I reached out to Arthur about this video and asked about the tenth card to cut. He told me it's Urban Evolution because at 5 mana its too slow. Please upvote this comment so others can see it.
I stuck with perrie. Increased the cards that are supplying shield counters, upped the proliferation and card draw, focused on just 4/5 counter types, added cards that copy creatures like perrie or denry, etc., add on trample or flying to everyone, cover your bases with counter spells...the tests have been potent! My group is goin to test our upgraded capenna commander decks next week, so ill see how the deck does then! Cool video guys!
If anything Sanctuary Warden is a great card to put in due to its effect: ETB put two shield counters on Sanctuary Warden. If this card attacks remove A counter from a creature or Planeswalker you control draw a card and create a 1/1 green white citizen creature token. Sanctuary Warden is great for draw and to make blockers and it goes hand in hand with Brokers Ascendancy. The other thing if you use Sanctuary Warden with Jeannie, Jetmirs Second you can make even more Cats or Dogs to combo
Arthur seems chill as hell, loved the video and I really liked the way he went with this precon, I've felt that WotC didn't do great with the brokers because they focused so heavily on doing combat, and he really focused on controlling combat instead
@@poofypeanut0221 yeah, I don't love combat personally, that's definitely a major thing for me, but I was really hoping with the "mob lawyers" we'd get more control rather than shield counters and stuff- I understand why they did it, I just felt like it should have been more of a strangle type of control
honestly i love perrie (he one of my top 10 fav commanders.) but i dont think he shouldve been the face commander kros shouldve kros introduces goad and can be politicky but the only problem with kros is that i think he shouldve said "at the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. if it was this way he wouldv ebeen really great and not busted in any wa i can see, lets say if you didnt want to put the counter on an opponent creature or maybe none of em have any you could put one on one of yours but if you do put it on a opponent it gets the tap and goaded which is good but the trample now sticks out cuz you gave the creature 1 more damage to go through.
I recently bought this pre con just before this video came out and I really enjoy how it plays and im low on funds atm and to see that I can upgrade it for less then 20 bucks is pretty awesome
Great upgrade guide Arthur - really liked your take on the deck, it's the sort of thing I really enjoy - tread the wire, see if you can pull a win out from under everyone's noses - cheers!
I'm sure everyone wanted to get more ideas on the front faced commander but seriously I love this pivot and playstyle you came up with! It actually makes me want to try it out! Thank you for keeping it fresh! 💯
I followed the upgrade guide, and a had fun playing the deck giving counters to my opponents. Then the next time I played the deck, I swapped back in some of the removed cards and ran Perrie. I had an absolute blast playing that way and have tuned the deck more towards running Perrie at this point. I'm glad the upgrade guide took this one in the unexpected direction, I've had fun playing both ways even though running Perrie is the type of deck I enjoy piloting!
Arthur is so enjoyable and chill. Really loved his take on this deck. While it might not be the most powerful build in the world, it's bound to be a good time.
Midnight Clock and Replicating Ring! Love these cards in this deck! Mana rocks that act as Time bombs that sync with Perry while I'm proliferating every/other turn, such Good value!
I've been waiting to see what you guys recommended for Perrie, since some the upgrade videos were posted last week. I'm a little disappointed you guys spent so much time talking about Kros though.
Same, I tend to play a bit more 1v1 with my son and Kros isn't a good commander for that. I basically just tuned out on the video since Kros is just an entirely different strategy. My son is having a lot of fun with Perrie, those counter types add up fast and the proliferate and copy counters effects get kind of crazy!
Dunno if that's me, but I believe there could be more space for more wacky or obscure counter types: Lore Counters, Age Counters, Charge Counters, Credit Counter, +1/+0 Counters, Brick Counters, there's A TON of weird and unique counters. I think it would make Perrie much more unique in what it's doing. Nevertheless, awesome deck!
Lore counters and charge counters are the opposite of obscure. And any P/T modifying counter that is not +1/+1 or -1/-1 is long defunct for good reason.
When it gets down to a 1v1, fog effects are very useful. Spike Weaver was mentioned, but there are other great ones with various uses - Lull has cycling, Blessed Respite doubles as graveyard hate, Respite gains you life, and Obscuring Haze is free if your commander's out. They're all very cheap, apart from the last one. Would recommend picking them all up and switching them in and out to your liking!
Did you know that due to the way Denry Klin is worded, when Denry comes into the battlefield it actually gets a second counter? It doesn't say "another" on its second ability, so Denry sees himself enter. Very funny.
Oh men ... I waited for this episode to see some good upgrades of you guys but you always change the Commander. I wanted to see a perrie, the pulverizer deck.
I got it with the Kamigawa Azorius precon because that was just a strictly better commander, but this is just a different deck altogether :/ Haven't we got enough goad already? Show us some weird counters!
@@andrewharrison5801 ye I feel the same, why on earth are we changing the counters deck into a goad deck when we already have a new goad deck? I was hoping they'd make some more Perrie recommendations.
Perrie looks fun, I could see myself building random counter tribal, but I definitely didn't expect a Kros deck tech. Kros reads as a very large downside, but I liked hearing Arthur's take on the deck and how it should be played. it looks like the perfect time for my boy Gwafa Hazid to shine, so that would be my recommendation.
Yeah, Kros does end up pumping the person you'll eventually have to go 1v1 with quite a bit. I think a good secret weapon can be Glacial Chasm. You drop it in the final part of the game and you can relax a bit.
Super dissapointed that it ended up being a kros list and not perrie list so for what it was i couldn’t do much with the upgrade ideas even if the idea you had with kros are neat.
just bought this deck yesterday at 30$, went to play with my friends that have really expensive decks, they started with their slow ones to not left me behind, but because this deck can become a problem when you have 2x or more sheilds on everything, so thei started with their combo, sliver, affinity, dragons, aragonr, etc, and this game went really good, nice to play hard to keep up the amount of counters you need. the artifact that lets you play things for free is broken, you can have it working the next turn.

Whoa Magnetic Web seems great for Kros. I'm 50/50 on Sludge Monster, since theoretically with Kros it would cause opponent's creatures to be 2/2 creatures with trample that have to swing at your two other opponents. All you seem to get out of it is a little chip damage or a creature, could be good for causing chaos or closing out on 1v1 though.
shield broker is one of the cards i was most excited to get my hands on for my sultai blink/flicker so i can steal everyones stuff. Kros will be getting the cut for me. i think its art is just god awful and i was going to use this deck for a Spara framework around blink/flicker as well utilizing modular creatures to stack the white enchantment ozolith with a simic ascendency to help get a win.
It's worth noting that Sheltering Ancient and Forgotten Ancient's counters don't target. Neither does Kros' second ability. That means that combination can tap and goad even creatures with Hexproof, Shroud, or Protection. Another great combo for the deck is Leech Bonder + Jiang Yanggu. Get a +1/+1 on the Leech Bonder and then you can tap it for blue. Then untap it and pay blue to move a +1/+1 counter onto an enemy creature. And now you've demonstrated a loop so you can move that same +1/+1 to each enemy creature and tap/goad all of them.
While Kros' second ability doesn't target creatures, it can only affect creatures that have been given a counter, so you would have to do it from another source than Kros since his first ability does target. That leech bonder combo is pretty cool, you'd have to get three +1/+1 counters on it since the +1/+1 and -1/1 counters in comes in with cancel each other out as a state based action, but evolutionary escalation can solve that.
Dumb right? Why do they put Perrie in the thumbnail? This is the second time I've come to watch one of their videos and it wasn't even about the commander I wanted to learn about.

Hoofprints of the Stag is not at sorcery speed, technically. You can only activate it during your turn. I think I prefer "during your turn" over sorcery speed because there might be instances where you want to get some payoff. If someone, for some reason, tries to destroy the enchantment, you can make tokens at instant speed. Only during your turn, of course. But it is strictly better, even if it isn't relevant all the time.
Just listening N reading an thought I'd add my two cents. My BFF bought me this deck after I made him a sphinx edc(strong fun deck btw). I am absolutely loving bedecked brokers(probably fav pre con I've ever got so far an I've been playing since the 90's). I have changed 12 or 13 cards and am blown away at how strong an fun it can be. I have not played with Kros so no help there(usually only 2 or 3 of us but definitely want to use with more players), but what I can say is perrie is pretty good especially for going after commander damage. With that said I have found that Falco spara, Deveri, an Rafiq are also great commander options an fit in very well. I have won against decks I should not have with all of them at the helm. I have played this deck alot an with 5 different Commanders so far, an all have their benefits, but I think if I was going to pick one as the strongest I would say it's Chulane teller of tales. Now the card that really makes this deck come alive for me is not a commander (unfortunately why o why magic gods could we not have added partner to west tree as is on the east tree) but Kodama of the west tree this can get stupid mana out stupid fast especially if paired with Chulane. The three card combo that is Chulane Falco and Kodama is nasty. A couple more cards in this deck that is a must for me are vitality hunter, laezel vlaakiths champion, brokers ascendancy, an odric lunarch marshal. As my other adds I used gideons intervention, teferi temporal pilgrim ( I had him and was a way better option than ajani for this deck although if I had elspeth resplendent I probably would op for her)..
I brought this deck last night and played it a bit I was like I cant wait to see what you guys do for the upgrade and give me some ideas. Then I saw you picked Kros and then I started thinking this isnt gonna help Perrie. But great video anyway.
dismiss into dream solves the 1v1 goading problem. when it gets down to the last 2 wipe their board so you would have to solely rely on Nils, Discipline Enforcer.
Branching Evolution. Sure I will give you a +1/+1 counter but I put one on mine too that is gonna trigger branching evolution and I will get another counter on my creature. You get one I get 2
Don't know if I agree with changing the commander to Kros. He should be a commander of an entirely separate deck with a separate decklist. Just switching out 10 cards won't change enough of the deck
Chose Perrie because I like to smash things. Added more sources of different counters and some back up shield triggers. Also added more indirect ramp with stadium and replicating ring. Have yet to test it yet.
You can get rid of shield counters by doing just 1 dmg to the creature. Doesnt have to kill it. Just fyi. Still love the shield counters since you can proliferate them and add more but they are are flimsy shields. I loved this pre con tho.
Nice catch, I still like the flavor of it, since it's a politic-y boardwipe. It's pretty odd that removing the counter does let the creature attack again, but moving it to another creature doesn't force the vow on them. Moving the counter basically only frees up the creature to attack, but keeps the counter in play.
I love the versitility of Dec in stone of mediocre removal and silver bullet board whipe like I have destroyed a persistent petitioners deck with it be4 and the table cheered...
I've been waiting for a commander like Kros ever since I found cards like Generous Patron. I really hope it plays exactly how I want it to. One of the first singles I bought was Scrounging Bandar and while maybe not the best card, it has some interesting plays with that commander.
Funny enough I bought a flooded grove for $3 a few weeks back kinda glad to see it went up lol. Didn't think Flooded Grove was gonna be out into this set lol
Just dont be afriad to recomend expensive cards I have this deck, my adds: Abzan Falconer Ozolith Luminous broodmoth Iron apprentince Brokers ascendacy Gala greeters Scurry oak + Ivy lane denizen Felidar retraet Vivien monsters advocate Elspeth resplandent Garden sales Cónclave mentor Mikaeus the lunarch Lae'zel vlaakhits champion
Your explanation about the Kros and Cauldron of Souls iteraction is wrong, depite having the CORRECT OUTCOME. The reason why Kros don't care about the persist counters on your opponents creatures is because YOU didn't put any of those counters. Cauldron gives the persist ability to the creatures, the controler of the creature controls the persist and therefore is the one putting the -1/-1 counter.
I noticed that if you have both the Wingspan Mentor and the Hoofprint of the stag both cards work well with one another. Since Hoofprint of the Stag is creating flying elephants while you can just steal a non-human creature from an opponent and give it a flying counter with the right card.
Not to mention that Shield broker will help you obtain the non-human creature to make the wingspan Mentor and Hoofprints of the Stag work to your advantage.
I think you guys NEED to look up rock paper scissors lizard wizard Spok! Also if Arthur is interested, check out Nate from the internet, he has good advice.
Flaco is very good, I find him slightly better than perrie. Throw in a kodama of the west tree. Flaco, Kodama west tree an Chulane teller of tales are great together.
They used to list the 10 to add and 10 to take out in the description down below......what do I need to take out and add? Help my lazy butt pleaasseeee
I lost in 5-6 turns twice against Perrie. Out of the box and no upgrades. I was playing a level 5-6 deck, if 10 is CEDH. I can't wait to play my own upgraded level 7-8 Perrie the next FNM.
@@jamesmoore1317 The last time I played against Perrie, I was able to cast Drannith Magistrate in 2. I did not win and so was Perrie but I was able to have fun and went beyond 20 turns. My own optimal Perrie did nothing, because somebody cast a Drannith on turn 1. I've been killing it and so did others, but it keeps coming back. I exile it, the owner exiles it himself and comes back.
Do these videos have a link to all upgrade cards in a list? I may be blind... or a patron section for this? Iove listening to the podcast but sometimes I don't like pausing to write all the cards names down etc...
Update: as a patron we do get a pdf file with the show notes: including the cards to add and remove, which is exactly what I was looking for and exactly the thing I had overlooked before.
Its very annoying that you guys didn't use the face commander because its "boring" and not because its actually the better commander for the deck as is like you usually do.
Ye again I'm very surprised they didnt do what they usually do and recommend cards that combo well with Perrie. Switching the video to upgrading the alternate commander felt misleading. Maybe Perrie is simple to play, but some people may want that.
Everyone who searched for this video did so to build Perrie. He is an awesome card and everyone wants to play him for the sheer meme value. The fact that you focused on making the best deck rather than the best Perrie deck makes everyone so sad that they will lose their jobs and end up homeless. Don't know how you sleep at night.
Hey guys, just learning to play atm and bought the starter set for me an my mate, just wondered what are the best booster packs to get for the starter set when we decide to start supplementing our decks?
Nice deck but you guys missed the point of the deck, add atraxa as the commander and add sagas and ability counters creatures and watch atraxa proliferate them and move them around with defense and ozolith, the deck can be very fun and complicated to play. Removing counters from sagas effectively resets them so you can manipulate them. I am working on a build with them.
Also contagion clasp is a great way to end the game when you are down to 2 players (tap down on each of your opponents turns, soft lock on the board state)

Shield counter is like a psuedo totem armor, pretty cool
or they are replacing indestrucible
@@titanium0002 I wouldn't say they're replacing it, its just a cool new mechanic/ type of counter 👍 plus indestructible is functionally different
Quick note on Sheltering Ancient: you don't have to put the counters on the same creature.
You get one I get 2
and with evolutionary escalation it's six counters to three, now that's escalation.
I believe Promise of Loyalty won’t actually goad them since your opponents are placing the counters and not you. Still a good card to have, though!
Also it doesn't work if you move or copy the counters.
Wow Jimmy Wong in those ads be lookin' like he'd make a great actor :O
I built mine as a zombie token spawner to take advantage of Raffine's ability. Very simple and fun to combine Card Draw with Tokenspawn and Buffing.
Why wouldn't you just use Varina then though?
I think you commented on the wrong deck.
Commenting to show some love to Perrie the not-platypus
Funny enough I bought a flooded grove for $3 a few weeks back kinda glad to see it went up lol. Didn't think Flooded Grove was gonna be out into this set lol
Just dont be afriad to recomend expensive cards
I have this deck, my adds:
Abzan Falconer
Ozolith
Luminous broodmoth
Iron apprentince
Brokers ascendacy
Gala greeters
Scurry oak + Ivy lane denizen
Felidar retraet
Vivien monsters advocate
Elspeth resplandent
Garden sales
Cónclave mentor
Mikaeus the lunarch
Lae'zel vlaakhits champion
Your explanation about the Kros and Cauldron of Souls iteraction is wrong, depite having the CORRECT OUTCOME. The reason why Kros don't care about the persist counters on your opponents creatures is because YOU didn't put any of those counters. Cauldron gives the persist ability to the creatures, the controler of the creature controls the persist and therefore is the one putting the -1/-1 counter.
in the deck there's a third possible commander.
Jenara, Asura of War... maybe not the best option but it's still there.
I noticed that if you have both the Wingspan Mentor and the Hoofprint of the stag both cards work well with one another. Since Hoofprint of the Stag is creating flying elephants while you can just steal a non-human creature from an opponent and give it a flying counter with the right card.
I also noticed that it will not take long for you to get four charge counters on Hoofprints of the Stag.
Not to mention that Shield broker will help you obtain the non-human creature to make the wingspan Mentor and Hoofprints of the Stag work to your advantage.
There are many special lands that helps you play multiple lands in fewer turns.
The cool thing about Kros is he makes a whole new archetype.
I think you guys NEED to look up rock paper scissors lizard wizard Spok! Also if Arthur is interested, check out Nate from the internet, he has good advice.
I loved the way he went with the deck.
Kros + Contagion Engine *Chef's Kiss*
I'm gonna replace Perry with Falco Spara. Not in the deck, but still works perfectly with the precon.
That's what I did, left Perrie in the 99 though.
Flaco is very good, I find him slightly better than perrie. Throw in a kodama of the west tree. Flaco, Kodama west tree an Chulane teller of tales are great together.
Followed the guide and I had so much fun. My friends did not
Interesting. Why was it 10 in and 9 out though? Doesn't gel with the rest of the upgrade videos.
I thought I was the only one who counted that they only took 9 cards out
Sounds like a great home for Luminarch ascension
It sounds extremely fun. For some reason im not liking this set that muchz buy this strategy makes me want to try it ou🤟🏾🤟🏾
They used to list the 10 to add and 10 to take out in the description down below......what do I need to take out and add? Help my lazy butt pleaasseeee
Would have liked to seen how to modify with Perri. Any chance you make another video?
I lost in 5-6 turns twice against Perrie. Out of the box and no upgrades. I was playing a level 5-6 deck, if 10 is CEDH. I can't wait to play my own upgraded level 7-8 Perrie the next FNM.
I've had similar games with it, it runs pretty well right out of the box. You get 3-4 different counter types without even trying.
Ohh and we have blue in the colors.
Sooo lets clone the stuff we do. Like sparkdouble with spark double (not really budget anymore).
Gracias!!!!!! En serio ame este vídeo
This is a pretty sweet flip for the deck....Might have to try it some time.
No hate but this is essentially Mitch’s deck from command quarters still great content
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but Vorel of the hull clade is REALLY broken in this deck
I'm interested in this one. I have to purchase something for the pre-con commander night at the LGS
So creative
Seems like the deck could use a contagion engine. Maybe that draws too much heat on the deck tho so idk.
Ooh, good call!
If anyone can point me toward where to get those curtains/ the fabric I would really appreciate it!!!
Denry triggers on itself so it comes in with 2 counters.
When are we going to find out who’s the guest for the fan attack game knights episode?
Did anyone else catch that they added 10 but took out 9?
Do these videos have a link to all upgrade cards in a list? I may be blind... or a patron section for this? Iove listening to the podcast but sometimes I don't like pausing to write all the cards names down etc...
However I did pause to write that comment, and also this one.
UD think atraxa would not stop moving up
Everyone who searched for this video did so to build Perrie. He is an awesome card and everyone wants to play him for the sheer meme value. The fact that you focused on making the best deck rather than the best Perrie deck makes everyone so sad that they will lose their jobs and end up homeless. Don't know how you sleep at night.
Ya know what they say, 6th is sick! Deck seems like fun though!
I think that you guys should play the elder dragons form the strixhaven set I play Beledros and I find him quite good
wow! what an informative and fun video!!
may 10th is my birth day
Pardon my ignorance, I've only been playing for a month. How does reins of power work when only 1 opponent remains?
Hey guys, just learning to play atm and bought the starter set for me an my mate, just wondered what are the best booster packs to get for the starter set when we decide to start supplementing our decks?
Buy singles!
What these guys said
Arthur should be in more videos!11 ;)
Nice deck but you guys missed the point of the deck, add atraxa as the commander and add sagas and ability counters creatures and watch atraxa proliferate them and move them around with defense and ozolith, the deck can be very fun and complicated to play. Removing counters from sagas effectively resets them so you can manipulate them. I am working on a build with them.
Not picking Perrie?
Uncouth and Unbecoming.
Much like all the group hug players, you sir are a ruffian and a brute.
Definitely need to drop the mic again, staff are hiding behind those mics.
Also contagion clasp is a great way to end the game when you are down to 2 players (tap down on each of your opponents turns, soft lock on the board state)
