    Isn’t poplar a very light, low grade wood?

    What's that tree worth ? Am going to say the bottom is veneer.

    Thought he might've known what he was doing until he decided to make his back cut with the back of the bar 😅 get on the other side of the stump and dig your dogs in and let the saw work for you, not work you. No sense fighting all that push back through a whole tree.

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill 19 часов назад

      We have lots of reasons for using the top of the bar. I already sawed this tree into boards. The saw was clearly doing the work

    • @joshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
      @joshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 18 часов назад

      @Helmsburgsawmill eh, been cutting trees for a living for 21 years now, cutting with the back of the bar ALWAYS pushes against you instead of pulling itself towards the tree. Therefore, you have to use your muscles to hold it there, vs the bottom of the bar, that will literally walk itself through the tree, only holding the trigger if you wanted to, if your chain is sharp and your rakers are short enough of course. Yes I can tell your chain is sharp, but you're still having to purposely hold it in the tree. All I'm saying is that using the bottom of the bar is far easier. It's really easy to cut crooked or bend your bar when using the top of the bar, because of the constant push you're having to do.

      Safest avenue of escape. Determind before cutting. That is the reason for using the saw s top of the bar. Wanted to leave the scene on that side of the tree. Not happening using your method.

    First cut/s are at the tip to the tree. Work your way back toward the stump from there, gradually removing the weight and tension, remaining out of the drop zone and "reach" if any attacking wood.

    My grandfather owned a sawmill in Finland on one the many lakes in the area. I was born at that sawmill and visited the property in 2015. The sawmill is still there but not running. Ergo, I have an 80 year heritage in the industry. It's fascinating to see what is going on in this very interesting segment of the business world. 😊😊😊😊😊

    When the bottom logs lay in the mud, is that hard on the sawteeth. I like your system and enjoy watching the saw milling / making lumber. Is the lumber you saw resold to retailers or consignment?

    Who doesn't love a nice piece of ash??😂😂😂 Big straight logs. Interesting how you guys do a lot of tree-length sawlogs. Here in New England everything is bucked for grade on the landing. The only stuff going out long is firewood logs, utility pole logs and timber frame logs. Cool video today.

    Looks like one or more of the belts for the saw blade are jumping around a bit. There’s a gap between belts that comes and goes. If I had to guess I’d say it’s probably between the third and fourth belts. Not as noticeable when the blade is cutting the logs.

      You must not have cut many trees, wedges are for making a tree go where it doesn't want to, anyone can cut a tree in the direction it wants to fall, making them fall the opposite direction that they want to is where us pros come in.
