    Love the setup. The trim saws look like they save time and reduce some rehandling. The top saw means not having to whittle big logs down.

    Good looking logs. Your midwest hardwoods are far superior to our remaining southern hardwoods, we have mostly junk, 20" stumps and smaller. In my area, all of the good stuff was cut and gone by the very early 1970's. Do you buy logs by Doyle Scale? Thanks tor the video.

    Nice setup. Are the trim saws set automatically or does the sawyer do so for every pass? Too much live edge on many of the boards for my taste - do they go through a gang saw or trimmer later to clean them up?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill 3 часа назад

      Yes they get cleaned up. The sawyer does it every pass. I’m going for maximum yield

    I have a question for you, my man. Did your grandfather secure all these lands? Where you are cutting these trees or do you own all the uses lands where you’re cutting these trees. Or did your dad secure these trees by that I mean buy them from the landowner. I was just wondering if there seems to be a lot that you’re cutting and sighing in a major sawmill. Take care God bless.✌️🇨🇦

    Clint just brought in another 10 dozers. These machines are all so big compared to the D-2 and D-4 machines I got to run as a kid. And hydrostatic drive! What luxury! I love the sounds and smells of running earthmoving equipment.

    Another great video Ian. The thing is, these videos are deceptive, because you make it look so easy !! You are Sawing and Edging in 3 dimensions. I can't imagine all of the calculations going on in your head, and how far you are thinking in advance. Also, all of the behind the scenes maintenance to keep the mill running. I couldn't come close to what you are doing...

    Really enjoyable video! I'm sure you sell the bark, sawdust and chipped wood, what are the normal end uses of these products?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill 2 дня назад

      People use the sawdust for there horse stalls. Mulch gets used for gardens, walk ways, and to put around the base (not on) flower beds. The chipped white wood is hauled away by a large mulch vendor. They re ground it and sell it however they do🤷

    What is a rough estimate for # of logs and footage? For a day of sawing for you? This video is noticed you edging the lumber heavier than you have in past videos which is good wane can be up to half the length of the board. More footage!

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill 3 часа назад

      A pretty standard number, just depending on the timber, I would say is 100 logs at 100 bdft avg. some days when I’m needing to get more done I’ll just go faster

  • @marcchatterson-xq7qt
    @marcchatterson-xq7qt 3 дня назад

    If it’s getting close to break or lunch with our saw I can move the quire pin in the cab with a button just to get me through the last few minutes. Then file the saw at lunch to try and keep the down time to a minimum. I just gotta remember to put the pin back to where it should be after sharpening
