    I wonder who made that great animation at the start

    Cabotine is a gem and it just goes to show perfume houses were more willing to take risks and put out "big" perfumes💎. I sometimes get tired of all the safe, samey releases we get today. Don't get me wrong, I have a varied collection, but most of my repeat repurchases tend to be oldies. Sophia Grosjman is my favourite perfumer

    Watching a bunch of your videos now and I’m loving how stripped back and personal they are. This is my favorite sort of fragrance content to watch. 💗

    I loooove Spellbound. I don’t have it but it’s on my wish list. I wore Lanvin Oxygene in the 2000s - that’s a really nice one.

    I’ve been exploring perfumes from the 90s lately particularly ones by Sophia Grojsman. I just bought Christian Lacroix in the gorgeous shell bottle. Spellbound is on my list to sample.

    I used to have a bottle of Spellbound before I fell out of love with Estee Lauder perfumes. It was one of my faves for a long time.

    Try Curve Connect in the purple bottle. It's a fruit-chuli & a favorite of mine. Never smelled anything else like it. To me it's peachy, plummy, boozy with a black licorice note. It's my cold weather/sexy go to. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

    I need to try Cabotine one day. I feel like it might be one of those that’s fun to sniff for the sensory experience but difficult to wear. Cheap enough for a blind but I guess though!

    You said that Cabotine gave you a scent memory, perhaps it reminds you of Diors Tendre Poison, which came out 2 years later in 1992? ❤

    With Vanilla Fields, I smell candle vanilla and something grassy. Is there tonka bean in it? I know that can pull grassy or hay-like. Either way, you have a couple of my favs in there. I just bought Cabotine Gres over Christmas break and was shocked at how different the notes are on the bottle vs what you’ll see on Fragrantica. Wildly underrated- both of them!

    I’ve been wondering since we now know talcum powder is carcinogenic if powder notes will disappear from perfumery. Being that we once used talc as an after bath freshener, we obviously associated it with a clean smell. Without that association for future generations will powdery scents go the way of the past, only being associated with a vintage DNA?

    • @MyPerfumeMap
      @MyPerfumeMap  2 месяца назад +1

      Maybe so. I’ve noticed that what I consider “soapy” is bar soap and not body wash and I definitely think it’s a generational thing. Interesting!

    • @MadTracker
      @MadTracker 2 месяца назад +2

      @@MyPerfumeMap spot on! I’ve noticed that generational divide between impressions of soapy, for me GenX I think old school bar soap, but for my kids it’s more of a body wash shampoo-y smell.
      On your commentary about Cabotine I’ll note that for me the best full bodied florals have that touch of dirty in the base. Sadly civet (even though we have simulated now) is rarely utilized any longer. Now it’s patchouli or ambroxan in the base to push the notes out and increase longevity. Things come around though. I imagine one day the once popular fruit-chouli’s and recent love affair with ambroxan will be next generation’s “grandma scents”.

      Talc is not carcinogenic, only some that was taken from a site interlaced with asbestos, which, reprehensibly, was covered up by the manufacturers. Damage done, mineral talc is almost impossible to find in stores now, but cornstarch powder or other vegetal sources takes it place, and is perfectly safe. The scent is the same because it's not the scent of the mineral, but an added fragrance. So given the popularity of cornstarch baby powder, I doubt there will be any downturn in the popularity of powdery scents.

    The lipstick that doesn’t come off easy is probably a lip stain.

    • @MyPerfumeMap
      @MyPerfumeMap  2 месяца назад +1

      What do I use to take it off?

    • @anahnnemus5187
      @anahnnemus5187 2 месяца назад +1

      @@MyPerfumeMapAny oil to take it off. If you bought a stain it'll take most of it off. If it was a liquid lipstick that dries down matte it'll take off more than a lip stain.
