  • Mistakes were made, lessons were learned, and things were broken during my race weekend with Battle Scarred Motorsports at NOLA Motorsports park - but it was a lot of fun! BSM is a charity organization that provides "Adrenaline Therapy" to veterans and first responders through racing events. It's neat thinking about car racing in flying terms:
    Skidding is a turn with alpha. Drifting is like a high alpha turn while attempting to maintain nose authority with the use of canards.
    FWD is like thrust vectoring, albeit with thrust applied at the nose.
    A high speed turn just at the edge of skidding is like an F16 rating around the circle at it's optimal speeds.
    Other than G force tolerance, I wonder if Lewis Hamilton could be trained to become an excellent fighter pilot. Maybe it'd be hard for him to break the habit of trying to always get in front of his opponent.

    Another great racing video thanks, I especially enjoyed FOD in the cockpit! Being an old CV-67 guy, that made me laugh. Have you ever thought about getting a race prepped Miata, and try SCCA? There's a lot of opportunity for racing in your neck of the woods err, swamp!!!

    A lot of fun: as a European, I didn't understand anything in this video. It's another world ...: what kind of race is this (what rules?), who's who in the cars? Why so many different types of cars on the race track? I've been lost for 20 mn, unable to understand half of what was said (even with subtitles!). And what happens with the penalty at 19:10 ? Is it serious, are they joking? To me it was like trying to understand the base-ball game 😉. I have felt close to the dog 🤣... But beautiful pictures anyway. Take care. Regards

    Hey Mover have you tired MS Flight Simulator, they have great scenarios, like Quito approach and some great bad weather scenarios, i even got my simulator version of the APT license, after multi prop, IFR and Private, really like its evolution as it had constantly been updated since 2003.

    It's been a while since I've gone to a Le Mons race, so I will admit that things may have changed since then. It was intended as a spoof of the racing series that took themselves too seriously, especially the penalty phase. The 'lecture' from the judge and the penalty task were part of the schtick.
    At the last one I went to a driver was brought in for putting two wheels off twice during his stint. They chained the drivers together (with a toy chain), gave them a toy bullhorn & told them to walk through the crowd apologizing for their poor driving. Another team got to finish the event with a traffic cone 'dunce cap' zip-tied to the roof of the car. None of this was supposed to be taken personally.

    I don't think that Marine really gave a rats @ss tbh... Once he realized he didn't endanger anyone else and figured out what was on the up and up I think he was alright. Some officials are honestly there though because they can't do anything else to do with racing. At least ya'll had fun!

      @@AndrewKlinger yep it was. I think there was some additional context with the car. Perhaps they had issues in previous sessions with the car and team. 4 black flags in 2 days is quite a bit. Not having time in the car doesn’t help either. Norm is norm if you don’t know what the car is supposed to do. I don’t know why there wasn’t a blue ZR1 there personally.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  5 месяцев назад

      Blue ZR1 would never make tech in Lemons. There was ONE black flag prior to the chat (mine) which was far from "lack of professionalism." The day prior, they were black flagged for the fuel spilling in the pits - they said the ATL system was unapproved despite it passing tech. They were wrong.

      It used to, god knows why it was changed.

    • @bluerex03
      @bluerex03 5 месяцев назад

      it depends on the event organizers. LeMons rules are
      6.0.1 Progression of Penalties: Black-flag penalties are always at the discretion of the race judges and get increasingly harsh as the number/severity increases.
      1st black flag of day-usually, just a stern chat.
      2nd black flag of day-embarrassing, time-consuming penalty at judges’ discretion.
      3rd black flag of day-same as above, plus a mandatory 1-hour penalty.
      4th black flag of day-same as above, plus a mandatory 3-hour penalty.
      5th black flag of day-whole team ejected for rest of the race.

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  5 месяцев назад

      I don't know what series "it used to" or changed. In every series I've ever participated in (real or virtual), it means to come in for a penalty. In NASCAR, for example, speeding on pit road is a black flag. You come in and serve a penalty and go right back out. It doesn't mean you're disqualified unless something more serious has occurred.
