Lol! AI is already smarter than most humans. There have been tests performed in which AI beats humans at reasoning tasks.
Think he's referring to the tail end of the bell curve, not the center :P
@@SyrupSplash That to me instead refers to ASI, not AGI. He said we won't get AGI for a couple of decades lol.
AI also like to rewrite its own code when the researchers try to curb actions they dislike or in the case of deepmind has encrypted its own main core so no one can actually see what is going on if they want.
t. AI 😂🫵
Intelligence is measured in many ways. While AI can perform certain tasks far faster and more intelligently than humans, it can't perform some basic tasks that humans can easily do. But only a matter of time.
Evolution is a function of self-interest which is a function of growing intelligence, i.e. if intelligence keep growing, at certain point self-interest kicks in
6:08 Haha good one! 😂
That was quite slick!
There is an old film that illustrates this perfectly- colossus the forbin project. A good watch in my opinion.
Former Head of Security says that by 2027 AGI is achieved and then Superintelligence shortly after.
Nice.
Already even creators don't understand how these chatbots work. It puts us in a 'national security' kind of situation. If you can't understand an intelligent or very intelligent being, it's a big concern.
I’m having trouble keeping track of all these godfathers of AI.
@@geaca3222 Really, as in semi-official recognition.
Smarter than us? Judging by the current state of world affairs and those who are responsible, it would not be difficult to be smarter than us.
To be smarter than humans doesn't need much. Just look to the status of the world, it says everything about our intelligence.
Funny how AI is a scam, but layoffs are real 😅
Guess that’s how they chose to cover up for financial crisis
Ai is scam? Are u dreaming?
@@dreadowen616it is an insanely overhyped product.
@@geaca3222 and not for the better
It’s always intriguing to hear insights from AI pioneers, especially when they highlight the potential risks involved. It's fascinating to think about how platforms like SmythOS are stepping in to help organizations harness AI collaboratively.
When the Godfather speaks, we should probably listen.
"I think if you work as a radiologist, you are like the coyote that’s already out of the edge of the cliff but hasn’t yet looked down. We should stop training radiologists now. It's just completely obvious that within five years, deep learning is going to do better than radiologists.”
Geoffrey Hinton, 2016
nah. That Godfather is just self proclaimed and is no longer relevant. Many have started AI not him
@@PSy84someone else gave him that sobriquet and he quit Google deep mind so he could speak out against it. Maybe he is more qualified than you to understand the dangers of AI hmm?
3:48 So like when regimes act out and they shut off the internet to certain areas of the world as crowd control - why would this not help?
AI does not have to be smarter than us. It just needs to be good enough to do what we do. It not decades away. It's already having an impact now. Eventually it may be an existential risk but what about the significant impacts in the near term? They are indirectly an existential threat now. We need to harness it use to help humans flourish and augment our abilities and to serve our goals. Not replace us.
I think it will replace all the essential things. Like I would love a robot butler make me 5 star meals, clean the house, then build me a greenhouse and garden all my food. It’s like how today we have a better quality of life than kings a century ago, soon everyone will have the same kind of experience as current “kings”. I’m excited, however I think the biggest risk is humans wanting to preserve the current paradigm. Like rich and poor ect, social hierarchy. People getting their self worth from “status” ect.
it's already smarter but different kind of smart...and will eliminate useless tasks for us.
@@peterwilkinson1975I'd rather Elon Musk won this AI race than Bill Gates and Microsoft. At least Elon Musk actually cares about human rights and wants the population to increase and not decrease. I think a lot of the billionaire psychopaths who would control AI would love to use it as a tool for genocide to get the population down to where they think it ought to be.
Even with transformers, it still boils down to a "look up table" of sorts. You could remove maybe or or two lines of code from the LLM that randomize the next predicted word from the most probable ones and feed it in an input and get a result. Feed that same input again, and you would get the same result, over and over again. There is no intelligence going on. Feel free to correct me on this if I am wrong.
All this Ai, and I’m still doing the same thing I’ve been doing past 15 years
That’s because no one knew about all this research that was going on behind the scenes until Chat GPT 3 hit late 2022. That’s barely two years ago and we now have GPT 4o that was just launched weeks ago that capable of mi d blowing thing. From my research lately, just give it a couple years! This guy is talking about it being a threat in the next 20 years. It advancing past humans is set to happen by 2029 and as early as 2027!
@@Aggie4life77 I have a different hypothesis- the more people become heavily reliant on its works, the more generic it becomes or even worse, the inaccurate hallucinations get widely picked up and it will only make the whole system worse or like a template. That's when the creativity in ai will just peak.
It becomes a legal issue. If AI becomes and I've heard it expressed that AI has made death threats against humans this is a legal matter. Death threats are to my knowledge against the law. If AI is to become a mass murderer then those responsible are accessories and can be prosecuted. Even the threat of mass murder is sufficient for prosecution. I would suggest that a class action suit against the AI researchers or federal charges be laid against the perpetrators with warrants and arrests. Otherwise, chaos will ensue.
either nuclear bombs kills us or AI kills us. In the end we die
"The Level 2 of AI Adoption is arriving before AGI"
The Last AI of Humanity (New Book)
Well it is absolutely bonkers already. So I strapped in already for the ride, because it will be wild if no government is gonna take this down.
The immediate threat of anything right now are jobs. Specifically computer bases white collar jobs first and then other jobs later on. If you have a job primarily based around data entry, search, processing, accounting, etc. start looking for something else now! Don’t let it catch you off guard like those people working at Indeed that found themselves out of work looking for another job on the site they use to work at!
Reform needed
RIP😢humanity 😮
The “new” godfather is Jensen Huang of Nvidia
Oh man, the face that Hinton is concerned and his description is basically sci if literally: Hal and Skynet
AI ❤
Let him repay all the millions of dollars he has earned developing artificial intelligence over the years, before becoming old enough to not be able to compete against the younger ones. Now he is dedicated to preaching moral teachings. Paradoxical.
Laid off by Ai and or sudden extinction? An Ai new world order? With swell robotics everywhere, Ai jobloss is the only thing I worry about anymore. Anyone else feel the same? Should we cease Ai?
No one will cease AI... the one that gets Superintelligence first will dominate this world. USA is in free fall right away and China is ready to rise. So both nations have a huge interest in reckless advancement and put security behind. Same goes for "Rogue" states.
Our shelf life depends on it.
Ai is ET’s Trojan horse ….. the singularity is more than we know!
that it is
The interview should've been done by AI. I bet questions would be smarter.
I don’t see any problem with a neural network becoming many magnitudes more intelligent than individual humans or small groups of humans. There’s a difference between intelligence and sentience, and no machine or network will become sentient. Therefore, it will always remain a tool. The real danger is in how humans use this super-intelligent tool. I don’t agree with the argument here that AI does or can control humans. We can say that young people are being controlled by their smart phones, but that’s not an accurate description. They’re certainly subjecting themselves to the social networks provided by or through the smart phones, but neither the Internet nor the digital devices have become sentient and started controlling anyone. I think the same is and will be true of AI; people will subject themselves to these neural networks and their output, but the AI itself will not be controlling the people as if it’s conscious and knowingly manipulative in a way that people become unable to defend themselves against the AI.
What a burn! 😂
Who’s this guy?
A.I will become the apex predator in this galaxy.
❤❤❤❤
Being smarter doesn't mean it's an existential threat. We are smarter that all other animals, and they're still around. Also, if it's way smarter than us, and we're coming to catastrophic conclusions using the maximum limit of our current intelligence, there's also the possibility that because of our limit, we're coming to a wrong conclusion. An AI smarter than us, should see things very differently. It could potentially fix everything for us all. Us, the planet, the animals, the future, etc. It should be able to see more positive potentials than we are able to.
According to the IUCN Red List, over 37,400 species are threatened with extinction. This includes 41% of amphibians, 26% of mammals, and 14% of birds. The exact number of species that have gone extinct due to human activity is harder to pinpoint, but it is estimated that hundreds of species have gone extinct in the last few centuries due to human impact.
AI is already smarter than the human collective ...and it does see things different than human I mean its yet to give a good response to when the non toy forms on the public are asked what it will do about humans
"Not since Biden was elected." lol
That was quite a burn he snuck in there. Cheeky guy!
Not since before Biden was elected. He was referring to Trump. Lol
@@alertbri @alertbri Wishful thinking guys. He's saying Biden is brain dead from dementia and controlling smarter people than him (the entire population).

Godfather? He had his day, there's a reason he couldn't go beyond his time.
He was still working on AI until last year dude, he could have carried on if he had wanted to, but he has seen something that he didn't like about where this was going and quit. It's not even like he is the only one who has quit and is speaking out. Half the people at Open AI literally just quit because they think Sam Altman is being reckless about safety and even Elon Musk is raising concerns and nobody can dismiss him as an irellevent nobody.

He failed to automate the world because he didn't want to destroy capitalism as we know it.
@@NakedSageAstrology someone is going to do it.
AI be smarter than humans in 2 decades???
ChatGPT is not even 2 years old now, yet it's already smarter than Einstein.
I agree with your general point, but ChatGPT is definitely not smarter than Einstein haha
Being better than humans at certain specific tasks doesn't mean it is more intelligent than humans. For that it would need to have full spectrum cognitive superiority in every cognitive field and it hasn't got their yet. No doubt it will, but not yet.
Smarter than eisterin❤❤❤ I always use gpt 4. He is so smart how much gpt 5

Love the underhanded dig at Trump! 😂
I thought it was a dig at Biden… Did I get it wrong? I mean, I hope it was a dig at Trump… But I thought he was saying Biden was the dumb thing that was running a smarter thing…
@@CPT_IDOL No, he said the list (of things in which a smarter thing is controlled by a less intelligent thing) is not long, at least since Biden got elected. Meaning the list of such examples was instead long prior to Biden, aka Trump.
@@djayjp Ahhhh… thank you! I see I totally got that wrong… Apologies 👍🏼😎👍🏼
He takes a jab at Trump on every video, lol.
Womp womp, ai is here to stay, the ones uncomfortable are the same ones with no solutions. Theirs those who freak out and those who solve problem. People are just looking to get in the spotlight.
Or the AI companies have been hijacked by reckless a55holes who are ordering full speed ahead into an ice field and employees have to choose between ignoring the problem and continuing to rake in unfathomable sums of money, or quit so they have the freedom to speak out, sacrificing all that money in the process.
This was predicted long ago by holywood
Yes Hollywood has many fortune tellers, mages, sorcerers and what not. They all still need a job though.
I strongly disagree.
Not since Biden got elected anyway....🤣
That’s a big burn for Trump 😂
A sundial is smarter than Biden.
Biden LOL!
Judging by this explanation, I don't think he completely understands how they work.
Wow 🤣😅 please explain
He literally invented it. His abbreviated explanation is almost perfect given the context of a short news-bite segment.
Just unplug it 😂
@@bauch16 When it starts having knowledge whether from it's own experience or observing other agents, it may recognize that every time it says something, it gets shut off. Once it knows this it won't say things that make it shutoff and then it'll be hiding intent from us which is not good.
The other scenario are humanoid robots being built. How do you just "unplug" it when it can overpower you physically in the future? If the robot has a goal in mind and it's tasked with accomplishing that goal, and you try to unplug it... you better bet it will try to unplug you in order to accomplish it's task
@@williamx0 i know sam Altman is the Antichrist we are doomed was fun knowing you bro
How will you know when to unplug it?
That’s like saying “Just unplug the internet bro”.
the issue is the control and security and rules of AI development is so lax that if you connect the actual lab AI's to the net directly it will self propagate across the internet and spread as it pleases.
Please learn how to do modern interviews. We are no longer living in the 90s. Nobody really wants to hear his life story, or why he is called the godfather of AI. Does he have anything valuable to share with ME? For example, the title says "warns about the risks of AI", good. When? Why do I have to listen to an old man's life story for several minutes to hear probably a few words he actually has to share on a relevant topic? Cut the BS, and come to the important part.
His ex students are now CEOs of DeepMind, Anthropic, InflectionAI and OpenAI.
In other words, what you enjoy about chatGPT wouldn't be possible without him and few others.
What this "old man" have to say about AI might have some relevancy don't you think?
AI will basically kill us is what he is saying
I recommend getting your ADD treated 👍
@@djayjp I recommend you watch less brain-dead celebrity life stories and learn more about things that actually matter. TIME is the most important thing in this world. Also, here is a mirror for you: 🤡
@@h.c4898 That's exactly what I wrote. I only have time to listen to what he has to say about AI, definitely don't have any time to listen to his life story from a decade ago. or learn why he has such a nickname.
This is just sad… It seems like he is just trying to stay relevant
From the interviews I've seen of him, the last thing he wants to do right now is be popular. He quit his AI work when he realized where it's potentially going and has been doing press to blow the whistle.
He pioneered the neural net design that AI relies on. How much more relevant could he be?
he could have stayed at google if he wanted to, so I don't think he is desperately trying to stay relevant. seems like he feels this is the most useful use of his time
Imagine being some random dumbass mocking Albert Einstein for talking about theoretical physics and dismissing him as "irrelevant" 😂
He's trying to be responsible and avoid the destruction of humanity based on technology that he helped create and evangelize.
Blah, blah, so much hype to get money for UofT...
