hey absolutely love your videos on the mc 50! I have one and its fantastic. I was wondering if you could help me with something. in the manual it talks about creating an echo effect by making a copy of a track and then having the copy start after a rest with lower velocity than the original to create the effect. I'm having trouble getting the velocity edit function to do anything. its a step sequence that I'm try to effect

Roger your videos on the MC50 are very helpful! I got an MC50MKII that I updated to have the usb floppy emulator. It’s my favorite piece to compose music on. Every video I have watched of yours has taught me something new each time! Today it was program changes which is super useful. Thank you Roger for posting these videos! 🤙💫

Gunnar Isbert thank you so much for taking time to share this with me. That gives energy to keep on grabbing vids.
My MC-50 is also a MKII because it has the same ROM installed. It can reads SMF-files like yours.
I will soon upload some new content.
      Take care and stay healthy!

Thanks Roger. An informative video again. I remember having to put program changes in Voyetra Sequencer Plus in the 90’s and was not sure how it was done on the MC range. Awesome stuff. Keep on midi-ing.😎 Love your work man.

Is it possible to load a video which explains how to play 2 or more ‘songs’ in consecutive order?? I never quite figured that one out, so for me there is always some awkward silent gap between playing songs haha

Its great, but you didn't tell people how to execute the PG if the patch is hidden w/in a specific bank (or sub-bank etc). In order to do this, first you have to do the following steps:
    1. Go to Microscope, then Edit (select Create Event), then select CC
    2. Enter the appropriate track and midi channel info and press enter
    3. The first value should be set to 0 (for MSB), the second value next to that set as the number which corresponds to the appropriate bank (check your synth's manual). Press enter.
    4. Go back to Edit (select Create Event), then select CC (same as before), but this time the CC initial value should be 32 (for LSB). The second value to the right of that should already be defaulted to the corrct bank as was selected in prev. step (so no need to change that).
    5. Now you do the PG -> Go back to Edit, then edit (Create Event), then select PG
6.Enter the same track and midi channel info etc. and press enter.
7.Enter the program/patch number (remember.. patches start at 0 on synths, so the value for the PG will be 1 greater than that!). Press enter. Now test it out to see if the patch changes to the desired one as it should!

aRp.L0rD.1985 Hi! Thank you so much for adding this info. Yes, you’re right. With those CCs you can program Bank Select and Program Select.
You also can use a first bar to enter it on your MIDI keyboard. For example: create an empty rhythm track of 4 measures to have enough time to push the banks and programs of the wished sounds of all used tracks on an unused track. That track can be your MIDI CC-track. (Track 8 for example). It sounds complicated but in the end if gives freedom if you understand how it works.
      Thanks again for adding this!!

No problem. Just 1 Amendment to step no. 7 -> I realize some patches actually do start at 1 and not 0. In this case you will obviously will enter the number accordingly (i.e. not all start at 0.. depends on your synth). Enjoy!

Hey man, I'm trying to do this on the Mc50 with my JV1010. I'm just having a hard time finding the right numbers. In the manual for the bank I want the numbers it gives me are MSB-81, LSB-2, then program numbers 0-127. So in your third step what would be the correct second number to put in? Not going to lie I'm completely lost with this but it would make my life so much easier if I can figure it out. Thanks!

      Hi,
      Thanks for the suggestion.
There's only one problem...I don't have a floppy drive to write update floppies.
For updates I always use the SMF-players from Roland (done with computer)
For saving data the MC-50 is a nice unit although I recently bought an Alesis DataDisk which is more suitable for the job because the info is directly written onto the floppy instead of the internal RAM.
      I hope you understand.
      Grtzzz,
      Roger

      @theMIDImaniac  4 года назад +1

@@pflo-98 Yes! There is another way.
      MC-505
Download the necessary upgrade file (Choose PC or Mac)
      www.roland.com/es-es/support/by_product/mc-505/updates_drivers/
      D2
Download the necessary upgrade file (Choose PC or Mac)
      www.roland.com/es-es/products/d2/downloads/
Download the necessary SMF-program for Windows or for Mac. (this program works for all updates)
      themidimaniac.com/roland-sp808-sp808ex-groovesampler/
You will need a Sound card with MIDI-connections. Follow the instruction in the readme-files enclosed with the SMF-files.
Don't use a USB to MIDI cable. These ones will not work.
Here an example about how I upgraded my SP-808 to SP-808ex. It's the same procedure.
      ruclips.net/video/SSt42RzDPA8/видео.html
      Good luck!
