    Oh and I laughed WAYYYY too loud at the pick-up challenge. That's literally me attempting the pickup challenge on all my puzzles, like *awkward face while every piece fells on the floor* 😂😂😂😂

      🤣🤣 I couldn’t stop laughing either. It just went so spectacularly wrong that it was funny! I guess wooden puzzles are just too slippy. I do think though, that if it were carefully placed in an upright position, say between two pieces of card - it would stay together - but it just won’t survive the pick up process required in the pick up challenge! It was fun to try though 😆. Thanks so much for watching!

    Wentworth puzzles are really lovely and they have a variety of styles/images to choose from. The one drawback is how expensive they are. I have bought some from ebay which helps to reduce the cost. I normally pass my done jigsaws along, but not Wentworth, I like to keep those. As you found, you never attempt to pick up a wooden jigsaw because of the slight looseness of the pieces! 😮 No doubt you will enjoy doing more Wentworth puzzles when the funds allow. 😄

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Yes, I agree, they are expensive. I thought they were more because they were wood puzzles, but Wentworths are quite a lot anyway aren’t they? Yes, the pick up was a questionable decision, but it was funny I suppose 😆

      Thanks! I am glad you like the variety - I have tried to focus this year on doing new brands and different types of puzzles that I haven’t tried before, so it’s great that you are enjoying that. Yes the piece shapes are quite unique, but I was really drawn to that when I bought it. I would love to try other more traditional wooden cut puzzles though too. 😃 Thank you so much for watching 😍

      Me too! I was honestly quite sad when it was finished. Gradients are so relaxing to do and this one was particularly nice. I would definitely do another wooden puzzle - especially a high quality one like Wentworth. I enjoyed it a lot! Thanks, I’m getting there with the settling in. Just some more unpacking and tidying to do and I’m pretty much there. 😃 thanks so much for watching!

      I loved it too! It wasn’t so hard in this version because of the pieces. The repeated shapes coupled with a not too gradual gradient made it really manageable. I can see how it would be more challenging in a 1000 piece puzzle version though 😍. Thanks so much for watching x

    Hello Vicky. I just did my 1st wooden puzzle. It is a 700 pc Unidragon called Inexhaustible Abundance (Mandala pattern). It had a few flower and butterfly shaped pieces and the others were odd shapes with a few having similar shapes. It took me 5 days to do it which I thought I was going to do a lot faster. It was very fun and I want to do another. Cheers.

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад +1

      Hiya! That sounds like a lovely one. I think Unidragon’s puzzles look really good! I want to try a more traditional one next, with weird shapes and whimsies! This one was a bit different to the norm I think as it had pieces that were all the same shape. I loved it though! Well done on yours, I hope you find another that you enjoy 😍

      Thank you so much! I don’t think I’ve tried a cork one, but I would definitely do more wooden ones. You can get so many lovely images and there can be a lot of variety to them in terms of image and piece shapes. They are a little more expensive to buy, because of the materials I expect, but a good quality one like a Wentworth is well worth it. 😍

      Hi! Thank you, I wanted it to look a bit brighter and tidier - although it may be starting to look a little cluttered already - I’ve bought several new puzzles recently 😆. A puzzle storage video is an interesting idea - what particular aspects of storage do you mean - space saving? Or how I store the pieces? Thank you for watching 😍

    Interesting puzzle. I did not look too difficult. I recently did a wooden puzzle myself, some no-brand puzzle. But the pieces were all different, and there were some animal shapes. But that is probably because the picture (and shape) of the puzzle were of an elephant. Not like a photograph of an elephant, but rather an artistic rendering of an elephant shape. And being of an elephant shape, I had no edges to puzzle inwards from, so I had to puzzle outwards (something I usually do not do). But I do think this puzzle has pieces that interlocks a lot better than the puzzle I did. In my puzzle there were many puzzle pieces that you had to slide into other puzzle pieces, like side to side. Thus they did not hold together at all, though some of the puzzle pieces did.
    I wonder though, about your puzzle, if one could hold it vertically, if one had it on a board which one carefully lifted into a vertical position holding on to the top pieces of the puzzle. Because it seemed to me from the video that the pieces fell out because you lifted the edge up from the table with no support under the puzzle pieces, so the pieces just fell down / out of the puzzle. But perhaps they would hold interlocked if the puzzle were vertical and held on the top by the wheel looking pieces. But the small pieces might fall out though, since such pieces on the sides may not interlock as well. Regardsless, I would recommend you try a random-cut wooden puzzle as well, to compare difficulty with this puzzle.

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Hiya! I agree 100% I think that if I’d carefully lifted the puzzle between two flat surfaces and placed it upright, it would have held. The pieces all interlock and hook around each other because of their shapes, but obviously it did not survive the pick up transition from flat to upright so it just fell apart. It was fun to try though 😃. I also think your idea to compare it to a shaped, random cut wooden puzzle with the whimsy shapes is a good idea. I have seen a few pictures of those and I think they tend to be more “wiggly” - less interlocking and just generally more loose. That seems to be the nature of wooden puzzles, but this one was less like that than your average I would say. Thanks so much for watching, and for your comment 😍

    Hi Vicky !!
    It is nice to find you settled in for puzzling. Just so you know, there was a slight echo in the room, but wasn't annoying.
    I have had experience in building several brands of wooden puzzles, but not all. My favorite, so far, is Liberty Puzzles because it has a lot of artistic whimsical pieces, some can even build you a 3-D out of some of the pieces! Another one is handmade, not laser-cut pieces, which makes the puzzle outrageously expensive but they are gorgeous, challenging and very enjoyable. I personally do not like Wentworth because they are way too easy with very little whimsicals, plus their customer service is awful.
    Speaking of whimsicals, I would love to see a puzzle made of just whimsicals...though I have a very small one from, of course, Escher. But a much larger one, 500 or 1000pcs, cardboard or wooden.
    Have you ever had a puzzle made out of cork? If you are interested, please send me your email, and I will be happy to give you more details.
    I honestly was waiting for that pickup challenge (hee hee) , as I KNEW it would be a disaster!!! You really made me laugh!

      Hiya,
      Yes, I’m getting there with my puzzle space now. It still wasn’t quite fully set up when I filmed this, my new MDF board was right next to me, my curtains weren’t up so there was nothing soft to stop the echo. I’m hoping it will be better in the next video - thanks for letting me know 😃.
      I would like to try some different brands, and especially one with the whimsies. I like this Wentworth, but I don’t think it was extra difficult. I haven’t tried one of their others so I can’t say how easy or hard they are. Thankfully I haven’t had to use their customer service either - that’s a shame you’ve had bad experiences with that. I will try a Liberty puzzle, I’ve heard a lot of good things about them 😍.
      I haven’t tried a cork puzzle, no. One of my other subscribers actually mentioned that too. I’ll have to give one a try. My email is in my video description, but it’s victoria_clifford@outlook.com - that’d be great if you could send me some details.
      I know, the pick up challenge was terrible - I think it would have held if I’d propped it up carefully between two pieces of card or something like that, but it just couldn’t survive a traditional pick up. I had a laugh though, so it was worth it just for that 😃.
      Thank you for watching x
