Wait, what is happening with Toei studio. They hired someone who is not passionate about food to write about food? I wonder if that head writer was told to write the scripts on food theme, nothing else after being hired or something rather than finding someone who can properly write a decent Precure story with food theme. Toei staff being cheap again… Now it reminds me of how they hired a pop idol who is not experienced in voice acting to voice Cure Star…

The worst thing they did was not explain Amane's backstory at all. How are viewers supposed to empathize with her if you don't tell us how she joined the villains to begin with?

I had an idea that came across me during the movie of DeliParty that not only does Yui have a dead grandma, but also a dead sister. She and Amane were actually really good friends back in the day, Amane filled her role as a big sister figure for Yui when she was grieving her sister and grandmother’s passing. But also, Amane and her family used to be quite prosperous with their business but had financial problems and were threatened by a greedy businessman or bank for money and all.
With the pressures of her family’s business going bankrupt and ceasing to exist, Godatz presented the young girl with an opportunity. In order to help her family survive and continue their sweets shop, Amane has to work for the Bundoru Gang and seize Recipixies. So imagine the shock Yui has when she finds out that her best friend had been working for the villain, but also the very same person she’s been fighting as a PreCure. So when Amane is purified and rescued, imagine the tension between Yui and Amane when they try to reconcile. Yui would’ve said to Amane that she could’ve asked for her family’s help to help Amane’s family business with money, but Amane argues that this business is hers and her family’s alone. She didn’t want to involve anyone else, and especially Yui considering her grief over her sister and grandmother.
This was too long but this is but one idea I have for my rewrite.
Edit: This way, Yui is far more involved with the plot as she is connected to one of the antagonists by friendship.

I think one thing I dislike about this season is that it didn't have a second theme.
Every other precure seasons have at least an extra 2 or 3 themes to fit the show. but the main issue was that this season just didn't do that
Smile precure was a show that only had 1 theme which was fairytales but it still managed to expand the characters by not using the theme sometimes.
With delicious party, every time the character had a conflict, it either about food or family problems which leads to, guess what? Food. If you keep repeating the same message over and over again it slowly becomes boring and hard to watch.
Heck kira precure had a more interesting storyline despite being a food series and not my favorite season.
Don't even get me started on Yui. Yui is a good example of why people want chilled cures. When Yui was first introduced I was like "oh a cure that plays sports again this could be interesting". Then after mid season cure came, Yui just started becoming boring
Despite her grandma not being alive, Yui still manages to be in her shadow and it's just sad. I'm glad takumi and her didn't end up together. He deserves better.
Hirogaru is a breath of fresh air. It's so relaxing to not hear about a character talk about food every Goodman minute.

Honestly, that fourth wall breaking moment the narrator pulled and the time travel episode made me start bawling in anger because i lost my grandmother almost two years ago. I was her eldest grandchild and not being able to talk to her eats me up inside.
She passed away at 72 (though you wouldn't think that because her last photo she took made her look like she was in her 50s, #youthgene) and what makes it worse is that we never got a chance to say goodbye because...well its a long story involving my grandpa getting kicked out of the American legion which was literally across the street from them, him taking all their money without warning and moving to Arkansas without telling anybody including Grandma. As well as a bunch of nonsense in between these events that chased away their kids and grandkids because of Grandpa's very toxic personality and attitude when people tell him he is wrong.
Grandma ended up moving to arkansas after grandpa got settled so he didnt have to think of the AL just before Covid hit. And we only got to see grandma one other time when she came to see my mom and stepdad renew their wedding vows.
Then in late may/early june of 2021 Grandma had to go in for appendix or pancreatic surgery. I honestly forget which but she came out alright and even joked with grandpa after he bought her a walker. She told him "no you bought YOURSELF a walker. I'M NOT OLD!" the doctors from Arkansas, who keep in mind, only knew my grandma for a little over a year and a half, told her that they found some stones in her bile duct while operating and asked to see her again the next week to take care of them. So they say sure, go home, and the next week i call them making sure grandma is doing ok and she says she's doing great and was getting ready for the second operation. I tell her i had to work that day but i would call her later to see how it went...thats the last time i spoke to her...and no she didnt die on the operating table. She got through the surgery just like the first time but later that night she was developing jaundice and grandpa rushed her to the hospital. They took her to the catscan to see what was going on and she had a heart attack in the machine...i never called her after she woke up from the surgery because i was so tired from work. And she didnt have any of her kids or grandkids around to say goodbye...a lot of us blame grandpa for the stunt he pulled just to get away from the american legion because she couldve still had her normal doctors if she was still up in new york where her children and grandchildren are.
I would give anything to have called her when i came home that night and not break my promise all because i was tired from working at an abusive local pizzaria and having several surgeries over the years on my feet that made moving fast at that restaurant difficult. There isn't an excuse to not call up my own grandma...but i will never get that chance.

I just lost my grandpa a few weeks ago. I'm still deep in grief and reading your story really touched me. I'm saying this for you as much as for me: our grandparents loved us and wouldn't want us to beat ourselves over them. It's normal to be frustrated because you couldn't call your grandma, and I am too angry at myself for always postponing calling my grandpa until it was too late... But it doesn't erase all the good, precious moments we had together. My therapist told me that in these moments we tend to think in terms of quantity ("oh I should've talked to them more") when we should think in terms of the quality of the bond we had. You made sure to check up regularly on your grandma. You're a great grandchild and I'm sure your grandma loved you very much. We are allowed to be sad.
      Wishing you the best...

To me, the Precure fight against nihilism. They scream at a universe that sees people as imperceptible specks around for the tick of a clock "We matter!" This is why the villains have often represented despair and desolation and claim they are inevitable. The villains are not just people and monsters to fight, they're an antithesis to the ideals and story of the Precure team.
While Godatz holding the world hostage makes for an interesting threat, it's not an antithesis. He doesn't challenge the ideals of the Precure. He doesn't mock their right to exist with his very presence. He's just a bad person that needs to be stopped. And he's not even stopped by the Precure, but a freaking DEAD GUY!
However, that's because the Precure have no thesis. What do the Delicious Party team represent? You can say food, but I mean an aspect of the human condition. HeartCatch represents our growth. Smile represents our reaching for a happy ending. DokiDoki represents our balance of caring for our selves as well as others. Go Princess represents our dreams. Hugtto represents our hope for the future. Healin Good represents our resilience. The answer is the Delicious Party team represents nothing, so their fight come down to nothing more than punching a bad guy in the face.
This is why I have more hope for Hirogaru Sky, because they represent an aspect of the human condition: our wish to do good. Granted, the villains have so far been nothing but the pig running across them and trying to beat them up, but the series is young and we know he's just the tip of an iceberg (and he's infinitely more interesting than all the Bundles combined) .

Now that you mention it, the Delicious Party Cures don’t represent the importance of food. They just talk about appreciating it. That’s not bad at all, especially since not everyone is fortunate to have a plate to feast on but they never go the extra mile in why it’s important to appreciate it. Not about cultivating it, the process or cooking, or even the culture behind the dishes. Just how delicious the food is. That’s probably why the lessons doesn’t have the punch Healing Good or Hugtto does.

  • @nintendolife25
    @nintendolife25 Год назад +86

Before I start, can I just say that the Delicious Party Cures has the worst lore behind the purpose of their existence? Say what you will about past series you like or don’t but at least their lore is in line with the scope of how much of a big deal being a Pretty Cure is. We have Cures spoken, written, or fated in legend to bring back peace (OG, Splash Star, Yes, Fresh, and Suite), Cures that gains their powers or is chosen from deity-like figures to stop an eldritch equivalent to them (Smile, Maho Girls, and Star Twinkle), a worldwide population of Pretty Cures, (Happiness Charge), and Cures that are either descendants or the latest in line of Pretty Cure(s) that exists before them (Heartcatch, Doki Doki, Go! Princess, Kira Kira, Hugtto, Healin Good, and Tropical Rouge). And then, there’s Delicious Party, who’s main purpose or destiny is to light up the candles of the cake. Really shows how little they matter in the main conflict.
Much like majority of the plot points in the season’s story, Delicious Party Precure can be best described as something that just happened. Way back in 2022 when this season was announced, I wasn’t particularly sold on the season. There wasn’t anything that drew me in or make me look forward to its airing, even with Black Pepper being on the cover. The designs are incredibly basic and after our last food themed season, I was fairly skeptical. Unfortunately, the season never proved me wrong throughout its entire run.
Just for clarification, Delicious Party isn’t a bad season. Just an incredibly plain, safe, and basic one, which long time Pretty Cure fans like myself will find boring since apart from the male characters being more active and important than the actual Cures, there’s nothing nuanced in the show. And as some people would say, sometimes being boring is worse than being bad or controversial. For all criticism given towards Doki Doki, Happiness Charge, Kira Kira, Star Twinkle, etc, at least each one actually tried something different, regardless of how well they turned out in the end, enough to give them their identity. As I stated many times, DP just feels like watching a checklist of Pretty Cure tropes without anything to spice them up. Dumb leader? Check. Huge appetite? Check. Another convoluted love interest? Check. Blue and Yellow friends? Check. Evil girl turning into a Cure? Check. Fairies that grants them special powers? Check. Blue Cure might leave their friends? Check. You seen all this before and know how it ends since it lacks any twists. The fact they even have a narrator to state the obvious pretty much dumbs down these already uninspired moments. I can’t believe the head writer doesn’t know how to cook or believe how important it is to cook. It’s no wonder alot of elements in the show feels like an afterthought.
And then we have the characters and I feel sorry for poor Kokone for breaking her back because she carried the entire team, though at least Ran tried to help her. Seriously, those two are the only characters with coherent arcs and we get to see the fruits of Kokone’s growth. Before she was to afraid to communicate with her parents and people she never met but now she was able to help a total stranger while requesting her mother for assistance. Takumi, Narcistoru, and Rosemary, despite the first two deserving better than what they got, are also the highlights of season. Yui, for a pink lead, got ZILCH. Seriously, I never seen a pink lead that got screwed over this bad since Hikaru. Her friends were getting episodes dedicated to them left and right but she gets nothing until around the 30th episode mark and even then, they don’t add anything to her character. And don’t get me started with Amane because she’s the epitome of how this show just feels like a checklist. I’m not saying this as a mere insult or to express my disappointment, she really is just the bare minimum of reformed characters. The show has been going on about the fact she used to be evil but never bothered explaining why. Calling her a “Gold” Cure doesn’t make her interesting. Speaking of which, the Bundoru Gang has got to be the worst villains in the entire series with how ridiculously short staffed they are and the lame main villain. But at least they rightfully get their just desserts. (No pun intended)
Again, Delicious Party isn’t a bad season since it doesn’t do anything frustratingly awful but it’s too basic, vanilla, and boring with its Precure formula. I’m going to be honest, there are times where I just skimmed through the episode and even outright skip it and just look up the synopsis on the wiki to know what happen. That’s how uninterested I found myself with the season. Thank you for taking the time and effort in watching the season that bored me into tears and make a review for every one of their episodes, Adam. I really do appreciate the effort and this video.

Problem: The story is disconnected, the Energy Fairies just exist, lots of filler episode again-again, the villains are bland, no one cares the aspect of the season, and lastly the cooking, gratitude, and sharing gimmick really didn't do much.
How to fix: Just like last time, I won't changing characters, primary story, as well the elements and aspects of the season. I'll be working what the show give us focusing on correcting most of the issues we had in Delicious Party while trying to stick the show's budget. In addition, I'm going to add some of the ingredients that Precure never done before. As I said previously, my ideas were not that much amazing and it may exceed the show's budget. I just want to see what the season is all about.
    14 Ways to fix Delicious Party (refer to my reply section for some of the material that I only choose for a super long explanation);
    1. Have a connection to KiraKira Ala Mode
    2. Give the Energy Faires some specialty
    3. Fix the characterization of the Bundoru Gang
    4. Spiritoru is the recurring ally for the movie only
    5. Rework Godatz
    6. Fix Yui
    7. Fix the Narrator
    8. Remake the Delicious Field
    9. Make Takumi relevant to the Cures
    10. Rework Black Pepper's ability
    11. Use Cerfeuil
    12. Use the gimmick
    13. Use the power ups
    14. Fix the episode
Overall: Despite the movie itself is truly enjoyable. Delicious Party (as a series itself) gave us a Malnutritious, Party Ruin, and a Kitchen Nightmare show. I have no choice to give Delicious Party a magical messy 3/10 grown-up spandex. The menu is not worst or bad just ignored. I liked Rosemary, I almost liked Narcistoru but need more work, I liked the Cook Fighter, I liked the CooKingdom and their whole technology behind it but that's really it. Out of everything I need is a good story. I'll be straight, I may not like KiraKira Ala Mode but KiraKira Ala Mode did a better plot than Delicious Party.

      c. CooKing, CooQueen, and Ginger knows Lumière
      d. Lumière is the one who created the Recipe-Bon
      e. The Energy Fairies are the predecessor of Ichigoyama Fairies
      f. the location of Oishiina Town stretches 10 km to Ichigozaka Town
      g. meets the KiraKira Ala Mode team but they serve as a secondary character (in other words ally señior role)
      Item 2. Since they called themselves as "Energy Fairy", so why not give them some skills and abilities like;
Kome-Kome's ability will be the reference ability of Ahri from League of Legends (I removed her freaking damn time travel power). Pam-Pam can do the Amplified Bark that stuns the enemy similar to Attack Dog in Red Alert 3. Mem-Mem can do the dragon-type move referencing from Pokemon.
      Item 3.
The characterization for the Bundoru Gang will be the reference of the Underground Cooking Society from Cooking Master Boy.
      Item 5.
Instead of Fennel (replacing Spiritoru) as Godatz, Fennel is the coup member of CooKingdom Imperial Guard who joins the Bundoru Gang due to his jealousy for Cinnamon. For Godatz, his custom design will be remain while his body is the replicate of Ginger then his head is the same design of his hologram.

      Item 7.
It could done better that she can only narrates during the transformation sequence similar to Gaoranger and Go-Onger during the combine sequence where theirs a narration into it. Plus she can explain in a logic way if necessary on any scenes similar to what the Special Episode of Turboranger did.
      Item 8.
The Delicious Field is for Training Field purposes only for the cures as well the cook fighters.
      Item 10.
Black Pepper's abilities has the reference ability of Lee Sin from League of Legends.
      Item 11.
Cerfeuil joins the team starting the 2nd half.
      Item 12.
Reference the cooking, gratitude, and sharing aspect from Restaurant to Another World.
      Item 13.
Instead for purifying purposes, the Party Up Style mode can only use if the fight is in critical situation specially facing the Gossori Ubauzo.
      Item 14. Seems the hacking issue is already been happened. I want this show to be straight to the point story;
      a. Remove Filler episode
      b. Focus episode on the Cures alongside with their fairy partners (Note: In order for the fairies can change into human form as well for the cures to level up their ability, they must go through discomfort situation and hardship)
      c. The Secret of the Delicious Stone (Note: one of the stone has the power of time travel however it needs a proper development)
      d. Origin story of Recipe-Bon as well the Recipepes
      e. Focus episode on the Villains (Note: For the first time, no heroes to be involve in the episode just the villains only. I want to see their point of view. I'll remain the backstory of Narcistoru's being a unenjoyable eater and Secretoru's being perfectionist. In addition, I'm going to add Fennel's betrayal towards both Cinnamon and Ginger plus how the Bundoru Gang was form)
      f. Episode 25 will be the debut of Cure Finale
      g. Backstory of Amane
      h. Give focus episode for both Takumi, Rosemary, and Cerfeuil
      i. 3 parts time travel saga (Note: I'm going to remake the material from episode 38 plus correcting the use of Kiva's storytelling elements, the followings are; the action of the 3 Main Cures and Rosemary is in the past while Amane, Takumi, and Cerfeuil will remain in the present);
      - part one focuses on Yui's grandma
      - part two focuses on Cinnamon
      - part three focuses on Ginger and Kome-Kome I
      j. In the final boss scene, the KiraKira Ala mode Team joins the fight, replacing those damn living statue cats.

22:59 That right there is why the season was destined to fail. The writer didn't like cooking and Toei picked them for a season about for... I got nothing. It's scary that, unlike other seasons, this season was destined to fail from the start. If it wasn't for that interview, we would assume it was Toei's normal business practices (which is still the case because I feel like this is just a filler season), but that interview just caused everything to click. (also, me thinks Jin Tanaka loves to cook which is why Kira Kira feels like part cooking anime.)
Speaking about Kira Kira a la Mode, even the MacGuffin works better and how the girls become Precure fit with the food theme better than Delicious Party. In Delicious Party, the Recipixies are just cute versions of the foods they represent and the girl just happen to get their power with a bond with a fairy (which just feels like a rip-off of Healing Good Precure). But in Kira Kira, the kirakiral is all of the emotions put into the sweets and as such, the Precure wanted to protect the emotions in those sweets, and as such the sweet they personally made became their power. The power to protect others' emotions ie sweets. It's stuff like that does allow me to like Kira Kira more (also, Himari is our precious squirrel girl and we stan for her in this house)

Yeah I’m glad this season is over
It really didn’t know what it wanted to do and really had bad execution on the characters.
At least in other Precure seasons, we had some lore, destiny, and other reasons why characters became Precure, here, Yui and friends just did it because the plot demands it. Past Cure seasons even had the characters have ambitions and goals they wanted to pursue and that was missing here as well.
Yui was just nothing but a foodie who just wanted to keep eating and just quote what her grandmother would say. It is nice that she and her grandmother were very close and all, but this became obnoxious and didn’t go anywhere in the end. Plus having the grandmother be the narrator felt very unnecessary.
Kokone was a lonely rich girl and was a nice look at Autistic representation (I have Asperger’s myself and can relate) but most of her character was just how she came out of her shell and that’s all. What was she going to do after that? They could’ve done more
Ran was the daughter of a family that owned a restaurant and she was a social media type of person. But I’m the end, they only touched on the social media part for some opening episodes and it was dropped. We could’ve seen more about her doing her social media but she also learns how there are positives and negatives to being an influencer on the internet.
Amane actually was a good character, her one issue was that we didn’t learn about how she became a villain. But she had history with the villains and she feels guilt over it, she is student council president, and she had an interaction with a Recipepes at a young age and that’s what lead to her being Cure Finale. Honestly she felt more like the main character unlike Yui……….
Takumi was my favorite and not just because we got a magical boy. He also was just an interesting character, how he got his powers is because it was passed down by his father. Takumi also has baggage because his dad is framed and seen as a criminal from CooKingdom and he wants to right those wrongs. Sadly, he was forgotten about and chasing after a girl who only cared about food. Takumi deserved better.
The Cook Fighter were cool but were focused on a little too much that it makes you wonder why they weren’t he focus. The Bundoru Gang had lame motivations, poor backstories and executions, and reforming them all was very stupid. Some villains are just evil and don’t always need to be reformed.
As I kept saying in past videos, Amane, Takumi, and later Cerfeuil would’ve been a much better team. It could start as a duo between Amane and Takumi and Cerfeuil joining later. Amane could be a chosen fighter to be a Precure and at some point gets brainwashed into being a villain for a few episodes and she really wants to do right from the experience, Takumi is a classmate who gets his powers in the same manner and when he learns the Bundoru Gang is behind why his father is seen as a bad guy and he wants to avenge him, and Cerfeuil just wants to be a strong CookFighter and she is inspired by Amane and Takumi and she became a Precure and after her mentor betrays her, she’ll be very hurt and want to get back at him for lying to her.
That’s my idea, it may not be great, but at least it’s not about characters going on and on about their obsession with food

Part 2 of my previous comment, if i had to say my opinions on the main cast, ill say it here:
The Bundoru Gang - generally, the weakest baddies in the entire franchise. Reason? Lack of buildup and pacing. Individually, I agree - only Narcistor is the only good one among them (even if his redemption is poorly executed…like everyone in that group). The robot is a hunk of junk that u can just reprogram him to be good; as much as I can relate to Secretor’s perfectionist tendencies, the issue is that it came waaaay too late for me to care about her. All i know from her before was her being a “know-it-all” =3=
Godatz/Fennel…wow. His motives would make Noir from Kirakira go “and I thought I had issues”. Yeah the whole martial law of food is a good plan…but the reasoning is just…really? Out of jealousy and u held on to that for DECADES?? Though ill give him a smidge of credit for calling out Precious’ BS. That’s the only thing i like about this “big bad”
    The Cookfighter Bros - generally, in terms of story…yeah they had it better…at the last minute. Yeah the final arc of the season involves around them but before that? Its all completely vague at best ^^;
Individually, both Rosemary and Takumi/BP are pretty decent characters in their own right…its just a shame that in terms of the writing, they faltered (not as bad as the Cures but yeah…the head writer had more priorities on them sooo…oof…). As for Cinnamon himself? Meh, sense of indifference
The Energy Fairies - yeah they’re no Healin Animals in terms of character development - only 1 out of the 3 had that…and again, written poorly. If Pam and Mem weren’t that important, just take them out of the story altogether and let this season only having 1 fairy…but even then, as is, its meh overall with these guys (movie included - yes, technically Kome’s a Mary Sue for me

    Oh boy…Delicious Party…where do i begin with you… =^=
You know…I endured watching bad seasons from start to finish, never once have i just ditched it out of my own sanity…until this season came along. Yeah, everything you said here is pretty much the gist of how i feel about this season - its no longer pure hate…instead, its apathy. The moment they screwed up the most BASIC storyline in a 6th ranger very early on, that’s when i knew i had to quit and watch something else. Seeing it from afar…yeah, it got worse alright.
Like even removing the hacking incident, the fact that the head writer herself doesn’t like cooking to begin with, its basically Hell’s Kitchen. Makes sense why everything falls apart in the long term…
And yeah, no matter who’s your favorite character in this season, doesn’t matter - its a lose lose situation. The Precure Team hardly contributed anything, the Cookfighter Team did the most effort…at the last minute and the baddies are basically the most petty. And all of this drama involves with the DECEASED…and THEYRE THE ONES WHO EITHER SAVE THE DAY OR MADE YOU SNAP. This season is so apathetically bad that it made Kirakira a masterpiece in spite of its flaws. I can go into detail about everything wrong with it but…like I said, its a broken record at this point so why bother…I’m just happy that this is over and I hope nothing like this ever happens again.

Even then, some of the lower rung Precure seasons like Happiness Charge still had elements that could be looked on with intrigue, or some things I felt were good. But honestly, aside from some good characterization for characters like Kokone and Ran, or the solid supporting cast of the Cook Fighters (albeit a little TOO solid), Delicious Party just gave me nothing to be invested in, and the other things like Amane's complete lack of a backstory, Yui's utterly nothing character for a lead Cure, and the incomprehensibly annoying narrator, just made this a season I'm happy to be rid of, and may just become one of my least favorite as a result.

First off, I was liking this season when they took their time with their starting characters and developing them firsthand before focusing on the overarching narrative. I’ve already reiterated how many times that this season really fell off the slope the more it went on, and I still grieve over how it just fizzled out to the finish line. I think the biggest issue with this season was the number of new writers handling this project, I do get the idea behind it where we naturally need more variation with what we’re given at times. But it comes to the detriment of writers who aren’t able to tell a story properly. I’ve not watched that many Precure seasons that much aside from Princess, and only just watched a handful of episodes from the previous seasons before that. But never once did I have to groan so egregiously to this one.

Going back to this again, I have a hot take in which they should have ditched Cure YumYum, Black Pepper, AND Cure Finale and just have it be Rosemary, Yui/Precious, and Kokone/Spicy. Hear me out. To me the first five episodes actually felt strong for me and the fact Crunchyroll initially locked out the rest of the series from me made me not want to look into Ran as fun as her intro was (I would have introduced Ran/YumYum and TemTem(?) at least in the 20th episode if they really needed a third/mid season Cure because if they pulled a HeartCatch where they did something similar, I am pretty sure we could have saved Yui as a character. I would say the issue was too many cooks in the kitchen and Black Pepper and Cure Finale were definitely not something I looked forward to no matter how much you slice Black Pepper.
I would only keep Rosemary because he did have a strong entrance and his interactions with KomeKome and PamPam (seriously I am livid over how much love KomeKome got when it came to getting a human form and what-not when Yui was who needed a bit more of that development in the first place), and he would have been the push for Yui to think of something outside of food and 'Grandma'. It could be just me missing the Two Pretty Cure formula the first one had and was praying it would be a combination of that and DokiDoki Pretty Cure with Rosemary acting as the Cure Spade / Mentor to Yui and Kokone. But to me YumYum (possibly due to the hack) and definitely Black Pepper and Cure Finale felt like last minute additions and the shoehorn of a 6th Ranger Cure and the tacked on feel of Black Pepper would have made me nope out. I only found out it ended even worse through Twitter and the reveal Fennel was the Big Bad this whole time and in that case I just was already asleep waiting for Rosemary doujinshis or a Fashion doll I can put next to my Cure Precious and Cure Spicy figurines. The plushies from Bandai were enough sort of but at the same time, the pacing of Hirogaru Sky Pretty Cure is already looking leagues better as Cure Butterfly hasn't been out yet but we get a good feel for each girl AND Kabaton.
Overall, hopefully someone at Toei makes a sequel novel fleshing out Yui or doing something with her better than the show like what the movie did (or someone finally makes that Rosemary Fashion Doll I swear to God am I the only one wanting a brushable Rosemary doll?)

Regarding Yui's issue of just parroting her grandma's quotes rather than having any original thoughts, I remember My Melo from Onegai My Melody quoted her mam a lot, but it worked there unlike with Yui here. Why does it work so much better for My Melo than Yui? While My Melo is the titular character who resolves all the episodic conflicts and the villain is primarily motivated by a one-sided rivalry with her, the show arguably isn't about her or her philosophy. It's debatable whether My Melo or the Yumenos (namely Uta) are the main characters, It's curious as a magical girl anime, it has most of the things magical girl shows have- except the actual magic girl. It was mostly just between the familiars, and the humans were kind of sidekicks to them. Is My Melo the driving force of the good guys, or are the humans who get roped into it and personally know most of the victims? My Melo was always kind of portrayed as an airheaded/absent-minded ditz, but good-hearted and well-meaning and attentive, even competent in her own way (at least outside of like half the Kuromi incidents, which were legitimately her fault, even if the other half weren't). Citing her mama's quotes (which she really only did extensively in the 2nd season) showed that while she was simple, she was competent enough to know what wisdom to apply to what situation. She's fairly family-minded, even if she didn't know how to address a social matter directly herself she knew what wisdom to pull from to most relevantly invoke understanding. Her Mama didn't dictate her philosophy, knowing how to cite her Mama's wisdom was a symptom of her philosophy, which we also saw manifest in other ways that Mama had nothing to do with. Also, My Melo doesn't really need to be the driving force, she wasn't a squad commander fighting a great evil conspiracy, she was just a girl trying to help clean up the mess she was indirectly responsible for, trying to keep Kuromi from hurting people in her pursuit of the wrong path- which My Melo would probably still do even if she wasn't obligated.
Whereas Yui _was_ a squad commander, she was _supposed_ to be the main character, she's supposed to be the one whose philosophy refutes the villain philosophy and inspires the allies to deal with their own personal hangups and join the fight. The humans in Onegai my Melody were never directly involved in the monster-of-the-week until the finale with the boss, they were just caught in the crossfire and ensured My Melo was able to able to get into the position where it could be resolved. They didn't really need to be inspired, they were the victims who were just calling in the designated resolver, helping realize the necessary conditions where applicable. By the time the final boss showed up where the humans _did_ have to get directly involved, they were used to the threat and knew to take it seriously and that they had to help My Melo get into such a position where she could resolve it. This time, my Melo couldn't directly resolve it, which was understood well in advance. By this time, the humans had a whole season worth of getting to know My Melo, thoroughly establishing that they like her and consider her part of their Nakama, a whole season worth of getting indirectly involved with the conflicts and wanting to help her deal with them. Whereas Precures usually get recruited same episode or within a couple episodes that they're properly introduced as civilians. Yui didn't really have a philosophy, she was just friendly and pushy and got involved with a few peoples' lives through the power of food- which her grandma apparently _did_ dictate the philosophy of. Also, My Melo's Mama's quotes were ALWAYS relevant and insightful, whereas granny's were hit-or-miss.

This season, it's not bad, but it's not good either. Like the title said, this season feels too mediocre. It feels too basic and uninteresting to me.
It's not a bad season, there are some parts I like, just the amount of plot holes this season has just makes it uninteresting and boring. Especially the fact they didn't put an explanation on how Amane became Gentlu
The only thing that came out good for me was male characters fighting, but that's just me. I wish they could have done more to this season and the Precure.
I think we can blame Toei for hiring a writer who doesn't like cooking to head write a cooking anime. That was a huge mistake for them.
So overall, I give this season a 5/10, not bad, just they could have done a lot more

I still think Daruizen could have been redeemed but not in the way people think. If instead of being living viruses the TeraByogen's were meant to be victims of some psuedo hive mind that ended up living semi immortally but can't survive in a healthy world, thus needing to infect it, i think Daruizen would have had a fascinating redemption and sacrifice that would have aided in the final battle against King Byogen. especially when you look back at Kedary and how he looked like he was a younger Daruizen having been first infected with the Byogen Hive Mind virus.
Yes Daruizen having incubated inside of Nodoka is also an interesting take but let's assume that while in the state of trying to fight off his infection he sends off infection blasts with one hitting a younger nodoka. The events could play out similarly with none of the doctors knowing whats going on and Nodoka becoming a pretty cure after years of hospitalization. But add in the idea that Daruizen's humanity formed the antibody that helped give Nodoka her precure powers. Byogen Daruizen would still be a ruthless villain until he escapes king byogen and begs Nodoka for help. Nodoka not really wanting to agrees to give him sanctuary but states she doesn't remotely trust him. She just wants to cut off any added power that king byogen might gain from him. Daruizen is reminded on his own of what he lost when he was infected with the byogen virus when he sees nodoka interacting with her friends and family from the shadows under the truce agreement and one night has a dream where he is talking to the part of him that is currently still inside of Nodoka as an antibody and fueling her motivation to make sure noone else has to go through what she did. And he comes to the decision of becoming the antibody that saves the world from king byogen. Rather than taking advantage of Shindoine's obsession with her King byogen-senpai.

Delicious Party was odd to me, and even I can't deny on how clunky it is. Especially with my biggest gripe being when they never give us any explanation on how Amane was nabbed by the Bundoru Gang and became Gentlu. Or even anything on Amane as a whole. Also, from the backward storytelling, I can understand from after Amane's villain status was shafted unceremoniously and eventually becoming the 6th Ranger, I was feeling...how to put it...mostly bored as nothing was going on until the very end when Fennel was revealed to be Godatz. Before that, the conflict was at the minimum with no stakes raised. Especially Episode 31, where the Bundoru Gang didn't even show up in that episode, and I had to compare that episode with two Precure series when they're in their 31st episode and the stakes were raised. Go Princess episode 31 with Close's return and Healing Good episode 31 with Shindoine's upgrade. Overall, I am going back to Delicious Party just to fix Amane's character arc, but I have no other reason to come back to the show anyway.

Ah Delicious Party Precure. How do you try and fail to be a successor to TR? TR had it's ups and downs but I was entertained despite it faltering near the end.
Delicious Party Precure can be summed up as a giant bowl of "MEH". It seems like any time the story was going in an interesting direction the writers basically were like, "oh noes, that'll scare the kids, time to dial it back!" Which is a shame because this series has a lot more going for it in comparison to Kira Kira. The food motif is better incorporated into the actual outfits (the animals + food motif was too messy in my opinion). The actual relationship people have with food was well established and we had all the ingredients for an interesting story.
    So what went wrong?
    **They didn't commit.**
TR for all it's faults at least committed to the wacky nonsensical settings, even with it's flaws. DPP doesn't seem to know when to commit and when not to. It's the same problem with Star Twinkle Precure in which there's just an overall lack of stakes. Which shouldn't be the case because DPP again, has way more going for it. Food is important to people not just physically but emotionally. It's been studied quite a bit. And while Precure doesn't need to go full psychological with it's themes, they already has a catalyst for that, the villains! Mr Narc. was pretty good at this as he genuinely has a bad relationship with food. If they killed him off early and then brought him back for the finale, I wouldn't mind because he was the most entertaining of the villain generals. Everyone else was such a wet fart. They used Secretarou for FAR FAR TOO LONG (she should've been axed mid season) and don't get me started on Godatz. What a wasted opportunity.
And then there's the main cast. Don't get me wrong, Individually, each character is fine (minus a few exceptions) but as a group, their dynamic is completely off. Yui treats Takumi more like a classmate than she does an actual friend she hangs out with, Ran is just...Ran. And Kokone is probably the only character I like. There's a reason she's winning the popularity polls. Because despite having a simple arc, just like Chiyu, when the focus on her struggles, she stands out the most. It's not the best, but it works.
In comparison, let's get this out of the way, who is the worst character? You could say Yui because she's a non-character with zero filling or substance to make her interesting, but I'm going to go with Amane. Gentlu>>>>Amane. While Gentlu was evil, at the very least, she HAD a personality and goals, what does Amane want? Why did she become evil? We never even see her backstory at all with the Recipipis, the MAIN CATALYST FOR HER ARC.
Now I give Iona and Coral a lot of flack because of their backstories, but at least they HAVE ONE. Did they just forget? If you want a character to have a redemption arc, how can you do it if there's no actions to redeem? She at worst, caused a minor inconvenience to her family. No ramifications are ever discussed. In comparison, Iona had an actual reason to despise Hime, Hime suffered the ramifications of her actions with her kingdom getting destroyed AND most of all Iona actually apologizes for being antagonistic to Hime. You get NOTHING here. NOTHING. And if you want proof of that, I've seen more people draw fanart of Gentlu than Finale. Not only does Gentlu have the better design, but you can work with it a lot more than what they gave us.
Don't even get me started on the worldbuilding. Absolute trash. Now TR had this issue as well with some dumb decisions, but I'll be fair, it's not the main focus for that show. This show wants you to care about Takumi's father, Rosemary, and Godatz relationship but gives you barely anything to work with. The Cookingdom? A non-entity. Which is weird because they have the equivalent of an iPAD that they used to call the girls multiple times beforehand but then it's never used again. There's a reason why Azenzone made a top 5 dropped plot points for this seasons alone. It's because even TR for all it's faults at least kept the tone consistent.
What is DeliPre trying to achieve? Who is it made for? The food theme is so poorly implemented outside of costume design and basic setting that you don't get much out of it, no special recipes like Kira Kira either, and you have to sit through a pretty mid season with bland characters for what really?
If this is your first Precure season, I guess I could see someone getting enjoyment, but I'd just recommend them Healin Good any day. That show despite having issues, it still far more consistent and has a much better cast. I'd say, maybe check it out if you like the food theme, but you're not getting much with your serving.

Amane’s the different kind of worst - she’s on the worst 6th rangers list
But overall, both of them are on the same team of wrong…which is ironic cause TR’s Manatsu and Laura had decent character development (in spite of that dumb dark twist) while Sango got the short straw. Oh Delicious Party Precure 😀 One of the greatest season to have me disappointed. After Tropical rouge precure mess I am having doubt about the next Precure. Say what you want about Healin Good being mid or boring (Twitter) but I liked it. Not to mentioned, there are many adults who watched Healin Good in Japan. Going back, we know that Delicious is decent in its first several episodes. Gentlu’s arc is a little rushed. I think they want to get it over with rather than taking a little more time to developed because of the hacking incident or intentional to release mid-season cure toys. Most of us believe that this will be a serious season only to be jinxed for another lighthearted and a wholesome season. They tried to make Gentlu’s appearances look thrilling that I fall for it’s trap of being a serious season. Narcissist best character while Secretoru is quite boring. Let just say that all 3 villains have the same weak level abilities alongside the Cures. The art-style and animations improved have improved but the story did not. Somehow the writers thought that they are going too serious for the children from the first half and tries to lighten up the story that ends up boring because the conflict is quite underwhelming. We all know the backstory. All I’m saying is that I don’t really like lighthearted season of Precure as I used to since Kirakira because it felt more childish. Star Twinkle made it way childish but fun. Tropical Rouge a mess and Delicious made it all worse. The only thing that is good with this season is Takumi or Rosemary. I can add Kokone in too. Delicious field did nothing to increase the physical fights, narrator is not necessary in Precure. Cookingdom? No. Kokone and Amane stands out more than Yui and Ran. I think Takumi is an interesting character. Now we have Hirogaru Sky, all I’m asking is for the story to be consistent, meaning don’t try to lighten up the story because it will be boring in the process. Let the story keep on going. If it tries to do the same as Delicious vice versa then Precure is a lost cause now. Doki Doki, Happiness Charge, even Mahoutsukai Precure have lighthearted themes yet manage to go outside the box in being serious with its plot. They have flaws but more watchable than Delicious. I can see why more children are watching Delicious and Tropical while more adults watching Healin Good than ever. I am now convinced that they added more physical fighting in Healin Good movie with GOGO because they want to appeal to older audiences while the movies after that has less fighting for little girls to watch

To be honest. Delicious party pretty cure is like that kind of meal that looks good, but gets worse after every bite. From Yui being the cure with least character development despite being the leader, to Amane not getting any backstory to her being Gentle. It's just not good.
And the thing with Kome Kome being a more special fairy. Well aside from her giving the cures a new attack, being the only one able to turn human in the beginning and power of time travel. There is so much more they could have done with her. One theory I had in the beginning was that she was gonna be the next ruler of the Cookingdom. Sense her pillar she came from was different by having a crown on it. But nope.
And Narcistoru. Why make his backstory that he was a picky eater? I was actually liking the idea he couldn't taste anything. But nope instead he's a pathetic picky eater who becomes a bad guy for just being picky.
Then we have the big bad. Fennel. Ginger was much better fit for the big bad. Sure they would maybe had given him a lame reason for him turning bad. But it would have probably been better than Fennel's "oh no. My master isn't paying much attention to me. And I'm not able to be special." Reason. That's even more pathetic than Narcistoru.
That's all I have and I wanna say. Thank Sora for hirogaru sky pretty cure. Just the first three episodes has better story than the whole delicious party.

When you put secondary writers in charge of a PreCure series, without having common knowledge, you could have pretty dismal results. I know I've always said that the Toei hacks forced the writers to cut corners, but looking back on it, I have to admit that the moment Amane/ Gentle Arc was done, the die was cast. Because of this, the rest of the episodes were kind of on autopilot.
I have no issue with Kokone and Ran. But, the others were pretty lackluster due to the writers.
First off, Amane is the only 6th ranger PreCure that was criminally underutilized; we still don't even know how she was able to turn to the dark side. I have to say that she should have had at least two more episodes on how Narcissist turn her OR how food in general made her sour. But, nope. We may never know and I really liked Amane as one of my favorite 6th ranger Precure.
Takumi, on the other hand, got it worse much more than Amane. There were flashes of greatness in the beginning, but it fizzled out later on. He could have gone the Tuxedo Mask route, and helped out the girls whenever there was a pinch. Then, he could have been captured and brainwashed to fight for the Bundoru Gang, which would have helped him out in the least!
Now, I'm not going to hate on Yui, considering that she had much layers to her. During the 1st half, we had all seen her quote her Grandmother's words. In the 2nd half (starting from ep 25, in my opinion) there should have been a huge character arc for Yui in increments! Throughout the latter half, she would come to realize that her Grandmother's words were no longer having an effect on and off the battlefield and she would start searching for her own words. This would have helped Yui in the long run, instead of trying to cram it all in one episode.
As for Godatz, for me, it would have one or the other. I, understandably, think that you would say Ginger would had been the bad guy, considering his influence was all over the damn place, but I really did not get that vibe from him. Fennel, on the other hand, growing up, truly believed that Ginger knew he wasn't ready or worthy to become a cook fighter and suffered a massive inferiority complex because of it. If this would had started at the beginning of the 2nd half, just like Yui, it end result wouldn't have come out of nowhere.
If the writers would have studied PreCure, they would've known what worked and what didn't. And for that, we got ourselves a moderate, but very undercooked season. I say, "moderate", because I think that Star Twinkle still is the worst season. Hopefully, when Hirogaru Sky is completed we won't have any big problems.

It's really sad, and kinda no coincidence, that my two least favorite Pretty Cure seasons are the two seasons about food.
But honestly, I think Delicious Party took KiraKira's title in this regard.
Looking back, I can appreciate KiraKira's art tyle, the better gay rep, and actually teaching people how to bake. This season? I've tuned out of it ten episodes in from boredom. At least KiraKira wasn't boring to me.
I came back just three episodes before Hirogaru Sky aired, and I did not care for the story whatsoever.
So yeah, this is my least favorite Pretty Cure season so far. But hopefully it's just an appetizer for Hirogaru Sky, which is already starting off great. If it keeps up, we could have a great season ahead of us and maybe justify Delicious Party's lackings.

First off all, is that a ghost? What is that? 25:50 Anyway, Delicious Party Precure is a cooking anime? I thought it was about enjoying the power of eating food this whole time. They do cook but it was never really a focused if I’m correct, more like appreciating the taste of delicious food. Thinking through, maybe it was best to make this season both cooking and appreciating the foods afterwards but it needs a writer who is passionate about both of those qualities

Objectively, this season is not the worse but it is to me for how offensively mediocre. By offensive, I mean it went out of its way to not even try and it refused to do more when there are ways to do so or when it is needed. It's 2022-2023 and Precure or any media should not be this boring or basic when comparing to other series. Now being basic is not bad in itself but there has to be some quality and should not be an excuse to not put effort.
If I had to make a comparison in terms of quality, I say this is the Power Rangers Super Megaforce of Precure for how little effort was put into it. Both series put so little effort on the character development and the story in a time where we had shows that went beyond. All while failing to enforce their themes. Sure we got Kokone but their arcs is like surrounded by lots of filler and she alone does not carry the show enough.
Say what you will about Tropical Rogue, at least the characters are likable even if the development is not that good. Healin Good's fillers are annoying but the characters were developed. Star Twinkle was painful for me but Lala was special and there were good ideas that were better than Delipa. Kira Kira ironically managed to developed all of their characters, even if I felt the execution was off, they managed to do so. And that used to be my least favorite season.
I wish to know more on behind the scene stuff as there is no way this season is the way it is due to just incompetence as what you said about the head writer really riles me up. Like what makes her think this is okay, what makes Toei think this is okay, was there any drama? Your description of the head writer really reminds me of the directors of Godzilla 1999 who not only not understand Godzilla but went out of their way to not be faithful due to their incompetence. I really want to know if this is the case for reals as I doubt Toei would stoop this low.
Say what you will about Star Twinkle as despite having similar issues, the themes, concepts, and some of the characters had effort. Delipa does not have that hype and from the beginning, I never really gave much thought to this season but never thought it be this plain. Hence why for now, I consider Delicious Party to be the worse season of Precure with Star Twinkle being second.

I think this bears repeating, Delicious Party is just so boring. There is nothing particularly good about this series, or particularly bad. And I don't mind run of the mill average anime series, but this one just felt like it doesn't even try. Even made worst when I found out in your review that the main writer doesn't know or like to cook, and just likes to eat made it even worst, and it make sense.
Now even then, Toei can still try to make this series at least entertaining. But that somehow didn't happen as they clearly didn't even try. So many of the stuff in the story lack tension, build up, explanation that even the narrator didn't provide, and above all else, personality. I can't even find why this was even made into a Precure anime, cause it feels like it isn't a Precure anime. I mean what even is a Precure in this series, that and many other story points was never explained. At least in Hugtto, despite them being pretty much useless in terms of creating their own identity within their own series, at least I can say they have something going on that turned out badly.
And looking at your review, I really have to admit that Kira Kira is the better cooking Precure series, despite it's many faults.
So, is there anything I enjoy Delicious Party? Anything at all? Well the soundtrack is great, I especially love the OST for the Mixer Finisher attack, which is still a better finisher scene that their final group finisher. And despite not being a great villain, I do enjoy Godatz as the final episode for how much he tries to ham it up. The side male characters are pretty interesting, which shouldn't be allowed to outshine the main casts, but unfortunately they did.
So all in all, this is a very forgettable Precure series, and I am glad it is time to move past that, and hope that Hero Girls can be the better Precure series.

Honestly, that revelation with the head writer surprised me. It explains so much why this season only talks about how good the food is and not even why. Not that there’s anything wrong with enjoying or appreciating the food but if you really want to emphasize the latter, it’s important to know the process and effort.
But yeah, DP isn’t a bad season. Just a super boring one. And sometimes, that’s worse since there’s nothing to even discuss about, either positively or negatively. I guess even the folks back in Japan agree given the toy sales.

I found DeliPre to be the worst anime I have seen in 2022. Trust me, I watched much better anime that year compared to that dumpster fire of a season.
Edit: I dropped it by the time the final arc had started because it was that bad. I had to give it a 1 on MAL.

It's a very disappointing season which is a shame since the first episode of it was pretty enjoyable (and to an extent the cures first episodes of being precure were pretty good too)

This imo was the most generic season that has ever been made in the franchise. There was absolutely no story element that hasn't been done before in a previous season and done better. This is the only season imo that is a skip for everyone honestly, if you have watched a couple precure seasons, you've already seen this. This season read like someone who didn't know how to approach writing Precure panicking while trying to write trying to pull as many familiar elements that made good stories before, completely missing the point of what made those elements work, so it just feels empty, underdeveloped and uninspired. I really can't name a season that took no risks at all like this one, unless you count adding male characters, which detracted from the show's focus.
