One of those pieces in a major key that manages to be sad. It goes sad - angry - sad, with a bit more angry and acceptance at the end. Absolutely in love with it

Gamma1734, thank you for playing these compositions and making known such musical gems from the past that would otherwise be lost to the common public. Much appreciated.

Vraiment, Julian, vous avez l’étoffe d’un pianiste de concert. Let’s go! Et quelle magnifique pièce de Chaminade.

It sounds like her Arabesque number 1 op 61.

Very convenient, I just recorded 6 Études de concert, Op.35: Automne. Great playing, Chaminade is an unsung master.

Reminiscent of her theme + variations op. 89 (also a brilliant piece)

I did not know this piece which is particularly charming and the interpretation is dazzling. Is Chaminade a great composer? I'm not sure. She has composed a lot but as you point out her inspiration is very uneven. Indeed, there are many "boring and uninteresting pieces". But she was certainly a great pianist to whom we owe a few masterpieces, among them her "Theme and variations" a perfect composition and one of my favorites. Fortunately, it has not been forgotten by pianists.

Hum....Many other pieces are interesting a part that you mention...i know that she had to live by herself and decided to leave France and go go the USA where She compose a lot and was very appreciate there....i think she chose to compose easy pieces to have money immediately to live. She could do better but you Know...a man Can live like a van Gogh at the limit of the human comunity..for a woman it is really more difficult ... Generally, biographies of women composer show a lot of suffering and difficulties to live by their talent..

The slow theme sounds exactly like Opus 89... just slower

Yes you are right, there are very similar passages, but the piece you mention is a lot more virtuosic

Gamma1734 Yeah it is a little bit more fumbly for the fingers - so is the middle section here!

Is this recorded by your Kawai hybrid piano? Great sound and huge dynamic range!

Yes is, but I use several piano Vst's. Thanks! Might do a video about these technicalities in future
