    Hi yammie, great vid. I test rode the gs850, trident 660, hornet, cb650r and gsx8s and bought gsx8s. I’m 6ft 78kg and it fits me perfect, cb650r was smooth as butter but gsx8 made me smile as that torque it so addictive.

    Trident looks are killer but, for once, the neo retro look of the Honda with those beautiful exhaust pipes I think takes it.

      Yeah but also 30-40 lbs more and feels even more difference on board tbh (at least for me not as nimble) but I’m a trident owner to be fair so I guess not talking from a very impartial position.
      For me the biggest change I’d make to the bike is a slightly longer 6th (maybe algo 5th gear) because cruising at 130kph you’re at higher rpm that you’d like (i don’t remember the number but it feels you’re unnecessarily high in revs)

    As a 50 year old learner I wanted a learner+ first bike. Cross referenced against all of the above apart from the Aprilia and decided on the Trident for 1 reason, I feared the 100bhp of the Tuono. Defo on my list for 2nd bike. Over the moon with the Trident, for now.

    Kawasaki Z650 or Z650RS should’ve made the list, and the Honda Hornet 750. Drop the Tuono: it’s a beautiful bike, but at $10,500, it’s playing in a different league, and should be compared to bikes that can measure up, in features and price (Triumph Street Triple comes to mind). Nice info on all the bikes. I do like the Trident. Triumph scored a hit with it!

    I have the Trident. I feel you compared it to more sporty bikes and think the Trident is more of a “cruiser” because of its riding stance. Cruisers are cool, but not my style, hence I found the Trident. One big question I have is exhaust…. People are too soft on maunfacturers. First we see Aprillia can offer a 6 axis IMU and all that goes with it for $200, and remember there will be a nice profit in that price too. Then we are told Suzuki can't give us an IMU on a bike thats almost $9k because of cost. Those two things can't both be true and we know, here in the 21st century the bare parts (chips) for consumer electronics are actually dirt cheap. Phones have had more processing power than old spaceships for decades now, as well as moving on at speed with development.
    Manufacturers are fitting ride by wire and elcetronic dash not because it's fun but because it is cheaper for them AND they get to charge more when these faux expensive items fail. They can easily add an IMU and other stuff like cruise control because the wiring and integration is already there. They won't because A) it makes theie 'premium' bikes command a higher retail price, B) people assume it's expensive and don't like challenging manufacturers or even sales staff and C) there is a massive segment of riders that are too 'macho' or 'oldskool' to even consider having something that improves safety on their bikes. They see it as an afront to their skills.
    Motorcycling is great fun and we need to encourage more people into it - younger folk and women especially. Too many middle aged men slowing progress and occasionally creating a bad image for us riders.
    People like Yammie ought to be calling this stuff out, not pandering to the dinosaurs and profit greedy.

      yes you should get the 300/400/500... i got the cb650r after starting riding last year on a rebel 500.. even though it has very smooth throttle, it's very easy to go super fast...

      Yes, 100% start on a 250-500cc bike. Ride it until you realize you're riding the wheels off it to have fun in the corners. Then get something larger. I recommend 3-10k miles on your first bike.

      You're gonna love it! Sometimes I miss getting the jitters when getting on my bike, like I did when I started riding. I was full of nervous energy and it was exhilarating! But it has been replaced with confidence in tipping the bike into turns, nailing apex lines and knowing the bike well enough to keep the front tire just barely touching the ground. Good luck and God bless on your biking journey and grats on the new bike :D

      E-Clutch is a £100 option but you'd be daft not to choose it at that price. The E-clutch versions will command a higher resale second hand, way more than the £100 up front cost. Even if you don't want it, remember - you can ride the bike like normal too.

    • @chrissy.v
      @chrissy.v 9 месяцев назад +3

      Go experience both first. On paper, yes.
      In real life it's quite the opposite. Susuki's finishing and attention to detail are far better than the tridents. (Trident uses a thin seat material that easily stains permanently, you can hear creaking on some part when you sit on it, the buttons ect don't feel as high quality). Don't get me wrong, the trident isn't a bad bike but in comparison it's built to a price. On the suzuki everything feels solid. Also, the torque of the suzuki feels amazing and the extra weight translates more toward stability than sluggishness.
      Both bikes have their pros, but the trident has more cons.

  • @Rotterdam61
    @Rotterdam61 10 месяцев назад

    Why compare it to an old model mt07? Why include a bike you cannot compare. Hoe come I know before I watch that the Trident will be your favourite except slightly less than a far more expensive bike. Makes me wonder how much you are sponsored by Triumph…

    • @ellwoodwolf
      @ellwoodwolf 10 месяцев назад

      Yeah when you get to the used market- the price difference drastically changes it. There are 7k out the door , low mileage mt-07 and tridents. Honda owners don’t sell their cb650r.... not many 8s out there.... and 660... better sports bike and better naked out there.
      Spaghetti boy with a quickshifter is more than a 2024 mt-09.... seriously.
