I can hear how you work, practising hard
    Playing night and day, wo-oh
And it sounds better now, yes you improve
    Everytime you play, wo-oh
    But it's bad
    You're so sad
    And you're only smiling
    When you play your violin
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
To be so near you and not just hear you
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
I think then maybe you'd see me, baby
    You'd be mine
And we'd be together all the time
Wish I was dumb dumb diddle, your darling fiddle
But I think, you don't know that I exist
    I'm the quiet kind, wo-oh
From the day when I first listened to you
You've been on my mind, wo-oh
    You don't care
    It's not fair
    And you're only smiling
    When you play your violin
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
To be so near you and not just hear you
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
I think then maybe you'd see me, baby
    You'd be mine
And we'd be together all the time
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
To be so near you and not just hear you
Dumb dumb diddle, to be your fiddle
I think then maybe you'd see me, baby
    You'd be mine
And we'd be together all the time
Wish I was dumb dumb diddle, your darling find

Agreed. There’s a synth “mocking” the lyrics doing a “call and response” kinda thing when Frida sings, “you don’t care/its not fair/and you’re only smiling/when you play your violin”. I think people might not notice that bit. It really is rather unique.

1st thing to listen to ABBA is knowing they're from Scandinavia (not from USA or UK) and, being so, they bring a lot of folk elementes to their sound. Sick bass, sounding 3rds in the chorus last line. Extremely well recorded (instruments, voice, sound in general). Greets from Brazil

    • @jaybrielakoi7747
      @jaybrielakoi7747  3 года назад +2

ya they do bring in a lot of folk element. US bands don't do that kinda thing.

Thanks for the ABBA. Well I personally think they threw in the fiddle cause it rhymes with diddle. And they knew both girls would sound and look adorable singing it. If you watch a video of it you'll see I'm right.

The initial hook is a synthezied version of something very reminiscent of Swedish folk music on the violin.

Hello, nice to see you again in another ABBA song
This is a happy song from the greatest album “Arrival”
It has a nice rhythm and a different musicalization, I think with influences from Swedish folk and the Beach Boys
It is a good song, but in the framework of the fantastic album “Arrival” it is relegated by the great successes (Dancing Queen, Money money money, Knowing me knowing you) and other brilliant songs (My love My life, One man One woman, That's me) and the very good Tiger and When I kiss the teacher
I wonder… from this album “Arrival”… have you heard “Tiger”?
    I don't think, and it's a good option for a future reaction
    See you in another video
I wish you an excellent weekend
    God bless you, take care
    Kind regards from Argentina

the sexual innuendo is over-the-top here.
think about it: she wants to BE the fiddle
in other words, she wants him to HOLD her the way he holds the violin, PLAY her the way he plays it, make her SING (wink wink) the way he makes his violin sing........
the more you think about it, the dirtier it gets.
abba were the undisputed masters of double entendre.
there were songs i didn't understand 45 years ago that i chuckle at today, because now i understand the naughty little jokes that they were sneaking into their lyrics.

First of all, cred to you Jaybriel and Dereck Reacts, you two youtube reactors are in the frontline in doing reactions on ABBA hidden gems, songs just like this, Dum Dum Diddle...songs that probably very few others if anyone else, would do reactions on as they are mostly engaged doing the more known ones, like Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia,The winner takes it all, which actually becomes abit boring to watch reactions on as they are so many youtube reactors that do them...songs that actually in my view, although great musical sucesses, are not among my ABBA favorites, although they are very high quality music as all ABBAs work are. But to me its much more interesting to see reactions on the hidden gems, music that are equally good or better in my ears, but that few knows about and bother doing reactions on. Only the more curious and ABBA knowledgeable reactors would bother to actually go in deeper in the ABBA treasure trove and dig out these fantastic hidden ABBA gems...

The pervasive instrument in the song is violin or fiddle - and the reason the sound is undefinable is because of the number of fiddles and the way they are tuned.

  • @The_Jupiter2_Mission
    @The_Jupiter2_Mission 3 года назад +1

Her beau pays more attention to his damn violin than her. Hence if she were the violin she'd get more attention. I never knew violins went dum dum diddle, though.
I miss the more acoustic elements that went into Abba songs in the early years.
Once Benny got hold of his synth pianos, they tended to sub those sounds for genuine instruments which you heard on Albums like Arrival.

    • @nickchristoforou7850
      @nickchristoforou7850 3 года назад

Abba's last three albums made less use of acoustic instruments, and I agree, I liked the sound of the 3rd, 4th (Arrival) and 5th album the best.
