Great explanation of what you are doing! I like it! In my opinion, you narrate just the perfect amount!! I know nothing about saw milling and I’ve learned so much just from watching and listening to your videos! Keep them coming!

Great video. A man with a plan who knows what logs will give him. A lot more thinking when you have a target product. Probably gets a lot easier with experience. Nice.

Thanks for explaining what you're doing. Makes the video much more enjoyable for us non-sawyers. Nice!

They’re coming buddy!! I saw a quick chance to quickly explain a technique. But I whole heartedly agree that a longer video needs to be presented. It’s coming🫡🫡

He's running a sawmill business. No sawmill business equals no RUclips sawmill videos. Life has real priorities with real consequences. It's a balance.

At our mill. We cut 1 3/8 stringers out of the 3 1/2 inch cants. So if it was 12 inches wide. We would just rip it in half. And will still get 4 stringers out of 6 inch cants. The brewer gangsaw will cut up to 11 inches or so

So what are the poplar boards used for in your area years ago? Are you still saw them up here in Vermont for casket, material. 👍

How do you set the side saws so quickly and accurately? So little wastage. Great vids. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of practice buddy. In cab video will be coming later:) I do have laser lights. But I’m anticipating how big the next board is going to be while I’m making the one in front of it. So I have an idea of where I’ll be dropping the edgers!

When you talk about dimensions one get a feeling you imply precision........in wet wood?
How much margin do you leave for shrinkage and jointer/planer?. Or is it you never saw for furniture?

I make the 1x12’s with an extra 1/2 of width. They’ll shrink close to 12 on sticks. And shrink more if they’re put up in a climate controlled environment. A lot of these boards will be used for barns, decking, porches, and exterior siding. We have batton strips if the lumber is being used for exterior siding. With the 6’s and 8’s I got around 3/8 of an inch
