So I may have gotten a little too artsy on this one. Let me explain. I filmed all the "B-Roll" stuff in 24FPS for a cinematic look. I then set the sequence setting up for 24FPS. I had read about "interpret footage" in Adobe and how it would make higher frame rate footage look good by scaling it down. I did not consider that it would make the audio sound like the witness protection program, and I never noticed until after I had spent hours editing the 1+40 worth of in car stuff. By then it was too late to go back and fix the in car stuff (I could only fix the later videos I had taken on my phone). So, as a result, the in car footage sounds different (deeper) than it should. It's also scaled down to 24FPS, so you're losing 6 frames every second - something that doesn't exactly make racing footage look great. Here's the unedited "fastest lap" in case you're interested. It's still a bit of a fisheye due to the GoPro MAX, but it doesn't look or sound as bad. I'll take the hit on that one. I should've known better. ruclips.net/video/T5LbatR-HXI/видео.html

When I was a kid, early 60s, my uncle drove a car at the Merced county race track. The main thing I remember was the SMELL of the racetrack! Not oil, or gas specifically, but maybe the hot paint and oil and gas! Now I have no sense of smell at all, but sometimes I can close my eyes and smell that track again. Thanks for the video, Mover!

We tried something last year that worked pretty well and I wanted to see if any of you guys had ever tried the same thing... we staggered our tires and strut settings for right hand turns.
9 of the 11 turns on the course were right handers, so we measured the tires and found 1.75" of available stagger. Since the diff on my car is welded, I figured we could use it. So we put the largest tire on the LR, next largest on the RR, next largest on the LF, and smallest on the RF.
Then, in a series of practice sessions, we tested different strut settings (I've got Tokico 5-way adjustables on all corners). We started with the front and found that a pretty stiff setting (4) was just right and kept the nose stable without diving in the corners. Then we worked the rears from 4, down to 3, then 2 and 1. We found that 2 was the softest setting we could use (softer in the back gives more grip, which we needed because of the welded diff). That tightened the car up and gave us far better grip off the corners under throttle. We then stiffened the RR strut back to 3, to transfer a bit more weight to the outside rear tire in all right hand corners. Man, did the car ever fly through the fast right handers after that!
We had already set our coilovers and ride height and were satisfied with it, so the only thing left to manipulate was tire pressure. We made some changes there but the car didn't notice the difference that much. The struts and the stagger were what did the trick.
We were so busy testing that we just tested right through qualifying without ever trying to make THE hot lap. We still qualified third of twenty and went on to win our class and the overall race with ease. I was super happy... not just with the win, but with the way the car responded and our progress in practice.
I've come to believe that so long as we have the welded diff, the car will always be a bit loose no matter what we do. However, the car now bites far better off the corners and we only get the tiniest push only in very tight corners going in, and it is manageable. We noticed after adding the stagger that the car just plain flies through the high speed corners. The difference was amazing.
Does anyone else do this, and were your results as good as ours?

Good content! As someone who spends way too much time in a sim rig, I feel like you've got plenty of pace still in you next time out. Time to get you a direct drive wheel and get some sim time! I believe NOLA Motorsports park is in Rfactor 2. There's great deals right now on sim equipment. Its much cheaper than me racing IRL these days so iRacing is where its at.

Good freshman outing! Glad I can chime in knowledgeably too.
Don’t sweat the Coops. I race Minis. We weigh in at just over a ton being pushed by 300hp. (more or less). In that mustang you can smoke us on the straights, but we’re driving overgrown go carts, don’t try to stay with us in the twisties, we turn on a dime with out much energy loss.
The concept is to take a bent up track and make it as straight as possible. Use the WHOLE track on entrances and outs. Set your speed going in, apex, then blast out of the turn. Get to know the track, find your marks and hit them.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Thanks for sharing! It’s all about energy management.

Love it.... Really wished they had something like this when I was growing up in Metairie. Closest thing we had was some AutoX tracks setup on the old runways on Alvin Callendar Field, at Belle Chase back in the late '80s when I was with the 159th. Trying to plan a trip w/my car back home to NOLA sometime in the future to try this track out. If you ever want a great track with some elevation changes & blind hills, you should try to have a go at MotorSports Ranch Cresson in Texas - VERY fun track with lots of technical turns & some good open straights. Nice video - keep 'em coming, have fun & be safe!

I made the mistake of trying "interpret footage" for all of my 30FPS stuff (the GoPro MAX in the cockpit) not knowing it would make the audio sound weird until I was already hours into editing. I noticed it at the end when Douglas sounded like he was in witness protection. (I filmed a lot of it in 24FPS for a cinematic look and wanted the rest of the footage to match.. first time trying it).

When you're having the 2.06's you can hear the engine growl in the straights. I guess that thing is RWD so you can't do the same in the corners, you've gotta nurse the envelope without giving the 360 cam a workout. I heard a couple of squeals in the corners later as she was working out so you were getting in that zone alright just keep in mind that too much squeal is lost energy.
I saw someone comment about cornering later, but as you said you're still learning, still pushing, once you get those cornering forces balanced out at max power, you're gonna be fast!
