I love your rock. I love your pop. But I love this sound. I have to be honest though....I'm not in the market for Christian rock. I'm more traditional when it comes to spiritual music, BUT.....please, please, please, take this sound and put it to mainstream lyrics, and I think you have a winning sound. It's like Muse, but even better! Your voice is perfect for this. If you want to keep doing this as part of your beliefs, great, but PLEASE don't limit it to this. Take this band and enter mainstream. This is a great band. PLEASE. The world needs to hear you!
The industry has done such weird things to the way we categorize music. This is video is simply a behind-the-scenes of James sharing his talent with the church community that he calls home when he isn't on tour. It doesn't mean he's "switching to Christian rock." It really bothers me when any artist is stuck into some narrow industry-driven niche like that. Speaking as one of the pastors at James's church (I'm the guy at the piano in the video), we love James and his family and pray that he gets to share his enormous talent with the whole world--MAINSTREAM. You've gotta realize--a lot of us who love Jesus and make art/music really aren't fond of the stereotypes the industry has created around "Christian music." I don't think there is any such thing as "Christian music." I think music should tell the truth about life in all its messiness, heartbreak and beauty. Anyway...for what it's worth... thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
I love James' music from whatever genre. He is one of the best singers ever because he feels what he is singing and knows what music is best for him to do. Wow - James Durbin is such an awesome singer. Happy to see him getting away from the metal stuff. What a voice! Hope to hear more of him.
