Anyone can kit themselves out in expensive outdoor brand clothing for basically no money when buying second hand on places like Vinted, eBay, local ads etc. all my hiking gear is second hand and I paid decathlon prices in basically everything.
Exactly what I did. Jacket £260 new paid £80 and it looked unused. Had loads off vinted lately. Love it since I found out about it from one of my sons friends dad's at the school gate.

Think I'd prefer the sleet to constantly rain down here. That was the only night of no (or very little at least) rain we've had in months. Crap weather. At least you do see some snow 😂

And that was with the poles in. I would take them out and use a compression sack. Would be even smaller then. I always put the poles in my side pocket so I can squash the the tent properly inside my pack 👌

@christopherwfrancis yes but I meant the carbon end poles that come with the tent. I took them out when I packed it away.

Those little end poles make a world of difference for interior space. I really like it.
Yes it totally changes the tent. The room inside feel incredible for such a small footprint 👍
Having a 4 season/solid inner makes so much difference even on a 3 season tent because spring and autumn can be pretty chilly.ive just got a new trekking pole tent and opted for the solid inner.but it's good to see manufacturers thinking what works and those little things make a big difference
I think once they realise the market in the uk for this tent they will bring out a more solid inner. They are already taking my feedback into their next designs 👌👍
My Lanny 2 Pro has the 4 season inner, and I'm glad it does. I can always open up the doors for venting in summer, or sleep with a lighter bag.
Exactly. Specially in the uk. Problem is most of these tents are designed for other countries and our weather just isn't suitable.

looks good, although i really wish that it had mesh connecting the fly and bathtub so condensation doesnt drip/flow down into the bathtub.
If you open the air vents thus gives the same effect but also allows you to close one or both off if needed.
Looks awesome! ...but that vestibule doors are really up above the floor and letting way too much cold air as you said, also your gear lying there would get wet when rainy+windy and being here in Scotland is a deal breaker for me. On my multi day thru hikes here sometimes I need to bolt my tent close to the floor like X-Mid for example when I was cough in 30-50mph winds doing Rob Roy Way last month...also would love to see at least half solid inner and not full mesh. Otherwise its seems really cool with big potential and kinda fancy having it!
I've never found the rain get in under my lanshan doors and they sit higher than this one but you can also lower the poles to decrease the wind/rain coming in. Unlike the Lanshan though you can open the foot and head ends to increase airflow so you don't get too much condensation. That's why I love this tent. They've thought of everything. 👌👍
definitely is a nice tent and being tall myself its hard to find one you're happy with. i tend to avoid 3 season inners but i can see this ones got less mesh and doesnt have the daft mesh airflows that lanshans do. definitely a consideration if they get a uk base sorted. maybe if they send a bundle over to colin and see how it goes? but a uk amazon would definitely help sales

Great tent design i alwars thought thr lanshan needed some prop poles at the end. Doors look good two way zippers and t doors inner and good tie backs for them, great pockets. My only issue its too high off the floor the fly and it could do with half mesh on the inner side panels and the bottom half solid. It would be the ideal tent then it it was a fair price and easy availability in the UK
I don't think the gap under the doors is too bad. May nit show that well in the video but its less than the Lanshan. Obviously you could lower the poles to reduce this as there's tons of headroom to allow it. I've also fed back my thoughts on a solid lower half for the inner and they are looking into it 👍

It's a Tarptent Dipole copy.
Not really a copy. It has similar head and foot ends but the shape is different. More like the lanshan with raised ends and its a lot smaller footprint than the dipole. I've used one before and tbh I didn't like the material plus its a darn site more expensive
@NoviceWildCamper fundamentally it's closer to the Dipole geometric shape, just with altered vestibules. Yes it's cheaper because the Dipole 2 is DCF. I'm also not a fan of DCF. If Tarptent made a 2p version in silnylon (they do make a 1p double wall) it wouldn't be much more expensive that this and the quality with tarptent is extremely high. Just speaking from my own experience.

Be interesting to see how you get on. Im after a tent for my wife, but am wary of the lanshan in winds on Dartmoor.
I think this will stand better than the lasnhan due to the guy out lines positioning. The centre one on the Lanshan is a known weak point. I will continue testing it though 👍

I was always against single skin, mainly because I virtually touch the ends of all tents and woukd need to cover my quilt but there's just so much room in here for me it's no issue at all. 👌
This tent looks better(in wind) than my Anaris, I must admit.

A good tent if you are well over 6ft tall.

@TimmyBobinson I do too sometimes but also on my front so with my feet pointing down I'm longer by another few inches which doesn't help
Not for that price. And the lanshan is time tested. This one has just been given free to a bunch of RUclipsrs to give reviews on, much like the Vern 1 was a bit ago. Total YT saturation.
Same as the Lanshan was when that came out. Everyone reviewed it. I've only seen one on this tent before mine but even so, the Lanshan may be time tested but doesn't make it better. This will also be time tested by me and others. Just because its new doesn't make it bad. And yes as I said it's more expensive but made by one guy not a massive Chinese company plus you get carbon poles, carbon pegs and a load more space and spec for that money 🤷🏼♂️ you get what you pay for. At the end of the day I own a Lanshan and love it. It's served me well but also broke once at the rams hooks like they all do in wind. And, I've also seen them rip open in high winds too so they're not perfect either. This just gives another option to people out there and to be able to say one is better or worse than the other, you have to experience them both 👍.

Just been looking and it says its water rating is 1500mm?! If this is true then basically it's a summer tent. Also what is the condensation issue like?
I did note the condensation was fine and rbh 1500mm is not unheard of in many high end tents. I wouldn't be concerned about it as people often get a bit obsessed about HH. Tents are either waterproof or not and 99% of the time you'll only ever see a leak at the seams.
Better than Xmid?
Tough one. Certainly better for space as I only have the 1p but my xmid is two layer and this is one so not really comparable however, if I had a choice for summer camping, it would probably be this one. And I love my xmid so this says a lot 👍
Too expensive when compared to the price of a Lanshan 2, for nothing extra I really need. Sure it's a nice product but on their website they show a 70% off deal with no way of claiming it, that seems a bit dishonest to me.
It is more expensive but when you consider its made by one guy (not a Chinese factory) and includes carbon fibre poles and carbon fibre pegs the cost is always going to be higher but the spec is also better. Combine that with the space that, let's face it, everyone likes more space then its a serious alternative. I will ask him about the discount on the website as it may be aimed at one particular product and badly worded though. Thanks for watching.

I wouldnt reccomend a 1500MM HH tent for any UK camping unless only using in the sun. It will not stand up to UK weather for long periods with such a low HH, 1500MM is usually only seen on cheap single skin tents, I would not trust. Thanks for the review tho.
1500mm HH means it can withstand 1.5m of water pressure before leaking. You're not likely to get that in any country. The HH is a very overrated measurement and everyone wants the highest but its not necessary. Its more likely to leak at the seams than through the material.
@@NoviceWildCamper Being from Scotland, perhaps my experiances are different from those in drier parts of the UK lol. However just comparing the Lanshan as you have in your video, The Lanshan is NOT single skin, its a mesh inner with a 5000MM outer and a 6000MM bathtub, It sells for £139 vs £209 for this which IS a single skin, has only 1500MM outer and they dont even advertise what the bathtub is, if the bathtub is higher it may be OK for a few nights, but condensation will be bad either way.
Sorry buddy but you're wrong. I compare this to the Lanshan PRO. Which is a single skin tent and has a 2000mm HH not 5000. Yes the floor is thicker on the Lanshan and I noted that on this video the floor was the same thickness as the tent and in regard to price, I also said its more expensive, but it also has way more space yet a smaller footprint, carbon fibre poles and carbon fibre pegs which are in that price so of course it is more expensive. The main difference is space and spec. Way higher than the lanshan pro and worth the extra in my mind. I only just squeeze into the lanshan whereas this is palatial.

@@NoviceWildCamper That is indeed my bad comparing and speaking on the lanshan 2 classic. I actually had not looked at the updated 2021 lanshan pro, and personally would not buy this either for all the same reasons i listed against this tent, single skin tents with less than 2000MM just dont take the beating here in scotland from my experiance. Ive had many single skin tents over the years and yet to find a good one. If i got sent this tent for free then sure id give it a try, but if asked which i would spend my £200 bucks on id choose the classic, but if forced to choose between the lanshan pro vs this then id probably still go with the pro, mainly due to knowing the bathtub is rated to 6000MM even on the pro, and 2000MM vs 1500MM might be the difference between a wet or dry night here in scotland. Perhaps you can test it in heavy rain and change my mind lol

Not really. Just means you have to do the middle zip first or put your hand at the bottom. They're taking it on board though and fixing it.

@@NoviceWildCamper 90% of low end and big name brand ones are. Sags and stretches badly when wet, hold water and gets heavier to carry until you can fully dry it out. I’ll never buy another Silnylon tent
@danfascia so you buy a heavier bulkier polyester tent or spend £600 on a dcf that's noisy and see through ? I've used nothing but syl nylon for years. Never been an issue. Yes if it gets wet you might need to tighten it but the pros far outweigh the cons

Shaped a lot like my Dipole, especially at the foot and the head, along with the vents...... Don't get your "peg" caught in your zipper! Cheers!!

Bought this one. It’s as you described. Having used it for 6 nights in the Adirondack Mountains including a night in torrential downpours I will say I’m very happy with it.

Interesting option! Lanshan does look a bit pale compared to that, but what about the Asta Gear which is also a cheap-ish tent, a copy of the Durston XMid? Also the Naturehike Tagar 2 is 1.3kg, it's much cheaper and semi freestanding. And then the Gossamer Gear Two which is 20-30% more expensive but much lighter.
I have the asta gear and tested it in another video. It's double skinned so not as comparable and needs seam sealing. It's not as spacious as this and I found it was a bit flappy but still a good budget tent. The tagar is nearer 1.6kg for the 2p and although in theory the same length, it isn't as it tapers at each end so I wouldn't fit in it plus it's nowhere near as tall so feels a lot less spacious. All I could say about the gossamer gear is I've seen a lot of bad reviews about them in bad weather. Obviously time will tell with this tent so can't really compare. There will always be other options out there close to the price, weight and size of this but this is seriously one of the most impressive designs and feature packed tents I've had 👌

Definitely but the Loary had an issue hence I didn't do the full review post and theyre fixing it so I'm giving them the chance before I put it out.
I had a good look around one the other week. Some great ideas have gone into this tent.

With just 1500 hh rating, id like to see how it performs in heavy rain, as 1500 is the starting point for it to be considered waterproof. Nice looking tent though.

Like it well thought out for sure esp the vents , will it sell over Pro im not sure as the market has moved back to the standard model Lanshan for the last year and a half , but saying that I’ve dropped them a email let’s see , nice one 👍

Cloud Peak 2 would probably be a better shout assuming you can fit ok in it (bit tight for me) as being a 3 poled set up probably better in wind and bad rain specially Scotland. 👍

As a self-modification would it be possible to glue a small loop to attach to the walking pole on the outside of the tent floor?
Possibly yes. It would need to be that strong but a way of stitching without causing waterproof issues would work better I think.

Are the carbon fiber end poles permanently affixed? Or are they removable allowing the tent to be packed away in a small stuff sack?
Removable. I've already taken them out for easier packing 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper I was hoping that was the case - I've had several great tents that I never used because the end struts were permanently attached. I'll give the Matis a go. I do like the Asta Gear, but it's a bit fiddly since it's not properly squared like the XMid. Thanks again for the info and quick response!

Static performance is good, but in the UK, the condensation and wind resistance may not be good. Strong winds will constantly slap the windows on both sides, and the wind ropes will loosen and make noise.
What makes you say that?
@@NoviceWildCamper After using it a few times, I negotiated a return. There were some minor issues that I couldn't agree with.

I’m 6`4 pushing 6`5 and have zero issues with my lanshan1 especially with the 3 guy outs staked out which gives plenty more room
I have the 1 plus (assuming you've got the larger plus version) and same, I use carbon pole in the middle and trekking poles to pull the ends out and up but this thing is vast in comparions yet takes up less space than a Lanshan 2

Be interesting to know what you're comparing it to weight wise.
Lanshan 2 pro is 1050g with pegs and bag. This is 150g more. Negligible for such an increase in size and spec. Without spending 3 times as much on a DCF tent this is as light as it comes.

@@NoviceWildCamper Both I would say. I prefer a smaller footprint because it gives me more pitching options and I am always looking to save weight. I never buy anything new unless it’s lighter in weight than what I already have. A light weight rule of mine.
