When Billie Joel met Paul McCartney for the first time, Joel told McCartney how much he loved Paul's music and how excited he was to meet him. McCartney said, " That is how I felt when I first met Phil Everly."
Warren Zevon worked and toured with the Everly Brothers as their piano player. In fact Phil Everly suggested that Warren write a song using the line “Werewolf of London”....and the rest as they say...is history.

Agree. Todays music doesn,t have anything memorable. Kids now have no idea what real music even was or is. The late 50,s ,60 & 70,s have produced what we can now call real handmade music played by real musicians. The amount of great music that evolved during that era was unbelievable. Music has never been as great or fear ever will again. Glad i grew up then.
So happy you discovered the Everlys. At one time they were as big as Elvis. Don and Phil were brothers, two years apart in age. Their father was Ike Everly, a country singer and radio host. The boys got their start singing old time country harmonies on their father's show ... try "Kentucky". They had hit after hit ... among my favorites are "Til I Kissed You", and "So Sad".

Hey it's the 77 year old grandma, I was in my senior year in high school when this was recorded. Oh yes these guys were great, they were considered country singers back then but young people in those days loved, rock, country, folk music, we loved it all. Their harmony I believe was the greatest not only because they could harmonize, but as brothers their voices blended so well. Listen to more of their music, so good.
I glad so many of you young folks are listening to the music my generation grew up with! We may be getting old, but we love music and are young at heart. True love and first loves know no age limits.
Classic! Golden oldies as they said back in the seventies and eighties. The Everly Brothers scored their first hit in 1957 with "Bye Bye Love." They came to the party with Elvis Presley. The Righteous Brothers arrived seven years later. used to love watching their TV show back in the 60's. They sound so good singing together because they sing 1/2 step apart from each other. Crying in the rain is my favorite
I came across an act that was (on Crook and Chase??) on The Nashville Network, many years ago. They were a Everly tribute act. They were selected from open auditions. Their harmonies were so close, momma Everly couldn't tell the difference. Glad to see the originals getting attention again, after all these years.
To answer your question: yes, the Everly Brothers were really brothers. They were one of the original generation of Rock 'n' Roll artists along with Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley & the Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley. But unlike the others who were all grown ups the Everly Brothers were teenagers. Their first hit was "Bye Bye Love."
Knew you'd like them India ! "Dream" is probably the greatest heartache song of all time - the Everley's had loads of great songs with those great harmonies. Who's left from the 50's now ? Don Everley , Dion, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Wanda Jackson to name a few.
My favorite Eveyly brothers song was 'Man with Money'... wasnt a well known song compared to their others but its very rock n roll and surprisingly heavy for them
Definitely brothers!!! 60 yrs ago I was nine and my 19 yr old played the Everly Brothers on his record player. I'm still melting. Family genes and speech patterns help them harmonize like angels. 60s groups largely influenced by their harmonies. Even now listen to Extreme singing "More than Words.". Something has to have crossed those guys' influence. Thanks and I enjoyed your reactions.

Greatest harmonies in the history of popular music.....flawless.
Dream is my wife’s favorite song!! YES! Really brothers! Can’t u tell? One reason their harmonies are so close!
I came across an act that was (on Crook and Chase??) on The Nashville Network, many years ago. They were a Everly tribute act. They were selected from open auditions. Their harmonies were so close, momma Everly couldn't tell the difference.
Glad to see the originals getting attention again, after all these years.
More of the Everly Brothers please! :)
Brought back sweet memories..my generation of beautiful music! Yes, they are brother's.
Love watching your smile and your eyes watching these old artists from a more simple time. Fast cars, slow songs, slower women.
My favorite Eveyly brothers song was 'Man with Money'... wasnt a well known song compared to their others but its very rock n roll and surprisingly heavy for them
I'm a 70s kid but was brought up on stuff like this thanks to mum and dad. A great vocal and a great melody is timeless ❤
All I have to say is music is the language of the soul.
