Dual Stacking Massive Amounts of Logs!! A 50 Year Old Loader is Still Relevant!! #115
The head saw seems slightly out of line with the main saw. Beautiful oak.
É muito produtiva e excelente trabalho, parabéns.
Why aren't the top and bottom saw blade aligned ? There is a visible ridge when both saws cut into the log.
what is this about? had to skip over the first 40 seconds and get to the part that is enjoyable, cutting wood.
What do you think goes into it?
I once had a log in me but.
🤣🤣
плохая распиловка , пила не отцентрирована соосно с нижней
Read the other comments. It has nothing to do with where the saws are line up. That’s measured to the 1/1000’s of inches and doesn’t change
Thumbs up
Thank ya!
Hi, the top and bottom saws don't appear to be in line? Enjoy your channel. Andy from New Zealand.
They are. I address this in some videos this last fall. The top of the bottom saw blade fluctuates in and out of cuts! You can see the deviation on that line you see, fluctuating along the cuts, in the video I mentioned. I think it’s the real time 37 incher
Some real nice lumber ,great video, looking forward to the sawing trip ,thanks for the video
Big boys are going to be shaking the ground for 5 days straight
timber shame that big boy had those flaws that would have made some fine timber
There were still a lot of nice boards!! Those rotten spots stink though. That tree would’ve been better harvested 10-15 years earlier
why is the top blede out by about 5mil ?
I answer it thoroughly in a couple more! Check out both answers:)
And it looks like a lot, but it’s only about 3/32”. The lighting makes it look more aggressive
@ thanks bro i was just wondering .love the vids
Is there any wat to make fine adjustments to the top saw to get rid of the offset step?
I’ve addressed this in some videos several months back. Not to the alignment of the saw itself, no. The tippy top of the bottom saw fluctuates in and out of cuts, based on feed rate, sharpness, and species. I’ve had it under good circumstances, and could point out the fluctuation as you could see it.
Body and mind strong Ian....GREAT VIDEOS mate. ❤from Bradley Hunter Valley NSW Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️
Absolutely! Gotta stay sharp all the time😂 Thank you, from Helmsburg Indiana!
Hey there Ian how are you doing? Got a question for ya? Just curious if you saw logs for individuals that bring their own logs in to be milled out? Or do you just saw logs for lumber companies? If you do, how much do you charge? Is it by the log or by the truck load? And great video as always. I enjoy watching these kinda videos because I learn something new on almost every video and as you know Knowledge is POWER!!! Keep up the great work Brotha. Till next time.
I’m doing great! Yes well custom saw logs for individuals…. If they look like good logs and it’s enough to be worth our time. We measure the lumber after and charge by the foot:) And then yes we sell to lumber companies too. We have a thick spread
What's going on with upper blade not being aligned with the lower, main blade? There's a good quarter inch of offset. Do the blades use shims put behind them to get them aligned? What causes the misalignment? What's moving???
Check out a couple other comments. I answer it several ways, and in a previous video:)
Share this with someone you know who is a tree hugger, so they can see over mature trees can start to rot from the inside out
This tree was actually over mature. I’m sure you can tell by that big seam
Do you do the debarking and the sawing yourself?
My dad de-barked this big log, I videod. A new crew member is being trained. That wasn’t a good one. I’ll video me de-barking some on break, just because it’s convenient. My job for years was running the loader and de-barker. Yes, I do the sawing
Nice sawing 👍 that 2nd log was beautiful 😍
It sure was!! I’ve been having fun!!
Do you ever allow visitors at the mill?
All the time!
@@Helmsburgsawmill do you sell lumber at the mill?
The third one was gorgeous! In spots!
You should think about 2 more cameras. 1 showing what you are viewing from the controls and the 2nd on the controls.
I’ll get this up in the future! It’ll be several weeks out
The second one was really nice!
That was the first log of the day this morning!! Some of the footage is shot on different days, but I try to keep the story line making sense😂
She's a beaut Clark! Ian lol
When that 34 incher hit the carriage knees did the building shake a little? I can remember softwood logs of this size here in British Columbia being sawed on headrigs all day long.
One time a 28’ foot long, 28 inch diameter cabin log got pitched onto the roof and knocked 1/4 of the building down, as it was being put onto the log deck😂😂 That shook the building😬😬 No joke, I had it fixed in 20 minutes
I'M FROM INDONESIA ..
Gross
Thank you for watching from Helmsburg, Indiana!
What is the site index where u get these nice logs ?
I appreciate the fact that you are not belittling other channels I wish only the best for you
Thank you! There’s zero need! I’d like to grow the niche. Also when I got brought up negatively on another channel, I got 600 subs over night🤣🤣 Honestly I’d like to collaborate some with these other channels and grow the niche
An overhead camera angled down around 40 degrees would be optimum. 👍
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Yes sir does a beautiful job
Ya buddy💪💪 I hope you check the rest of it out! 700 rpm circular saw, double vertical edgers, top saw!
Got to love the frozen crap. I think not. Stay safe!
I love it😂😂
Wow 😮😮Watching your videos makes my heart happy 👉♥️♥️♥️
I’m happy to hear that sir! All I ask is you share. I want to grow the niche
As a Tree Trimmer i don't like Climbing Sycamore its hard to Spike and the Limbs are very Brittle !
Slicker’n’snot
😀😁🤣 Oh, Ian, Ian, Ian... You are just showing off again. 😋 THREE boards in one pass. Goodness gracious!!!!! Nicely done!!
I appreciate that!!:)
Maybe the word you are looking for to describe your setup is "Custom Sawmill". The big "professional" guys need every log to be 8 feet long and perfectly straight so they can cut thousands of 2x4s every day, all day long. That's all they do. The machines do it. Whereas, with your sawmill, every log is different. Machines would have trouble doing what you do. You can take siding off of logs and then end up with a railroad tie. They just could not do that. That's why I think that Custom applies more than anything else. But, you are also a professional operation. You buy logs, saw them up and sell the results. That a professional operation if I ever saw one. But with the Custom touch!
Very well put
Thank you.
Congrats on 15k Ian. That was a Hugh red oak. Nice video
Congratulations on 15k. I enjoyed the preview on C &C Equipment from Ottawa Canada.
Do you have a camera person, or do you use a tripod? thanks
that is some pretty lumber i wonder how much good quality native lumber is left hate seeing so much used for pallet matterial
Here in my area…. My grandpa claims more now then when he started
Maybe the term "commercial sawmill" would work. You are a full-time business entity engaged in commerce.
That’s it I like commercial:)
Looked like Kevin from c&c on chainsaw
Nice big old oak 👍 Congratulations on the 15k 😊 I guess I've always seen "professional" and "production" terms as relative labels. If you are sawing for profit using industry standards it is professional. If you are sawing for volume not necessarily quality your a production operation 🤷. Just my opinion, I may be wrong. Good video.
If you are making lumber and buying logs and you are successful you are a PROFESSIONAL!!! You can call yourself anything you want but being successful is all that counts.
Thankds for the morning going ons ,no need to apologize, you are a production mill and the first part is pro in production ,this is your living ,thanks for the video keep them coming
Thanks for your comments! I'm watching from east central (snowy & cold with a 28km wind) Alberta. I had to shovel & blow for 45 min. Wind was very cold I could feel it through the layers of clothes I had on! I always enjoye watching you videos, keep them coming!
If someone is offended that’s on them.
OK I have watched all your videos
Hey Ian, Speaking of watching other channels. I have heard Mark from Bus Motor Production speak of you and John at Frick&Jeep speak of you, Or I should say Helmsburg Sawmilling. To be honest that is how I heard about you. Thanks for the video.
