Finger Limes are weird looking long limes, with pulp that looks like bubbles or caviar! Google search some images, kinda freaky looking.. The red ones are the best 😋
As much as I love most snacks I've had to give them a miss these past 7 years as have been on a no added Sodium diet, many ingredients lists don't differentiate between naturally occurring Sodium and added salt. Had many a Chef appear from a kitchen in full Gordon Ramsey mode when food sent back for being too salty after informing the waiter that it must be salt free, other than naturally in it. One would be surprised at the amount in meat and many vegetables naturally.
Those store bought Anzac biscuits aren't too bad - but they're really no match for the traditional home made ones we make each Anzac Day. My mother is nearly 81 and she still bakes a batch every year. They're soft and chewy and we eat them while they're still warm! great reaction as always thanks xx
Especially since the cook can pick to either undercook (leaving them chewy) or overcook, leaving them crunchy. I usually do at least one tray both ways to let the audience decide.@@wendyryder2708
@@stephenanthony6508 sure they were. That’s why this recipe was invented- they don’t go stale - golden syrup is an invert sugar, meaning it doesn’t absorb moisture from air exposure like sugar does. It also is known to stop mold formation. The biscuits that reached the troops were chewy! Although some were made crunchy and they would have arrived crunchy! It’s all a matter of personal taste and how long you bake them for!
FYI - ANZAC Biscuits cannot legally be called a "cookie". Not kidding, it is actually written into federal law in Australia! It's a little bit like the whole Champagne can only come from the Champagne region of France.
Yes & technically they violated the law & are subject to arrest by their Federal Government pending charges via Australia if our Government so wished to extradite to Australia & have them serve a prison sentence here. It's all fun & games until 1 of our nation's icons is disrespected.

I love how you both love cheese twisties, but Debbie hates the Vegemite cheese shapes. The secret ingredient in Cheese twisties is yeast extract (i.e. vegemite). Mind over matter I guess.
For an Aussie expat who hasn't been back to Australia in nearly 15 years, I really want Burger Rings... luckily a company here has imported them recently, and they will cost me an absolute fortune but I'm definitely buying them. Massive nostalgia hit.
The smell of Vegemite is my happy place! 😊 Vegemite is made in Port Melbourne and has been for 100 years- lived here my whole life. Getting off the bridge and approaching Melbourne, you can smell the factory. Makes Australians drool 🤤 ❤
Oh man, when you pulled that ginger nut bikkie out of the bag, I swear I could smell it from here. They're such a big part of my childhood, and the smell is unmistakeable.
Fun fact! Arnott releases different versions of the Gingernut biscuits in different states of Australia. Apparently each state has a particular taste they like for their ginger biscuit so Arnott's have 4 different recipes they use, all the biscuits are sold as ginger nuts but they all taste and look slightly different.
@@clabood Have you tried all the recipes? I have only tasted the WA ones and I love them, they re really hard and a good strong ginger flavour. They dunk in coffee and tea really well. Ginger Snaps are really good too, but are more brittle and crunchy.
There's a bakery in the US owned by an Australian called 'aussie pies and sausages' who will post you frozen freshly made aussie-style meat pies, sausage rolls, and lamingtons. I highly recommend you try it. Also, vegemite and cheese sandwiches are sort of Australia's PB&J, in terms of popularity; popular enough that you can buy cheese slices with vegemite in them. Hence the shapes with that flavour.
Another great video ladies. Good on you for being willing to try all these alien foods 😂 You asked what is a Finger Lime. It is a native Australian bush food which grows in the subtropical regions of Queensland and New South Wales. The early settlers used it as a substitute for citrus due to its tangy flavour; its botanical name is Citrus australasica. The bush it grows on and the fruit itself bears no resemblance to traditional limes. It has become increasingly popular in Australia since about the 1990s and is promoted as a "gourmet bush food". Several Finger Lime hybrids have been developed over the years and the pulp now comes in shades of green, pink, lime green and red.
Here's a weird fun fact for you. The sale of ANZAC biscuits is regulated by the Returned Services League (RSL) and cannot be called anything other than a biscuit on the packaging, and may not have the recipe altered as part of the recipe copyright. Homemade versions are often altered, but those that are for sale cannot be changed.
Yes it’s so interesting right?! I believe it’s actually the DVA though not the RSL, as the DVA is a government department and they administer the policies under the 1921 Commonwealth Act for “The Protection of the word ANZAC”. The use of the word ANZAC itself is also protected and to sell any biscuit or any other product using the word you need permission from the Department of Veterans Affairs Minister.
The only Aussie snack I've tried which I think are also maybe available in South Africa is a Nestle peppermint crisp. These are mint cracknel crispy mint covered in milk chocolate. I loved those.
@@R0d_1984 I like the texture a lot because in Nestle Quality Street chocolates I used to love the peanut cracknel. Also had American peanut butter candy bars with crispy bits through it. Way back in the 70s in the UK there used to be a bar like the peppermint crisp. It was made by Cadburys and called an Icebreaker. That's what the peppermint crisp most reminds me of.
Great video, it was fun watching you trying everything, particularly the ones you were a bit nervous to try and ended up enjoying. An interesting FYI for you, the name Anzac is protected by both Australian and International law, you have to seek approval from the Department of Veteran Affairs to use it. The law also covers the Anzac biscuit recipe it says “The use of the word 'Anzac' in the commercial production and sale of Anzac biscuits is usually approved, however the biscuits must not substantially deviate from the generally accepted recipe and shape, and must be referred to as 'Anzac Biscuits' or 'Anzac Slice' (not 'Anzac Cookies').”

Favourite Aussie snacks: Cheezels (original cheese flavour), Byron Bay White Choc Macadamia Cookie Bites, Allen's Sherbies, Cadbury Picnic bar. (obviously Tim Tams, too) Go to first meal, after being ill for a while, is Vegemite on toast.
I really appreciate you both cleansing your palates before trying each new snack - it does my head in when people eat things straight after each other, so thank you ❤

Cheers!
You need to try Kit Kat Milo. It’s so yum. I love Vegemite. But being an Aussie if you grow up with it from a baby your taste buds are used to it. It’s great with cheese in a toastie.
SORRY! I’m an Aussie, however someone gave us a jar of Promite to try when I was a kid and I was STUCK on it! Yes I suppose I’m a traitor! Can’t help it! Lol!
Old Aussie here and I really prefer Aussie Brand 333's MightyMite way above Vegemite or Promite. Mighty Mite and luscious mashed avocado on toast is my go to snack. Been eating it for 77yrs . Had it for many a beloved school lunch.😂😂😂😂😂😂 . As a child my Mum kept all 3 mites in our pantry as it catered to all the family tastes
@wendyryder2708 my parents emigrated here from the UK in the 80s and missed Marmite so much. You couldn't get it easily here then. They both landed on promite so our household were always team promite. Even as adults we still don't like vegemite and buy promite
Scorched Peanut Bar has just made a comeback after decades of not been around much, if at ll, at least where I've been. I don't have a favourite as I don't eat snacks but I used to so I liked watching you eat all the these things.
Yeah!, they were another thing bought by a foreign company who then dropped them but have been bought back by an Aussie company who started making them again (thank Bob!) Supposedly Polly Waffles are coming back soon too.
The only thing I didn't like about the video is that now I've got to take the dog for a walk and we will have to walk further to the service station so I can get Burger Rings.
If you happen upon New Zealand Whittaker's Chocolate those are a must. I've seen a few reactors say it's one of the best chocolates in the world. Made in NZ in various flavours inclucing Dairy Milk, White (yummmm!) L&P, JellyTip, caramel, various nuts and fruits types. Personal preference white then dairy milk then l&p or jellytip. But I'm not a nut or fruit fan, except the Macadamia in white they used to do that was discontinued (for nut prices).
Nice selection ladies...if you want more cheese, try CHEEZELS ...I'll have twisties, but cheezels have more cheese 🧀 😊 Pick8ng an Aussie fav snack is too difficult, as we have a lot of tasty snacks here. Kit Kat white; the new Milo Milky Bar; Kit Kat Chunky..I could go on & on 😋
G'day girls! I love scotch finger biscuits and Gingernuts. I usually use gingernuts for the biscuit crust of my cheesecakes. Yummo! Have been vert busy lately and will try and catch up on all the videos soon. I had a good laugh at this one. I am glad you liked most things, but Debbie you will have to cook some Anzac bikkies...much better than any commercial ones. Have a great recipe if you want one.
Someone has probably already mentioned this, but it is illegal to market an Anzac Biscuit as a cookie, as Subway Australia discovered when they tried to not only sell Anzac Cookies, but they also didn't follow the correct recipe, which means it can't even be legally called an Anzac. Some of the major supermarket brands are treading a fine line in their bakery departments by adding egg to the mixture, and I'm surprised they haven't been told to stop it yet.
You should try some jasmine tea or peppermint tea if you’re not really tea fans. They’re my favourites. And perfect with Ginger Nuts 😊 Actually Jasmine Tea goes really well with anything sweet-it really enhances the flavour
Really enjoyed this!!! I’m British with family in Adelaide (loved the T-shirt Debbie) I have seen and tried some of these and enjoy them. But I have to say that I get asked to send/take over a big jar of Marmite, as my oldest niece loves it, they do have Vegemite, but marmite is always asked for!!! My youngest niece doesn’t like either, just can’t tempt her on either🤣
Great to see you enjoying most of those snacks. I was confused that you took the wrapper off the noodle cup. It’s there to stop the cup being too hot to hold 😊
Tis Ange Love watching these type of episodes. Burger rings are awesome n the twisties are a staple.the chocolate wallabys are very yummy too. N the ginger nuts are an absolute favourite n they have a permanent place in the pantry
you can have your anzac biscuits either soft or crunchy. if you want them soft put a piece of bread in the tin with the biscuits overnight and they go very soft.
My nan used to twice bake hers, wrapped in greaseproof paper they would stay crunchy for over a year in the glovebox of my work ute, had to dip and soak them in your tea to eat them.
The BHUJA snack is normally not consumed alone but as a nibble item while having some social drinks, almost like a bowel of peanuts while chatting and drinking. In fact the practice range normally is a mix of nuts dried peas and various spiced backed crisps sticks etc.
I’m sorry! I know your comment wasn’t supposed to be funny, however when I read the typo on bowel(bowl) I REALLY couldn’t stop laughing! I know that sometimes auto correct can be the culprit or just a slip of the finger! Again sorry! Couldn’t help it!
@@wendyryder2708 nicely spotted, was most certainly Autocorrected. That does make it sort of funny. That specific pack is probably the least choice, the majority of their choices involve more mix of nuts and such baked items. For me it is sad they no longer have the TRAIL PACK which among baked items, nuts also had sultanas. I typically keep a couple of packs, to snack while sipping cool drink and watching a movie. I never have these are singular snack, always a combination of snacks and drinks.
The Cheesecake Shop is a fairly famous Australian franchise that specialises in, you'd never guess, cheesecakes. It's fashionable for brands to do 'combined' products with other famous brands or people. So recently, twisties did one with 'Donut King', producing cinnamon donut flavoured Twisties. Enough said.
Twisties and Caramilk are both my favs. I lived in the uk for 15 years and my Mum used packs of Twisties and Red Rock Deli chips as padding in birthday and Christmas gifts she sent over! Red Rock Deli chips are beautiful - their chicken honey and soy flavoured ones are the best! Any Maggi noodle is also the best. You can get the noodles and sachets without the cup and they’re just as good.
ANZAC biscuits were originally designed to send to our troops in the trenches in WWI. they've become a 'staple' for showing the kids how to cook and they have fun making them

I love Bhuja snacks but I'm with you guys on this one, there's sooooo much better varieties than just the soy crisps, I love the mixed packs with noodles, soy crisps, nuts and peas they are delicious!
Favourite Aussie snacks: Cheezels (original cheese flavour), Byron Bay White Choc Macadamia Cookie Bites, Allen's Sherbies, Cadbury Picnic bar.
(obviously Tim Tams, too)
Go to first meal, after being ill for a while, is Vegemite on toast.
I really appreciate you both cleansing your palates before trying each new snack - it does my head in when people eat things straight after each other, so thank you ❤
Try 1. Cheezels 2. Caramelo Koalab 3. Cadbury milk chocolate block. Apart from that scorch🎉ed peanut bar is the best
Vegemite shapes are my favourite shapes, I can eat a whole box.
And yes they are shaped like Australia and Tasmania is in the box as well
G'day Guys! So glad to hear that you still love our Tim Tam Slam practice! I don't kn ow if you have Nescafe Mocha in the US which would satisfy Debbie's liking go choc with coffee. If you do have that product available then check out if you can get the new Caramel Choc Mocha inspired by Tim Tam as well as the Dark Choc Mocha inspired by Tim Tam...The are both pretty good and I would drink them more often but for diabetes...BTW Natasha growing up we always had hamburgers with the lot and that meant Beef, egg, cheese, beetroot, onion, pineapple &tomato...SO GOOD! Cheers!
Thanks guys. I love Aussie food
Twisties and burger rings are awesome, but cheese and bacon balls are the bomb
I had not seen or heard of any of these Australian snacks , but now l might go look for a few of those chocolates they sound delicious 😋🇦🇺
go for it Mandy im sure u'll like them
When you held up the Gloucester mug I couldn’t believe it 😁 greetings from Gloucester
I've got to eat more, they might go again, like fantails!
Yeah!, they were another thing bought by a foreign company who then dropped them but have been bought back by an Aussie company who started making them again (thank Bob!) Supposedly Polly Waffles are coming back soon too.
So, you've discovered one of the secrets of Australia. Burger rings are almost, but not quite, completely unlike a burger. But they do taste nice.
Yet a great episode of your show. Very entertaining and fun to learn about australian snacks.
You've gotta try the following:
Milo, Chocolate Crackles, Allans lollies (Pineapples, Spearmint Leaves, the Party Mix varieties, Red Rippers), Pollywaffles, Sao's, Jatz crackers, Mint Slice biscuits, Lamingtons, tomato
Ginger nuts taste different depending on which Australian state you buy them in, Arnotts produce I think 4 or 5 different recipes.
The only thing I didn't like about the video is that now I've got to take the dog for a walk and we will have to walk further to the service station so I can get Burger Rings.
But your dog will be happy!
I couldn't get over how big the bag of popcorn got. The caramilk wallabies reminded me of something we used to have in the UK.
If you get a chance, definitely try chicken flavoured Twisties!
Some people don't like them, Shrug, strange people ;D
Yes!!
Chicken twisties twisties should be the official snack of Australia.
LOVE twisties. So addictive
I don't remember if you tried Chicken salt before but you should if you haven't
Nice selection ladies...if you want more cheese, try CHEEZELS ...I'll have twisties, but cheezels have more cheese 🧀 😊 Pick8ng an Aussie fav snack is too difficult, as we have a lot of tasty snacks here. Kit Kat white; the new Milo Milky Bar; Kit Kat Chunky..I could go on & on 😋
Burger rings are def my fave out of what you've got there. They taste better the more you eat! Chicken twisties are also pretty good
G'day girls!
SO do I just need a hammer to break it down...😂
nooo....melt in the mouth@@janetuckwell636
The confusion on Natasha's face for burger rings is classic. But happy you have adopted beetroot on burgers
They need to be.
I'm from the UK and love Timtams
They're the BEST!!!
Loved this reaction video! I think I’d like the twisties and the scorched bar 😋
You should try some jasmine tea or peppermint tea if you’re not really tea fans. They’re my favourites. And perfect with Ginger Nuts 😊 Actually Jasmine Tea goes really well with anything sweet-it really enhances the flavour
Lemon and ginger tea goes well with ginger nuts too.
lol,...great reaction girls and thanks for being honest 👍
Hi from Sydney Australia! Glad u liked our snacks. I love those noodles aswell. Definitely a fave in our house. Loved your vid❤
I can't wait to watch. We have such awesome snacks
We have Marmite in Australia as well as Vegemite
You should try the youngest niece on Promite, it’s NOT as strong as Vegemite! Promite isn’t a Yeast extract, it’s a vegetable extract!
Great to see you enjoying most of those snacks. I was confused that you took the wrapper off the noodle cup. It’s there to stop the cup being too hot to hold 😊
The instructions said to remove the wrapper 😉
Wow. Just goes to show I never read instructions 😂🤦🏻♀️
Loved this episode. Hello from Down Under.
Tis Ange
Love watching these type of episodes.
My favourite snack of all of them is the Vegemite shapes! My kids love the noodles those are their favourite noodles to eat 😊
Hi ladies.
My favourite snack you tried would be the Vegemite and cheese shapes.
Always love the video reactions something for me to get my teeth into after work.
Good one!! 👍🏻 😉
So for the finger lime and pepper leaf it gets a thumbs up from both of you. :) @@TheNatashaDebbieShow
FYI. Ginger Nuts are actually made differently, based on the state. Some states want them harder, other softer.
Glade you liked some tastes of Australia. My fav's are the Scorched Peanut bar, then Cheese Twisties.
They have chicken twisties as well
There is so much more to try
The scorched peanut bar. YUMM!
Scorched refers to the nuts, we have scorched almonds as well, usually chocolate coated.
You ladies are fantastic & funny!🤙
I always enjoy your international snacks videos. I would love to try the ANZAC biscuits.
Cheese twisties, scorched peanut bars and burgers rings are the best junk foods ever.
The Vegemite shapes ROCK
I am at home in Australia eating Twisties as I watch this video 😅
Loved your ideo, enjoying sna ks and giving positive feedback.
Love your top Debbie I’m from Adelaide South Australia :-) loving this channel. Well done Ladies
Ginger Nuts have different recipes in several states, so the Queensland ones are different to the Victorian ones etc
Awww, i want to try them ALL... ;D
Just finished some Vegemite shapes before I saw this video pop up! 😮
Awesome video
ANZAC biscuits were originally designed to send to our troops in the trenches in WWI. they've become a 'staple' for showing the kids how to cook and they have fun making them
With the noodles, I put the oil packet ontop of the lid while the noodles are softening so it melts the oil and comes out liquid
Thanks so much, I really enjoyed watching this reaction. The burger ring flavour is very difficult to describe, but they are pretty tasty. I really like the caramilk chocolate. It’s so creamy ❤️🍫😋
Yeah, as kids we used to put the rings on our fingers, the same went with the Cheezels.
