no movement when I step on gas and flashing D only seems to run on 1-2 gears. When I shut the car off for a minute it’s ok but my mechanic says I need a rebuilt tranny which when you include labor is about 6-7k 🚬 so will go to a transmission specialist shop and get the mechatronic unit and clutches replaced and see if that helps it and for how long.

    This problem is definitelly problem with clutch. You need to replace the clucth + readapt the greabox via ODIS. But another problem why clutch failed could be caused by bad mechatronics unit and bad solenoids, or low oil volume or pressure in the gearbox.

    FYI a pair of Knippex snap ring pliars would help you with that clip. comes off with ease. NO TAGS ON THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE TAGGED DSG DSG CLUTCH. I could not find it when looking for it also VW Jetta and some O2E DSG 6 and some other tags would get this more views.

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage 3 года назад

      the only reason I found this is it was suggested. If you tag it better and put dsg clutch in the title you will get many more views. it is the best view of how to install the whole clutch assembly. I would like to see someone do the individual clutches. VW requires the whole drum assembly if someone had a video of how to do the clutches without that would help the guys trying to save a buck or 2.

    "Fill it up with our great fill procedure, and that's it". What about running the adaptation in VCDS, etc after the fill (unless you mention that as part of the fill procedure)? Not doing that adaptation will toast those clutches in 500 miles. Don't ask me how I know :( Thank you for posting! You do a great job explaining it! Sub'd!

    My vw mk5 with box DSG 02E I present the code P2711, the failure that presents are the following:
    1.- When you stop, for example, when you reach a traffic light and move the selector lever from D to N or P, you feel that it makes the changes very rough or hard.
    2.- On one occasion when selecting R the car was neutralized and did not mark any speed in the instrument panel.
    3.- When turning on the car, it feels unstable since it trembles more than normal.
    The solution to the fault code and the problems described could be the replacement of the double clutch?

    Followed this the the letter I believe. Its on the later dq250 which is 0D9 instead of 02E (fundamentally they are the same with some revised improvements apparently)
    Everything is back to together and fluid level correct. It won't complete basic settinga just clunk's once or twice and says aborted. It will drive sort of but after 2nd gear it won't go to 3rd. There is codes for main pressure valve, cooling valve electrical Malfunction but when tested all ok and replaced mechatronic for working spare and still same codes. Is there any way doing the clutches can affect fluid flow pressures etc that would make the mechatronic think it was electrical fault in the oil control valves? Thanks in advance.

      I have a Skoda Superb doing the same thing. If you also have a fault code relating to overheating then it could just be low fluid (I'd do a full fluid change and filter), if it goes into limp mode very early in the trip (ie. not long enough to cause actual overheating), then it could be the TFT (Transmission Fluid Temperature/Speed) sensor has failed - in this scenario it's worth replacing the sensor when you do the trans fluid/filter change. Hopefully that will fix the problem. If it is just the p2711 code, then it may be a clutch pack issue. Hope that helps? Cheers!

    i got the p2711, ive had my clutch packs replaced. i have trouble getting in to reverse and park sometimes if the car is dead stopped, if i let the car roll a little bit, it'll be fine as it locks in. would this be the mech unit now thats causing the shifting issues? i have no issues in drive at all.

      it is very hard to say, the mech unit controls the clutches so that could be the issue, but it could be an issue with the clutches too usually a mech unit causes shifting issues or a no comm. i would lean more toward the clutches even though you had them replaced

      Hi Ryan.
      Have you checked the automatic selector cable? That could be the fault as it may be a bit loose.
      After you had changed your clutches did you get any more P2711 issues?

      It could be a mech unit issue or an input or output speed sensor dropping out. Any other faults stored. Was it an oem dual clutch that was installed and was the correct shim installed?

    out of curiosity why wouldn't you take the time to flush it before refitting it to the car, get rid of any clutch or metal shavings etc, or i guess even after refitting it,

    • @PositiveLeadDiagnostics
      @PositiveLeadDiagnostics  5 лет назад +1

      I flushed the fluid and there’s also a filter you change. I just did it after I put it in the vehicle off camera. The point of this video was to show how to replace the dual clutch.

      That would be tough. You would have to pull the subframe. And you need a support brace on the top to hold the engine up.

    • @LynxStarAuto
      @LynxStarAuto 2 года назад +1

      @@EB-ok3io I've done a fair number of these since my initial post. First trick I learned, is that you need to double check your initial placement of the clutch pack onto the input shaft. This is where a lot of techs get stuck. Make sure it is seated all the way. Then install your tool #T10303
      Next trick I learned is that you get a more accurate reading by *rocking* the clutch end to end vs pulling straight up on it.
      Final trick I learned is toss that worthless plastic ball gag the plate comes preinstalled with and use VW tool #T10302 to resize the seal, and protect on installation. Makes popping that final cover on a breeze.
