They were loyal to daemon the gold cloaks I think they were trying to prevent anyone from leaving so rhaenys could kill them and nobody would be able to see if she made that choice. That’s why they weren’t following otto’s orders nor will they in the future. A Hightower tries to take control as leader of the gold cloaks and they just turned around and said “daemon Targaryen gave us these cloaks” we are only loyal to him and kills the Hightower.
I think they were trying to keep Rhaenys from escaping. They received word from the Hightower’s to keep Meraxys and Rhaenys under guard because they didn’t want her to leave and give the Blacks a head’s up. If you rewatch the scene, Rhaenys looks towards the doors as they’re closing it, almost wondering if she’ll make it out in time. Those doors were built for the Dragon Pit- they were reinforced to prevent Dragons like Balerion from escaping.
its tragic to see both Daemon and Aemond, second sons who embodied what it meant to be Valyrian Dragonlords, never get the opportunity to rule. Either of them would have built a new Valyria out of Westeros.
They were made to conquer, not to rule. If you think they would have made good kings you’ve missed a major point of the entire book series and both shows.
It's incredible how many comments don't realize she just slaughtered houndreds of innocents and pretend she is being a nice girl here I guess if they aren't named character the average drooling viewer doesn't realize this, nor do the writers considering this is never acknowledged ever again.
So Rhaenys is happy to kill innocents to escape but not kill the people who 1- imprisoned her 2- kill the people who imprisoned her and prevent a war that will save TENS OF THOUSANDS of lives. Spectacle over substance was one of the biggest issues people had with the latter seasons of game of thrones. And before anyone thinks to say “her respect for Alicent as a mother stopped her” just think how many mothers she’s just killed trying to escape. Such a BS ending to an otherwise superb episode and amazing season so far.
yeah, i agree, this was a weird narrative. it's obviously cool or whatever, but she definitely could have done something more noteworthy like burn a fleet, take out the gates, or damage the dragonpit.
Yeah, but that would ignited the war sooner, because the allies of the Greens would march their armies against the blacks after hearing about this, and after all what she lost, Rhaenys wont be the one to throw the first stone, that was a warning shoot, that the Greens didn't listen.
Otto pretty clearly ordered not to seal the doors. Also I think the Blacks would get more backlash, considering one of their main supporters just killed hundreds of innocent bystanders in a coronation.
I mean, Otto was screaming for them to let the people out while goldcloaks who are known to be loyal to Daemon seal them in while Rhaenys one of Rhaenyra's strongest allys is literally killing them. If I was a peasant, I'd side with the Greens on this one.

@@a_fuckin_spacemarine7514 Well apparently dragons are sometimes more intelligent than humans in GOT, said by some people including Tyrion in the show, but overall, dragons and how much they can think is inconsistent.
Great casting for Aegon. He's just as sullen faced as his book counterpart.
Why did she went through all that trouble entering the throne room killing a number of people on the way and not give the killing blow to the group of people that matters?
Here in Brazil we call that Green's moment of "Trancou o cú" and it sounds like "Locked the asshole" KKKK
Mekeys us,a gorgeous dragon, very graceful and that huge spikes it has around its head givevit a peculiar look!
This shows Black Team are the real villains.
3:53 Look at how Aemond is standing. He's ready to fight a *dragon* to save himself and his family.
And his ass would lose.
@@chalor182 Oh, definitely. But I would've liked to see him try.
He would’ve lose especially if it was just him and rhaeyns.
Once he has his dragon, he’ll teach her the value of finishing what you start.
@@matthewriley7826 she didn't start anything though
Aegon's entrance was dramatic than the dragon destroying the pit
This has to be one of the best scenes in any tv show. Had nothing but chills when I first saw it.
They have no idea how to handle the power they so desperately seek. Otto screaming to keep the door open and no one is listening. Aegon hiding behind his mother. Pathetic.
Alicent moved in front of her child to shield him. What should Aegon have done, shove his mother aside and jumped at the dragon? Greens knew they couldn't do anything. There was no point but to just wait for Rhaenys to kill them or leave. Alicent followed her motherly instinct by protecting her child.
Maybe you should face a dragon, and then we’ll see how you do. Also, she went in front of him, he didn’t run back and cry behind his mother’s back, hell he stood almost perfectly still the entire time. Also, the person you’re rooting for probably killed dozens of people when she broke through the ground with her dragon, so some food for thought.
@@acrazysheepdog1555 he did cry out behind her and closed his eyes. And they’re royalty they all have blood on their hands. One doesn’t become king or Queen without blood.
Самое ироничное, что драконы зелёных не рвутся защищать своих всадников, как это сделал бы тот же Караксес
I mean neither does Rhaenyra lets be real if the crown was decided by merit it would be Lionel strong, Otto, or Aemond on the throne
For a second I thought the crown looked too big 😂
how to destroy any support you could get in the king landing(and possibely a big chunk of the crownlands) in 10 seconds
The way he flew out of.. flappy Bird level 86
Alicent going from standing between Aegon and a dragon to protect him to selling him out a couple months later is wild. What a change in character
Loved this dragon definitely the most intimidating i think. He has like a collar if spikes
She's nicknamed the red queen, for a reason
All those innocent people dead but the main big bad guys are left okay 😂😂😂
Helaena's face after Memeys and Rhaenys Enter the room!!! That girl is excited to see what happens!! 👏👏👏
This dragon is the coolest looking one ever
Caraxes looks much cooler
No Wail till we see Sunfyre! I cannot wait for that
"Cool" is highly subjective. But HOTD's visual effects artists have done splendidly making each dragon unique and distinctive, unlike the GOT dragons.
@@danieldickson8591 that’s there opinion
Ah yes, nothing endears the commoners to your cause like trampling a bunch of them with your dragon.
Meleys is fucking badass looking bro
So many great actors in HOD
Leaving through the floor was the only way to go, lol so dramatic🎉
Cannot wait for Rhaenyra's death scene when killed by Aegon's dragon in front of her own son
She truly fkin deserves it in the show after doing this
Lmao the black team still won so
She couldve prevented the war right there
Targeryans with dragons: God's
Targaryans without dragons: fodder
I think Rahnaeys spared them because of Allicent. Not only did she have a soft corner for her, when she saw that Allicent was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for her son - she turned away
What was the point of killing all those people? And not the main targets?
She needed to escape somehow ig
Rhaenys should have burned them all.
and would have proved before fifty thousand witnesses that the Blacks are worse than Maegor the Cruel. Half of Westeros would immediately rally Daeron to Oldtown, the other half would immediately abandon the cause of Rhaenyra...
That's the ironborn way.
This is very akin to the end of GOT with Drogon burning down the iron throne, doing something utterly idiotic for the sake of symbolism...
Drogon did symbolism on his own, which is why it was dumb, because dragons dont understand symbolism. Rhaenys was not a mad queen however, she just wants to be left alone.
@@yossi7765 And I'm sure Rhaenyra really appreciated that her aunt didn't put to the flame all the traitors so that the war would be over swiftly and none of her children would be brutally murdered just because she "wanted to be left alone"...Oh wait.
@@CatwithaKnife12 while also murdering countless smallfolk.
In the books, it's a plot point that Tywin isn't loved in Kings Landing because he sacked it like, 17 years prior... This whole sequence should be huge for how the commoners view that side of the conflict, but it just sort of gets glossed over...
@@TheWorldBelowDnD @sebastianwillows Clearly killing small folk is not a concern of hers considering how she's most definetly murdered a few hundred of them by bursting out of the floor on dragon back. Regardless of whether yes or no this scene was in the book this scene is idiotic. Both in accords to the character and the story
D&D are proud. Stupid TV entertainment, always killing logic.
Meleys is my favorite dragon.
When everyone was looking up at meleys and rhenys in disbelief after rhenys decided not to burn them to crisp, rhenys should've been like "SIKE bitch jk... DRACARYS!!!!".. Wasted opportunity
Aemond: you are no King!
Rhaenys is so badass. She's in my top 3 favorite characters.
Can anyone explain to me why they were trying to close the gates instead of open them? Did Rhaenys have a deal with the guards or something?
I think it's just understandable panic.
@@andyhoover8531 lol wut
They were Daemon soldiers.....look at their golden clothing
That one word and the enitre plot for the House of the dragons changes
Rhaenys is the best character!! ❤
She just killed hundreds.
Just one word would have spared their house & the kingdom so much trouble.
"Open the Doors"
You heard the man soldiers: "Hold the Door"
How many Aegon Targaryens are there? Aegon the conqueror, this dude, Jon Snow.
*Tail randomly kills everybody else but kills no main character on the stage*
Rhaenys: "I'd love to kill you all right here and now but we got 2 more seasons and sadly more people and dragons on both sides have to die"
The greens cowering in fear 👏👏
Rhaenys had the chance to stop the war before it even started by killing the greens 😂
They will blame Rhaenys killing civillians on patriarchy
The score in this damn show 💋🤌🏻 utter PERFECTION
its tragic to see both Daemon and Aemond, second sons who embodied what it meant to be Valyrian Dragonlords, never get the opportunity to rule. Either of them would have built a new Valyria out of Westeros.
As much of a pedo and asshole daemon was, he was badass and definitely fit to rule, aemond would've been a great pick as well.
They were made to conquer, not to rule. If you think they would have made good kings you’ve missed a major point of the entire book series and both shows.
They should have married themselves. That would be an alliance, women will destroy the realm, if you let them.
It's incredible how many comments don't realize she just slaughtered houndreds of innocents and pretend she is being a nice girl here
I guess if they aren't named character the average drooling viewer doesn't realize this, nor do the writers considering this is never acknowledged ever again.
Same fans were happy when mad queen destroyed King's Landing
People are just unhinged
I don’t care what anyone says… Rhaenys looks attractive as hell suited up in her dragon rider armor. And I’m 30
Now that’s what I call Statement!🔥.
I always thought that Aegon the Conqueror's very first crown was a red ruby studded shape ring.
I can’t stop thinking about sherk
You can tell Rhaenys by the way she barely opened her mouth to say dracarys.
Oh Rhaenys ☹. Just one word!!
I thought GoT was dead with the 8th season. Looks like there's still competent people in the crew.
Noncanon stupid scene that never happened in the books.
true i just pretand it didnt happened
So Rhaenys is happy to kill innocents to escape but not kill the people who
1- imprisoned her
2- kill the people who imprisoned her and prevent a war that will save TENS OF THOUSANDS of lives.
Nobles don't care about the lives of the smallfolk.
@@Letkharable maybe not, but they care a lot less about the lives of the people who held them captive. Fact.
yeah, i agree, this was a weird narrative. it's obviously cool or whatever, but she definitely could have done something more noteworthy like burn a fleet, take out the gates, or damage the dragonpit.
When dragons get involved almost always innocents die.
To be fair she tried to convince her husband not to declare for either side. She wanted to stay out of it completely and just move on with her life.
The first Show up of the red queen
You cannot say Alicent didn’t love her kids she stepped in from to Aegon though that would do little to protect him
This is the baddest bitch thing I have ever seen
DRACARYS them all
Yeah, but that would ignited the war sooner, because the allies of the Greens would march their armies against the blacks after hearing about this, and after all what she lost, Rhaenys wont be the one to throw the first stone, that was a warning shoot, that the Greens didn't listen.
She killed innocents but you like it because it's girl power 🤡
She killed hundreds of of civilians
How much loyalty did the people owe the greens if they were willingly sealing them in with a full grown dragon?
THIS!!!!!!!
Otto pretty clearly ordered not to seal the doors. Also I think the Blacks would get more backlash, considering one of their main supporters just killed hundreds of innocent bystanders in a coronation.
@@adamboh393 they won’t face that backlash at all but the greens did when they killed a lord.
@@adamboh393 but nobody was killed though
Because we didn't see a dead body
I mean, Otto was screaming for them to let the people out while goldcloaks who are known to be loyal to Daemon seal them in while Rhaenys one of Rhaenyra's strongest allys is literally killing them. If I was a peasant, I'd side with the Greens on this one.
To me, Heleana was nervous, you can see it in the background. When Aegon turned to face the crowd, Heleana was fidgeting and kept looking down.
If Aegon ii was Maegor the cruel, Aegon iii would’ve been in sunfyre’s belly.
This is just stupid. She could end the war right there before it started. War where her own grandchildren are targeted. And do nothing. Totally out of her character and any logic. Looks like "cool but fool" is rule now.
Yes but 9 episodes is too short. For a show.
@@kronoscamron7412 One reason more to not add just nonsensical scene.
but it was mothers respect
@@gaichimaru9514: Maybe, but it was madness and stupidity. And borderline treason.
@augustusasper97 Ummmm........not to be a kinslayer (She's a cousin of the greens from what I gather) and, as a mother, she sympathizes with Alicent who bravely shields her son.
I have a bias, but I loved this scene. Is it problematic? Yes. Do I care? No.
The fact that Aegon hid behind his mother shows he wasn't strong enough for the throne.
Facts. He coward like the little prince he is. His brother had more balls then him.
While Rhaenyra used her bastards as meat shields? So stunning and brave
@@Keram-io8hv It's episode 4 of season 2 and Rhaenyra hasn't even left Dragonstone, while Aegon has already managed to participate in an actual battle (even though it was foolish of him).

wait wait wait how did a dragon break out of an enclosure specifically built to hold dragons inside???
Dragons can't be controlled... They were living as there
