The smartest interview ... It seems to me like it was more of a discussion of the movie than asking the same old boring questions Wich Aubrey hates btw... Everything he says is very interesting and aubrey is so impresed .... They're on the same page..luv it !!..
I thought the opening conversation between Gabe and Allison was existential Aubrey Plaza. They play up the not knowing whether she's being serious or joking in the first Act, but then the second act sees her get to play the distressed damsel. This was cinema. This was a performance. This gave me elements of Plaza that I didn't know I needed. I knew when the movie was ending and I knew how it would end as it ended. Amongst her interviews I've learned she was class president at an all girls school. She's the coolest boss hen I've ever seen. Attractive in an undeniable way. I only watched this movie because she was in it, and even then I was left questioning everyone else who was in it. Everything after she first shows up is a writing exercise. Like taking the premise of a black bear showing up. Then having different chapters titled around how the bear shows up. While revolving the conflict around central themes of perception deception misconception and redirection. All of which could be said to encompass this quote unquote persona that's followed Ms Plaza around. While at the same time it really plays on the fact that even with all of this foreseeable drama and conflicts going on left and right the only thing as an audience we know for sure is coming or is going to happen is a black bear will be there. It's the most important thing that will happen after everything else that was important has happened. It's a total vulcan mind meld if you really know what you're looking for or perhaps can see what you are being shown. There was a moment when a fake black bear showed up rolled by in the 2nd act and amongst all this human chaos the only we are anticipating to see is how this black bear will influence the outcome but it was a swerve! The end of 2nd act makes you wonder if she used it against them or herself. Only it's all just coming from the mind of someone making it up as she goes riffing on the repetitive motifs one might associate her with without her consent or verification. Truly existential. Brilliant work.
Aubrey Plaza is criminally underrated. Hopefully, Black Bear will change that

This is a wonderful interview with Aubrey as she shows a very straight in depth area of her personality. Thank you for sharing.
We showed BLACK BEAR on the Big Screen at a Drive-In in Hollywood a two months ago. It has been the only film in a while that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I think Meryl Streep would like any Aubrey Plaza performance.
