You should definitely try the Z650 RS and compare it to this one. A quick question: how is it the heat coming from the engine for the Triumph, especially at low speeds and in city-like riding? Can you say if its better/worse compared to e. g. the Honda 650?
@@MrDarcy-OlMan That's interesting, because I've read a lot of complaints about the heat coming from Triumph's 660 triple engine (both from the Trident and Tiger Sport), I guess the weather and riding conditions matter too. Waiting for the Z650RS video!
There's heat. I have had a TS660 since launch, heat pours on right between ankle and calf. Noticeable in the hot southern US summer when wearing low cut boots. Still love it @vk8458
I chose the CB650R over this. The hugger for the reg plate doesn’t look great which you conveniently didn’t show that side. I now have a Triumph Street Twin, again for favourable in many ways to a Trident, IMO.
Brilliant bike in the best colour( but I'm biased) I went from a street triple to the trident mainly for the looks but also it suits what I want in a bike more. the other two bikes I considered where the z650rs and the cb650r but the trident had more I liked about it than the others.
I have been riding a W800 for the past two years, I'm getting rid of it ( there's a long story ). Thinking about a Trident 660. Does the accelerator cut out when you're trail braking?
I loved my trident however I don’t see how it can be recommended to anyone 6ft and over , I’m 6ft 2 and it gave me really bad back ache so unfortunately I had to sell it.
I just can’t come to terms with the gaping gap between the rear wheel and the seat that is pointing aimlessly skyward. Just watched a review of the Ducati Diavel by the MF which has exactly the same styling and both bikes look awful from the rear three quarter angle. There is virtually no weather protection from the rear wheel that will cover the rider in filth on anything but the driest day, which is most of the time in the UK. I want the rear wheel to look like it is part of the bike and I don’t want the seat to be floating in mid air and disconnected from the frame of the bike.
@@davidforsdike4343 that made me sad today. A place where orange is not respected to be the superior color. 😂 I bought an orange truck 25 years ago. Still own that truck and have come close to that color for Hal my life
Looks are subjective and I think the cb650r is the better looking bike although the trident is a very good looking bike, the 4 pot on the cb is a much better engine in every way
I got the black one & put Evotech Tail tidy & a colour coded Ermax Nose 👃 fairing & put fender extenders on too. With the Quick Shifter it really goes.I do agree about modern classics looking better & more character.
Thank you for a nice, personal review. All this bike needs are a set of real fenders. That rear abomination is just 'tarded and nigh on useless. It looks fine, much better than any of the bug-fugly KTM "standards". Speaking of standards...I can NOT abide the term "naked" being used to describe what should be called a "STANDARD" style motorcycle. I know where the use of "naked" came from, the childish and mind-numbingly priapic magazine morons who coined it because touring rigs were called "full dress" or "dressers" so they thought with their privates and said, "naked". FTN. Keep putting the great in Great Britain, lad! Well done on this review! SS
Still good ? What ? "A couple of years" ? This thing is brand new ! 660 came out january 2021, which would date the earliest available batch 3 years to the month from your review, even then only if post-covid production could cover your local dealers demand fast enough. 3 years for any new model is the time needed to cure first childhood illnesses. I´ve had way faster sports bikes collect dust in the corner for longer, dude. Its not like they got wrinkles from waiting.

triumph have deliberately made that to keep it as beginner friendly bike, ETV (electronic throttle valve) can be adjusted and the lag can be rid, I have done it on mine, check out the short video.
The special part you're getting here is the sound of the triple in a category dominated by parallel twins. I think it's an attractive, reserved design that doesn't take risks. I'll definitely admit other 650ish bikes have more direct styling, but in its class I believe it's the only 3 cylinder. I personally love the sound, and for me part of the reason of getting a specific bike is it sounds good
@@tyranid05 I’d go 675 street triple or second hand Daytona (if looking for a sportsbike) for a 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder cbr650r or cb650. The Trident came out a few years ago to great fanfare but disappeared completely off the radar. Ditto the adventure and other mode of same engine. it does have a slipper assist clutch...
I have been riding a W800 for the past two years, I'm getting rid of it ( there's a long story ). Thinking about a Trident 660. Does the accelerator cut out when you're trail braking?
This bike looks and sounds quite interesting. I might be interested in the Daytona 660 too, same engine right?
I loved my trident however I don’t see how it can be recommended to anyone 6ft and over , I’m 6ft 2 and it gave me really bad back ache so unfortunately I had to sell it.
I love the pumpkin orange colour...
I’ve got a tail tidy and the smart trident shape grab handles on my 660 and it looks so much better
Much prefer this look, sounds amazing too,
A lot of the new nakeds look like cheap Chinese 125cc
You had me at orange! Such a great color! Makes everything better!
Not in Northern Island.
@@davidforsdike4343 that made me sad today. A place where orange is not respected to be the superior color. 😂 I bought an orange truck 25 years ago. Still own that truck and have come close to that color for Hal my life
Cool paint job
I have a z650rs and it really is excellent 👍
Since filming this I have ridden one! Review coming soon
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Lovely! I'll be looking out for that one. 👍
Im 250lbs 6 foot. Is this bike too small for me?
@@jakeruchti1 you could ride it, Mr Darcy is 6ft 1" and the Old Man is 6ft 2" 👍🏼
The fuel tank is ugly. Still prefer my Moto Guzzi V 7
Looks are subjective and I think the cb650r is the better looking bike although the trident is a very good looking bike, the 4 pot on the cb is a much better engine in every way
How tall are u? Im interested in the trident but im over 6'1 . ..
I am 6ft 1" 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan well alrighty then. :😁
good video
Please do review the Kawasaki Z650RS.
Coming soon! It’ll be out in a couple of weeks. Available for Members now
Saludos esta muy bonita esa moto, saludos ❤
I got the black one & put Evotech Tail tidy & a colour coded Ermax Nose 👃 fairing & put fender extenders on too.
With the Quick Shifter it really goes.I do agree about modern classics looking better & more character.
Darcy, review for JAWA PERAK PLZ
Who designed the exhaust..?
Stevie Wonder
The Rocket is the king of kings.Nothing else matter.
Yes to Kawa z650RS please...
Coming soon!
SS
Triumph specs show slip & assist clutch.
Its not like they got wrinkles from waiting.
the roads anywhere in Europe are smoother than those in the UK... the sixth richest nation in the world.
I di like the way this looks, alot.
Great video, as usual, thank you Darcy. I would love to see you review the Kawaszaki Z650RS.
This might sound a bit weird but where did you get your pants from
Trousers .. 😛
@@woofiooxx pants up north
@@timothybrockbank7474 technically no . Very few call it pants up here. I hardly know anyone that call it pants / pantaloons. But you do , guess you’re in that percentage 👍
@@woofiooxx maybe I’m special
They are Fuel Trousers/ Pants, here is the link 👍🏼

That title goes to sv650
Did you notice the strange throttle response? Seems to have a laggy response to inputs, meaning you can't blip it without a slight delay? I test rode one and couldn't get past that.
triumph have deliberately made that to keep it as beginner friendly bike, ETV (electronic throttle valve) can be adjusted and the lag can be rid, I have done it on mine, check out the short video.
Hate the paintwork - why cant they just do it one colour!!!
They come in single colours
You lost me at saying you'd take this over a stripple
IMO it’s better looking, the reality is I wouldn’t have either of them
For the guitarists out there, this is the Les Paul Junior of motorcycles.
Epiphone or Gibson?
Very ordinary looking bike…. Nothing special and no usp s. Much better bikes out there.
The few people I know who have bought the trident have it restricted for a A2 licence or are bored with it after 12 months. Completely agree with you on the triple tho. I had a Daytona 675 with arrows exhaust and a brilliant bike. See what triumph do with the new Daytona 660 when launched.
@@davehudson2064 I have a 765 ST RS, but originally began looking at Triumph because I liked the design of the Trident. I thought I was going to purchase that one until the sales guy waved the keys to the RS at me and asked if I'd like to ride that one next, and, well 😂
@@tyranid05 exactly my point. 👍 bet you wouldn’t buy a Trident now lol 😂
@@davehudson2064 actually I still would. Not new, but I really do like the styling. It wouldn't be a main bike, but when I'm shopping for a toy I don't mind garage art and the used prices are pretty reasonable. I have a soft spot for the Trident
To me, it's just a other ugly bike without proper usable splash guard fenders
Really can't get excited about this look, spec or awful rear non-mudguard....
The Trident came out a few years ago to great fanfare but disappeared completely off the radar. Ditto the adventure and other mode of same engine.
Meanwhile Suzuki came from obscurity and blew everything away.
Must be quality or engine gremlins in the Triumph Trident as I never hear anything about them nor see them.
Yea right…
How can you carry anything. Silly looking backend.
I can’t take any motorcycle that has that booted up the arse rear end & that naff afterthought of a bitza rear mudguard come number plate holder botch up seriously . This is the result of motorcycle manufactures employing computer gamer nerds into their design departments .
