I find it notable in that the Feds didn't just ambush them, the Feds ambushed them with a superior force.
Even if/when the Zeon column is manned with new replacement soldiers & officers or former second-line troops, there ought to have been some words of mouths indicating to them what they're dealing with, but yet these people seem surprisingly oblivious to the battlefield trend.
if there's anything this clip shows us is how dependant the Zeon ground forces are to their Zakus that their unit couldn't even recon their surroundings right

It seems the Zeon military doesn’t know what a Choke Point is.

Zeon ground forces are depicted not as an incompetent infantry force but even as the worst softair team ever: no recon, advancing in a close ranks formation, no signs of a coordinate response under enemy attack.
The evil forces of Zeon are arrogant after all. They think the Federation are pushovers only to learn the hard way they are not.
Pretty interesting that the Zeon didn't expect Earth fight to so hard. Shows how arrogant they truly are very similar to Germans & Japanese. Believing that you're superior doesn't make you superior. That's one of the main reasons why the Zeon lost pretty much all their wars.

I mean you say that like humans in Gundam were ever particularly badly animated.

The franchise is, and has always been, a human first mecha second storytelling. So it's kinda important that the humans are well animated. Even if the mecha fights are good the janky facial animations will pull audiences immediately out from the immersion

Is it just me or the soldier at 1:32 is holding his rocket launcher backward?
Looks like a backwards recoilless rifle to me.
It's nice to see Zeon not being glorified for a change.
I get the complaint about the human models but I think it just shows that they worked with a reasonable budget that was allocated appropriately. The mobile suits look amazing and it is clear most of the work and budget went towards them, as it should have. Better human animation would have been nice but it probably isn’t going to be an absolutely massive hit; so for gundam to stick around they do have to use reasonable budgets rather than inflated ones like disney which means compromise in certain aspects.
There are ways to cut budgets, but I would not say making the few important scene for the trailer looking like robots is a smart move. Personally, if you can't make good facial expression, then don't emphasis their face.
@@scp-1145 “There are ways to cut budget” name a plausible way they couldve done it without unethical treatment of animators. This is not a logical nor realistic interpretation of how creating media works. You cant just reallocate budget to make everything perfect, you HAVE to pick and choose certain elements to focus on. They also do not “emphasize their face”, several scenes seem to clearly hide faces behind visors intentionally etc.
if you want anime to be sustainable you have to expect certain imperfections and lower overall budgets. Making quality facial animations is very expensive and time consuming; you are greatly simplifying the situation for the sake of complaining.
This Gundam series is awesome

The settings for DOPP II and DOPP Kai are iffy, so I guess you can set them there.
On the other hand, it is a little disappointing that the movement of the infantry is jerky and I don't feel much progress from IGLOO.

I really appreciate the usage of infantry and armored vehicles. It really gives the feeling of war of war in the most grounded way.
We got a little hit of it in the original show, and honestly I miss it. The combined arms aspect of conflict on a universal scale.

they really should use the original sound effects; the new ones are really out of place, to anyone that's watched the show before. it's like going from Z Gundam to War in the Pocket: suddenly everything sounds like Macross or Star Wars.
The original sound effects are too bit-crushed and don't do justice to the scale of the machines.
This clip is so ambitious and I love it! The action is done extremely well but I can’t help but feel like this was animated by a really skilled fan group instead of a professional group. Also Zeon nearly took over the entire globe like 6 months into the war? Why are they doing so terribly here

I wish they had gone with cel shading or something similar to keep the anime aesthetic. This looks like a cutscene from a game circa 2005.
This thing is almost purely unsalvageable, but if I HAD to do this:
* Set it post-Victory, with a Neo-Titans movement being the main villains/setup in a way to prevent Zanscare or Cosmo Babylon from gaining more ground again.
* The “victims” are a group of re-enactors given inferior mobile suits (refined HiZacks with slight gimping to things like the vision, using experimental technology) as part of a “training exercise” (really just an exercise in sadism and punishing the families of Cosmo Babylon/Zanscare members)
* The “Frankenstein” look is kept for the slasher Gundam, which has become a new model of Psyco Gundam (Psyco Zeta? Psyco Nu?), with the Frankenstein bits being a possible mobile armor attachment that can fight on its own. In a dark twist, the pilot is Uso Ewin, made into a “Coordinator”, a combination of a Natural and a Cyber Newtype to make a new breed of Newtype. If he fails to comply with the killing, his farm will be nuked into oblivion, and Shacti with it.
* Bring back Yazan Gable, now elderly, as the main villain so he can finally be punished.

We don't actually know what kind of accent Zeeks have, but regardless it's never actually been portrayed vocally in any Gundam media regardless of the dub (though especially not in the original Japanese dub) so it's not exactly fair to expect it here.
