Thank you for this video! I fought with this for hours yesterday watching another video and got so frustrated. I’m a crocheter and I’ve wanted to learn knitting for a while. I’m going to keep trying. My loops just slip right off my needles so your method of holding the loops will hopefully help me stop that. Thank you again! Great explanations and visuals!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! Stick with it - I promise you’ll get the hang of it. Don’t put any pressure on yourself. You’ll be amazed what you can do!
Thank you, Leigh! I have so many other videos to make (but so little time!). Promise to get at least the purl stitch up in the next few weeks. Get knitting!!
bless you truly. im trying to make a hat for my daughter as my first knitting project and ive watched so many videos for leftiies and they are going so fast that even with the playback slpwed down to .25 it was not helping. this is the first video i. could see clearly and see what im doing now. so i feel a lot better now i can stop crying.
First of all, thank you so much for some well explained knitting tutorials for us lefty’s 😁 I was wonder/hoping if you could do one on purling when knitting continental style. I’m trying to teach my self this style, I’ve been kitting the European style for years but I’ve always found my hands get cramped after a bit so I’m trying the continental style to see if the cramping goes away. Again, thank you very much for these videos!!!
This is the best leftie beginner video I have found on RUclips! Thank you! I need some advice though…when the time comes to “wrap the yarn around”, I can never remember from which direction to wrap it and tend to get it backwards. Any tips on an easy way to remember which way to wrap the yarn? Thanks in advance!😊😊😊😊
These videos are great. Very clear! I am a right handed continental knitter and my left handed son would like to learn how to knit. I know lefties who knit right handed so I’m not sure if it’s crucial to learn left handed but I’m going to help him try this way and see how he likes it. My only hesitation is that I am not sure if I will be able to help him problem solve as well since I am right handed. We’ll see. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed the video! How about this - why don't you and your son watch these together, so you can pause as you need to make sure you're doing each step by step properly (whatever that means!!). I've got a whole list of future videos to make - starting with purling - but real life keeps getting in the way. More to come!!
I would try teaching him right handed first. My kids are right handed and I taught them all to crochet left handed. That way I could help when they ran into trouble.
I can do that! Maybe later today once we’re done clearing away the snow. If you haven’t already, hit ‘subscribe’ on the channel so you get an alert when I’ve uploaded it. I promise, fixing a dropped purl stitch isn’t scary, and it’s very satisfying once you’ve got it down!
What I’m finding hard to do is hold the yarn in my right hand. I need to find a way to hold it in my left hand. This video is a little confusing to me.

Finally, a great example and more than one row of work. I knit as a lefty, but have thrown my yarn. I think I can try because you are a great teacher!

How to make another row after the first one?
I do this on one way and then English on the way back and I can do knit stitch endlessly lol.
I do that, too, sometimes! Anything not to purl :)
I'm a leftie, but I'm finding this very confusing
Actual knit stitch starts at 4:58
Now I need a tutorial on what to do when I drop a stitch.
