1. Sounds different than the recording for sure
2.Def missing some instruments
3. Now as intense as the recording

I can hear how you work, practising hard
Playing night and day, wo-oh
And it sounds better now, yes you improve
Everytime you play, wo-oh
But it's bad
You're so sad
And you're only smiling
When you play your violin
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
To be so near you and not just hear you
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
I think then maybe you'd see me, baby
You'd be mine
And we'd be together all the time
Wish I was dumb dumb diddle, your darling fiddle
But I think, you don't know that I exist
I'm the quiet kind, wo-oh
From the day when I first listened to you
You've been on my mind, wo-oh
You don't care
It's not fair
And you're only smiling
When you play your violin
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
To be so near you and not just hear you
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
I think then maybe you'd see me, baby
You'd be mine
And we'd be together all the time
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
To be so near you and not just hear you
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
I think then maybe you'd see me, baby
You'd be mine
And we'd be together all the time
Wish I was dumb dumb diddle, your darling find

Agreed 💯 %
I always liked this song. Just a happy little number. Never heard this live version, but I prefer the album version more.
I really, really love their vocals here, esp. Frida stands out. But the instrumentation sounds almost acoustic, whereas they go over the top with synths in the studioversion, so - yes - very different. Worth noticing that it's a live performance from a tv show, not a real concert, where the energy level would be much higher, I think.
yeah that's true. A concert would def have a lot higher energy.
Good points, nicely made.
not seen this live version, powerful vocals i think frida had little more power on this live version, no studio tricks to enhance the instruments but decent enough.
Frida is very powerful in this performance!
You're right that there are fewer instruments, but the vocals are outstanding. Frida in particular really shines here. I prefer this version.
Well jaybreil, that was a fun & peppy song for today. I really love their 2 voices together.👍😍😍 have a great safe day 😍😍
It's a studio performance, no? For some TV show or something. I think that's why the quality is so-so but the voices are great!
It's from an ABBA special produced by Swedish TV in 1976 called 'ABBA Dabba Doo'. Swedish TV had more or less ignored ABBA until then, so the programme was quite a sensation and broadcast all over Scandinavia. I remember watching it with my grandmother and grandfather.
I'd never seen this. So thanks for sharing your find, I think I told you before that I like the stripped down stuff. Kinda campfire ABBA. I think they sound great without all the production on their vocals. Wish that there was more stuff like this available. There's a clip from Swedish TV on 19th November 1982. It has a long interview then they are pressed to perform. They go into "Thank You For The Music" just standing around Benny at the piano. It's amazing how well they sound, even Bjorn. They are all polite and smiling but you can see it's over. Pretty sure that was their last performance before announcing they were "Taking A Break". Just an amazing group right to the end.
This is performed in TV studio as opposed to a live concert in an arena so the sound is a bit shallow. Not bad but definitely lacking instruments. Frida's voice is powerful here. Why did it have to be me was also performed here.
Yeah, i'ts not a concert feeling, but a tv studio feeling you get. But it's rather cute, and the vocals are great!
@@nielsulriksrensen9818 yes, I would agree the live vocals are great!
@@ginalashley1265 Yes. I love the vocals here, and the carousel-type music vibe. The performance is indeed cute, and self-assured. I just love this version.
Agnetha commented in an interview that she really likes Tiger. You should do that song. Studio album first, but the live version from their 1977 tour is also very good.
ABBA often sound good even live performing, but here I would say that I really prefer the studio version.....no two ways about it...they sing good, they perform good, but the sound here could be better...the studio version is better..
Fantastic! Where is the link to this original video? Wow!
Abba is powerfull and, perhaps, unbeatable on studio recordings. In general, there"s some kind of loss when they play alive. But it was an honest live performance. Good
hello Jay, and have a nice day
I think that this video with live perfomance is part of the "Arrival" album promotion
In the same studio there is another live perfomance with the song "Why did it had to be me"
this perfomance of "Dum dum diddle" is nice and funny, but the recording is better
Jay, from the same album "Arrival"
could you react "Tiger"?
with this song ABBA open the iconic Australia Tour in March 1977, with the rain falling down on the stage
That is another good reaction from you. What about doing one on a rather early female singer song-writers debut, Agnetha Fältskog who much later joined in the creation of ABBA. There were very few such people in the late sixties. There are several versions of her debut hit song. It seems many people appreciate her work even though they don't understand Swedish. She was a teen singer with a dance band. The band wanted to make a record and sent a simple recording of some songs and she included this self-penned demo. Agnetha Fältskog - Jag var sa kär (Demo) - RUclips . The producer, Little Gerhard a former Swedish rock star called her up and she travelled to Stockholm with her dad. Little Gerhard organised a good arrangement and it came out like this, Agnetha Fältskog - Jag Var Så Kär (1968) - RUclips
They (ABBA) hated it! :) I don't! :)
Agnetha's vocals were very subdued here.
Maybe it was a unplugged version
Not a fan of the live performance.
Love the recording.
I think this as more of a "filler" song. They were promoting the Arrival album, so there it is. The vocals are great (surprise). It must be me, but Anna and Frida look a bit disinterested or lack enthusiasm here. Compare with Why Did it Have to be Me.
