Beautiful! My grandfather, the musician Alberto Williams assisted in London 1890-1900 to a concert by Cécile Chaminade and wrote a protofeminist article in a journal of Bs.As. about it, praising enormously this great pianist and composer .
Yeah i'm getting angry, I spent 8 years studying music in university, trying to get into classical / romantic etc since I came from a completely different background... And no teacher ever mentioned the works of Chaminade. This speaks to me so much more than anything Chopin ever wrote, that recurring theme is insane and the whole thing is a rollercoaster.
@@cooltrades7469 I... did get into that music, this is literally what I'm saying, I spent 8 years studying it. I'm angry that pieces written by women were completely overlooked for the entirety of my education, because this speaks to me more than the ones I was taught about. Wonderful. I discovered this French female composer (whom I knew only by name) thanks to her Concertino for the flute, which I heard this morning on (French) Radio Classique.
C.Chaminade est, sans conteste et quelque soit la période, la plus douée des femmes compositeurs ! C.Chaminade is, undoubtedly and whatever the period, the most talented women composers!

I have always been looking for a channel like this one and haven’t found it until today, one day after I created my own one. You are doing a great job, congrats
That main recurring part sounds so epic. This piece feels so confused, like it goes from sounding like the heros final stand to completely resolved in 5 seconds over and over again
Your channel is a real treasure-trove for new players like me. Thank you so much for all your work and helping me find so much great music. This also reminds me a bit of Joel Sartore's PhotoArk: record them before they're forgotten in time...
I've listened to a lot of recordings of this piece, and this is my absolute favorite. The sound is so clean and soft, especially in the middle registers-what kind of piano are you playing on, if you don't mind my asking? And your playing is precise and disciplined, but so expressive as well! I'm just very impressed, and I love this recording-thank you for posting it, it's a treasure!
@@PianoScoreVids I have "'The Giant"' in Native Instruments, too, but I've never been able to get it to sound this good. Your playing and recording audio quality are both excellent!
Such lively talent, so overlooked in more recent times. New to me until UK's Radio 3 played her Callirhoe symphonic ballet last week. It's on a Dutton CD / SACD with the BBC Concert Orchestra. Highly enjoyable and, wouldn't you guess?, unrecognised by Shazam!
I find it curious that so many piano composers ignore duplication of notes in the treble and bass clefs. Listen at 2:56. In the score the right hand plays c, a, f, e flat (top to bottom) half notes. On the second beat, the righthand plays the f and e flat again, even though those notes are sustained in the treble clef.
Thank you for introducing me to another new composer. I had and still have a score of Chaminade which I found difficult to play forty years ago. I wonder if it is the Chaminade!
I find the second Arabesque a better piece, more ispired in material. Here we have an execution that underline the hidden spanish character, so common in Chaminade' s output ... Good execution!
@@PianoScoreVids That's actually impressive, I myself have been too lazy to even finish 1 piece in recent months xD Btw what happened? You haven't been active in the composer chat on WhatsApp for quite a long time, haven't you?
Looking back at my comment, I have to admit that they don't really sound similar. Maybe I was being a bit too enthusiastic about comparing different works to each other :/
Sad to see people tainting a poinient piece of music by projecting their dispositions in the comments! I find the combined straightforwardness and saturation of this arabesque wonderful. I'm confused as to who's performing this, but the leggiero section was projected beautifully, definitely my favorite moment here! Thank you for uploading Edit: I've noticed your paypal, and that you are a doctor of mathematics... to tell the truth I'm beside myself! I'm approaching my sophomore year in my mathematics degree also as someone greedy to expand my piano habits and awareness, and so I'm enthralled to have stumbled on your channel. It sounds like 5-6 different pieces spliced together.. I like the individual parts but (as a non-musician) I can't really follow the melody as it changes so drastically and rapidly.. The pianist is excellent as always though ;)
Check out it's resemblance to 'Lord Willoughby's Welcome Home', a 16th Century English ballad: ruclips.net/video/xB6BNo2x9x8/видео.html When I first listened to this it was a bit mind blowing.
schizophrenic? in architecture there is the term eclecticism, mashing different things/styles together which often don't mix very well. romantic music is generally very experimental and freeform (in contrast to i.e: renaissance music, where suspense is carefully crafted). classical music on the other hand has comparatively lack of sophistication when it comes to texture, baroque (especially late era) a lack of rhythmical variation.
The inflection/color change in the arpeggio at 2:52 is so beautiful. I'm touched!
La parte iniziale è fiabesca , un tema stupendo
