With a city of that size and that large of a population it's always going to have these issues, but even in this Covid environment and crappy economy, NYC is far better off than it was in the past. Even after 9/11, New York continues to thrive and the citizens are all heart, never give up, never say die. Tourism, the fashion industry, music, the arts, television and movies, professional sports and that edgy dark side, New York is wanting for nothing and for the people who love the hustle and bustle of the big city, they are never left disappointed! Yes, a big part of the underworld culture has changed, but it was only in that brief period where the big players in organized crime were so well known and out there to the people. Now the groups that survived have somewhat learned their lesson and have gone back to operating behind the shadows again. The only big thing from that era that happened that was so interesting and so unprecedented was that the world got a peak behind the curtain, largely thanks to John Gotti (he was great for the curious public, not so much for the secretive society that depended on that secrecy to thrive and survive). But today, even though the smart ones have learned to try and resist the spotlight, the internet and technology (much in the hands of law enforcement) makes that pretty near impossible to do. Yet try to come up with the names of the biggest players in the Chinese organized crime factions. Some will be able to say their names, but definitely not the general public, who pretty much all know who John Gotti and Sammy "the bull" are.

I've only listened into this about 2 minutes. What I like right away is how Sammy is genuine, meaning... He doesn't throw out all these facts about Appalachian and all these details that are usually read elsewhere and restated. I can tell right away that he's speaking off of his experience of what he's learned. He almost says it like not too many people know about Appalachian. I don't know I just seems genuine the way he presented it. He didn't even state what it's called. Or state it by name, I should say.

Listening to Sammy teaching us about the history of the Mafia is like listening to a history Professor teaching about the American Civil War. He talks in a way that makes the student want more. And as far as his story telling....it is over the edge. He tells it the way it happened, no bones added. And most importantly, Sammy doesn't transform himself into the center of the story, bragging about what he did, how he did nothing wrong, and transforming himself into the Super Mafios like too many other former mob guys do. Sammy is the Best. End of story. He mentioned more than once it was said by others that they didn't like how, even as an upper ranking member, he would go out in the street and get his hands dirty. That is the sign of a top notch leader of men. That showed those under him that even though he was in the upper ranks, He was still one of them and he was not below carrying out orders he gave to others. Another sign of a great and successful leader. And it seems like even today, after being out of the life, all these years, he is still that kind of man. 'Employee', 'manager/boss', 'friend' or 'enemy's, he was/is as solid as they come. I'm not trying to glorify the crimes or right the wrongs Sammy committed, I am just saying, that he was and still is the type of person I would be loyal and proud to work for, and call my friend. Thank you for another awesome video and we shall see you in the next one!!!

I’ve watched every video that Sammy has made (including Mafia States)… I find him a complete enigma which is why can’t help but watch.. as he is a great story teller and has a good sense of humour, I can imagine the laughs & ball busting he’d have with his crew & friends.. He has morals from how he was brought up, he recognises good from bad… but at the same time I think he could take you out in a flash with no remorse (not really sure) I believe in change, I think he is on a journey.. I’m not sure he is truly sorry for the life as he likes to justify his actions. Whatever I think, I can’t help but watch and like him

I watched Mafia states of America, and tbh at the start I thought Sammy is still the old school mafioso, he did not change! but the more episodes I watched the more I came to realize, that this is one of the few people I ever saw who is standing so fiercely with them self and what he believes in. Sammy believes in honor, (self) respect, truth and loyalty. It was an honor too watch it, and I believe that you are a changed man, and changed without betraying yourself and your believes. Respect.

Hey Sammy I've been following your RUclips channel and podcast from the beginning. You're a Very compelling storyteller. I'm also a big fan of the HBO movie John Gotti staring Ahmad Assante. Let me start by apologizing for my long winded comments but I think it is warranted There are a lot of historians that say Chicago was the most powerful family in the country. Other than Sam Giancana the bosses in Chicago went to extreme lengths to stay under the radar which is why other than the “Family Secrets” case about 15 years ago there hasn’t been any large federal cases against Chicago before or after that. Carlo Gambino‘s Fly below the radar approach was much like Chicago‘s. Here are a few other reasons to support the Chicago opinion. During the Las Vegas Casino explosion, anybody that wanted a loan from the Teamsters had to go through Dorfman in Chicago who was controlled by the outfit. The Outfit had such a stranglehold on Chicago which trickled down to Springfield which controlled the senators and congressmen which opened doors politicians in Nevada and California (Hollywood), they were heavily involved in Hollywood back in the day. Look into a guy named Johnny Roselli a bit. Why do you think Joe Kennedy needed Chicago (Sam Giancana) more than any other family in the country to help to get his son elected. This is one reason why New York got so heavy into dealing heroin and other drugs because it was a big moneymaker and Chicago had most of the country, at least the western US locked down. And let’s face it if you can control the unions on a national scale not just local, control the movie business and have a large hand in casinos in Vegas, why would you risk getting involved in drugs. Chicago was definitely a lot more sophisticated. A lot of the guys in New York were very heavy into dealing drugs which any knuckle dragger is capable of doing. Don’t get me wrong New York was involved with Wall Street fraud, high rise construction and things like that but Chicago‘s arm reached a lot deeper into politics and nation wide influence.
Sorry about the redundancy in my Comments and what Sammy talked about in the second half of the video. I started typing my comment before he got there.

Some truth to it? I mean… this is a widely known thing that happened. It’s not some urban legend. Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant because that doesn’t change the fact that it happened.
@@The10mmcure I was saying it’s a story that’s been told a lot in Mafia circles. Look at JFK case, look at the death of Marilyn Monroe none are attributed to the Mafia, not officially anyway. Sonny Franzese, Sam Giancana even Gianni Russo all said they had relationships with Monroe, then there’s the stuff with the Kennedy’s she must have been a busy woman.
@@Ryno87 Officially JFK wasn't shot from the front and now 60 years later we have a mental patient that escaped from the old folks home as a president. Officially lol
@@Ryno87 lol, Gianni Russo. 😂
I was about to lay down and watch an old episode and literally got this episodes notification 😌 thanks Sammy and team 💯
Me and u both 🤝🏾🤝🏾😂😂😂💯💯
Another great story! People don't understand whether you like Sammy or not the stories that he tells us every week is nothing but gold. The guy has been through hell and Back and he has a wealth of knowledge in his head. God bless you and your family. I can't wait for episode 7.🙏✌
I've never heard anybody tell a story like Sammy does you feel like you're there incredible like it or not he tells it like it is like it was and you can just picture the whole thing and kind of live it with him best storyteller the truth I ever heard
Thank you Sammy the bull
You're welcome Mr Gravano just being honest and thank you

Thank you Mr Gravano!!!
You NEVER disappoint!!!

Amazing storyteller Sammy is. I'm literally hanging on his every word.
Happy New Year from Scotland Sammy.Never miss a video or Podcast. You hav changed the game mate.Nothing but respect 🙏🏻
I can't stop! Sammy the way you relive your past, we can almost see what you are saying. I am hooked and have been binge watching.
God love you Sammy! You're the real deal! The boss of today! If everyone doesn't know, Sammy the bull is more "COSA nostra" than anyone...
Sammy you are the greatest story teller in the history of RUclips you actually relive all the scenarios of your past life. Great job keep doing what you are doing and I will always support you anyway that I can.
You are an inspiration Sammy. Love hearing your stories and perspectives.
-Tommy in Boston
AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR PAINTING PICTURES WITH WORDS, BROTHER SAMMY.
God damn what an ending…. I can’t till the next one. These never disappoint
I don’t think I could possibly choose my favourite one episode - that would be an impossible task, they are all equally great.
Now this a perfect way to bring in the new year.
You were not the shield, you were the knife. The shield smiles until it is bent out of shape, the knife bites until the work is done and is allowed to smile.
Now is your time to smile, never stop smiling Sammy. Happy New Year from your regular outsider in NZ.
Right on time!!!
I have never been first for a video before either. I was watching reruns of our thing and this popped up at 2 am. Nooooice
Thank you Sammy for another amazing podcast. There's so few gangsters left from that era that could share their experiences, but no one could tell it like they lived it like you Sammy. I'd love to actually meet you and maybe grab some lunch. Lol. Anyways keep the great work. You're awesome. God Bless! 😎
I really enjoy listening to his stories.
Much love from Philly Sammy. Happy new year!!!
I’m up at 3:33 eastern time way to happy to see this episode ❗️ I love these episodes and you to Sammy👍🏿
Thank you so much Sammy! Nothing but Love & Respect!! This video made me so happy! I loved hearing about the other families that I did not know about. Please keep it coming and hope your doing great Sammy! We all love you! Truly a LIVING LEGEND!!!!!!
@@flashinthepan3273 yupp " steady on " 🤣
@@flashinthepan3273 lol
Well Sammy downplayed how powerful the Outfit actually was! Chicago, Kansas City, and Milwaukee were the families that owned Vegas and the skim. New York and New Jersey and Philly had Atlantic City.
@@flashinthepan3273 - There is way more to it than that, but it's a start.
@@flashinthepan3273 - Were you a Coffee With Collotta sub when he was still alive? He had some great stories! Now that he died, the guy running it changed the name to Mob Vlogs and it sucks.
He’s very smart with his choice of words. I Learn so much from Sammy.
Sammy is 100% legit. Before John made him 'dress up' to look the part Sammy would be dressed down , low key exactly like he said. No BS. Sammy to you a Happy Healthy New Year!
Was it only John he ratted on then?
No
@@paulholland1641 then he is full of shit
@@miguelmarrero6760 most likely I don't believe a lot of stuff that comes out of his mouth anyway
The volume is much better on these podcast Sammy, I can hear you a lot better, thankx for sharing Sammy
Great Podcast! 🎉 Happy New Year 2022 to you and your family. 🥰
I just LOVE this guy,, he reminds me of my Grandfather.
Who could have foreseen "Sammy the Bull" would end up being the modern day historian for the American Moffia. I willing to bet not one person, especially after the mess with the E in Arizona.
Life's a trip my friends. Ya just don't freaking know so keeping on trucking cause the world keeps turning.
As always great episode!! Thanks Sammy for sharing your life and experiences. I truly appreciate it and have always had an interest for Cosa Nostra. I was born and raised in upstate NY and still live in the Catskills. If you know and can tell any stories about upstate, the Catskills, I’d love to hear about them. Thanks again , take care, stay safe and healthy!
Best series out. Always a good time listening to your stories
Wishing you and the crew a happy new year and hoping you’re considering a major motion picture production about these stories…what an amazing movie that would be!
So True
Or a mini series lime they did with band of brothers. That would be awesome.
***NEWS FLASH*** It doesn’t get any better than this!! There isn’t a movie studio or a director who can recreate this for a billion dollars any better than we are in our mind. We can’t be greedy we only need to relax, free our mind and absorb these great stories!!!
Movies. We need movies not just a movie
@@JohnC-er3rg I Gotta Agree with You. Sammy Doesn't Bullshit. Sammy is Honest to a Tee. This is amazing, that I am listening to the Former Underboss of the Gambino Family on my $ 75. Dollar Phone on youtube and Sammy is so well spoken. This is Great To Learn about how things work in " The Life"
I listen to these everynight before bed thanks Sammy
Thanks for listening, glad you like them!!
He wouldn't be loyal to you. "He doesn't brag."? LMAO!! He's very narcissistic. You're very naive to believe all that you wrote.
Happy New Year Compare. May you and your family have many blessings, Sammy.
I’ve never missed an episode, and they keep getting better every time. And please keep em coming, eh 🇨🇦. Thank you and your teambformaking these videos. Happy New Year Sammy 👍
You’re stories are so interesting! Thank you for doing this. ❤️
Thank you Sammy, you just explained the events of the Irishman more clearly than the actual 3 1/2 hour movie did, I now understand what happened there with the Kennedys, thank you very much
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM LITHUANIA, SAMMY! Wish you all the best!!
I wonder if Sammy actually reads all these comments!?!? That would be super cool if he actually replied to everyone. He’s an amazing storyteller 👌
Thank you so much!
Sammy telling this history and these stories like a boss
Great story Sammy. Can't wait to hear how it plays out. Happy New Year, to you and your family Sammy. Salute!!
2024. We need more stories like this Sammy n one for Mr.Neil pls
The way he tells this story I almost felt like I was Bobby….”hold on Sammy don’t rush me ima get it him!” 🤣🤣🤣
Blessings in the New Year.🙏🔥💫
Damn that ending though!!! 😯 Keep the great stories coming Mr Gravano.
Makes Fridays better watch these while drinking my coffee. Thank you Sammy.
I’ve watched every video that Sammy has made (including Mafia States)… I find him a complete enigma which is why can’t help but watch.. as he is a great story teller and has a good sense of humour, I can imagine the laughs & ball busting he’d have with his crew & friends..
He has morals from how he was brought up, he recognises good from bad… but at the same time I think he could take you out in a flash with no remorse (not really sure)
I believe in change, I think he is on a journey.. I’m not sure he is truly sorry for the life as he likes to justify his actions.
Whatever I think, I can’t help but watch and like him
As far as content on Mob related topics he’s as good as it gets… never before had a prior underboss started a podcast explaining his life.
How do you feel about your time?
My favorite podcast! I’m still amazed this shit is free ! With love from Jersey!
I just got home from work an hour ago and doing some cleaning with this playing in the backround and holy balls its Over already 🤣, cleaning stoves, microwave, counters and mopping the floor never went so quick 🤣 🤣 🤣, Great video as always, Happy New year Sammy From staten Island
Sammy, simply the best. You create a movie in my mind every time. Happy New Years to you and your team.
Love how you mixed up the content this time around. Your stories are always great, but it was cool you mixed it up this time around. 👍👍 Looking forward to the next one. Happy New Year Sammy!!
Want to hear everything especially the way sammy talks and the way the whole vibe almost always commands respect so naturally that you have to listen and pay attention to every single word!
Fuck yea good thing I didn’t fall asleep yet
I watched Mafia states of America, and tbh at the start I thought Sammy is still the old school mafioso, he did not change! but the more episodes I watched the more I came to realize, that this is one of the few people I ever saw who is standing so fiercely with them self and what he believes in. Sammy believes in honor, (self) respect, truth and loyalty. It was an honor too watch it, and I believe that you are a changed man, and changed without betraying yourself and your believes. Respect.
Yes! Its friday already-1:00am here and Im awake. Now I can sleep watching this! Thanks Salvatore Sammy!
As always 🙏 ☝️
PS: Sammy talking fact here. My dad would be 105 today and this all sounds familiar. Chicago back in the day would say syndicate. When I heard syndicate I knew it was Mafia. Anytime I was introduced as a young girl to someone my dad knew, I knew they were in the syndicate because they were the only ones who would kiss my hand, give me a wink of the eye. And I knew. Perfect gentleman. My dad was not in the syndicate, he just knew guys.
Sammy you are a true legend
Hey Sammy I've been following your RUclips channel and podcast from the beginning. You're a Very compelling storyteller.
I'm also a big fan of the HBO movie John Gotti staring Ahmad Assante. Have you ever seen it?
How much of that movie was spot on and how much was BS?
& William Forsythe was Very convincing; but what did you think about his portrayal of Sammy the Bull?
& Did HBO have to contact you
Massive thanks for the last year of quality videos.
Love you guys!!!! 😎

Sammy I love 💘 the Telling of your Stories on Costra Nostra, it's as if I'm right along with you in the action, you were a "Friend OF Theirs" But Now you are a "Friend OF Ours"...This is "Our Thing"... "I gonna get the papers" "get the papers"...Thank you 😉🎇
The mafia is like the ocean floor, we only know 10% of what really goes on. The insane way he recalls it like it happened hours ago.
Nobody better than Sammy the Bull!
Let me start by apologizing for my long winded comments but I think it is warranted
There are a lot of historians that say Chicago was the most powerful family in the country.
When Lucky Luciano restructured the Commission back in 1931...there was 7 seats on the Commission.....The Five New York Borgatas....Buffalo and Chicago. Then around 1959/1960 Detroit and Philadelphia was added onto the Commission.
