It definitely helps to speak Thai. Moving out of Asok (and other Farang-trap) areas and living in Thai suburbia will give you a crash course in Thai language. Good video, subscribed.
I lived in an apartment for a year and it was cheap but there were no amenities to speak of. most of these apartments are located outside the city proper, for example, near Chinatown or close to Sathorn pier where i used to live. many of them have little to no furniture and some don't even have hot water and yes, they are mainly occupied by Thais bc they are so much cheaper than condo's
Hi Rob, great information. I have seen a lot of videos about condos and apartmens and so far only one that showed a building that has shops/stores in the first floor. Wondering if any of the high risers have stores/shops/grocery store in the first floor or couple of floors? Thank you!
Thanks Rob. When you're looking for apartments on foot, how do you even know what you're looking for? How do you distinguish an apartment from a condo?
Mmmm that's a good question.. usually condos are in prime locations for sure.. BTS and MRT. But that's all down to budget as well and I should have touched a bit more on pricing. Future video I think
For the communication issues, Bangkok specifically, has a ton of agencies that help with translation and also Thai college students who speak English may be willing to help for some quick cash.
Hard to weed out the trolls sorry haha the pasts few days alone I've had countless hours wasted with agents who speak perfect English let alone having to deal with an extra person on top of that. There truly horrible to deal with here. 75% of adverts online are ghost adverts just to get your details
Hi Rob, can you tell something how you stay there for so long? Which visa do you use, are you doing visa-run or sth else? I was 6months in Thai but different covid times so it was possible there on simplest visa, not anymore
To be honest I dont give Visa advice because its a single google search away to find the answer and knowing what Visa somebody else is on doesn't help you in any way what so ever. Theres so many long term Visa's to stay here in Thailand.. your literally 15-20 seconds away from the answer my friend
i know which options are available but I'm seeing you for long time there so I'm just curious which one are you using ;-) I am software developer (php + react) so I worked remotely when I was in Thailand with my family, but we wanna come back and stay longer this time, so that's why I'm asking because maybe I missed sth, thanks@@ProjectBangkok
@@pabblo89plmost likely an education one. Most vloggers who aren't on 50+ on retirement visas don't like to talk about it. As technically they are earning money from RUclips that can be deemed as "working" in Thailand which isn't allowed on most visas. So they don't like to disclose too much on RUclips about their visa as you can guess from the vague response like you got.
Rob love your content. As you mentioned not speaking Thai is a disadvantage it's probably a fitting time to mention this. I've been watching your channel for about a year so I wanted to say this ages ago but thought Jeroen or someone would have told you by now but you've got to stop greeting us as a woman; sawadee khrap, not ka.
You're saying ka in every video, I'm just letting you know so you can correct yourself, there's nothing wrong with making mistakes if you're willing to learn from them.
@@ProjectBangkok It was just some friendly advice so you can show respect for the culture, I don't mean any offense. If you listen to Jeroen or a local you'll realise there's a distinct difference in the way you pronounce it.
Very interesting theme for us. But first we want to go to stay there for three months and if we feel lucky we will stay longer there. We think condo is the best way to, you have all facilities. The rooms are smaller, but we think it’s not so important, because you often outside of the room. We will go to Jomtien Rivera or Copacabana. If something have more information to this condos, write us. Thank you Rob, see you next and best wishes Siri and Uwe from Germany
@@ProjectBangkok Yes we will live there. This condo have gym swimming pools and the beach. This have all what we need and the Night Markt is in front of us. Best wishes Siri and Uwe
Agencies are terrible I do not advise it they can fob you off when ever they please in terms of wanting to contact the landlord my agency flat out refuses to communication and also refuse to meet with me (the agency) to discuss the terms and conditions of the contract they also flat out refuse
They honestly make my blood boil!! Hate the whole process from start to finish.. hours and hours and hours of my time wasted every time I move and search
@@ProjectBangkok I’m the same mate, but then I think if everyone is nearly like this it makes me ponder “is the devil I know better than the devil I don’t” 🧐🤔🧐🤔

So I actually tried this a few months ago and had such a poor experience im moving again.. I'll explain more about it in a future video I think
I use the terms interchangeably, wouldn't have known there was a distinction without your video. Thanks 👍🏻
Happy to help! I don't pretend to know everything but try share the little things that I do know as best I can
Can always count on you Rob to give great useful info
I hope it was helpful to at least 1 person. Just try to share my experience so far living here.

Hey Rob thanks for sharing a short but very informative video and for making it so easy to
explain to us the major differences.
Always happy to help Paul! Thanks for watching 🙏
Very informative and helpful as always. Thanks Rob!
Your welcome
Great video. Very helpful. Thanks bro! Keep up the good work.
Appreciate it! Thank you 🙏
Great video, very informative...
Thank you Dion 🙏
Thanks Rob. When you're looking for apartments on foot, how do you even know what you're looking for? How do you distinguish an apartment from a condo?
There's no short answer to this I'm afraid 🙏
Awesome video! Got in, got out and fully informed. Are the locations for apartments much worse than condos you'd say?

Good video subject mate
Much appreciated 🙏
Good to know🙏🙏
I would agree with you on that Mario
My Juristic office staff & maintenance are very good. The owner is Thai and agent are fine. Water 18tb & electricity 4tb are government rates.
Yeah Gov rate is 4 but they add 3 for something else making it 7 haha just to confuse people 😂
What condos do you guys live in? Currently searching

I just google suplai. Seems to be a couple. If you don't mind me asking which neighborhood?

Thankyou for doing this video. I’m just about to start looking for a place to live. This has been most helpful 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Can please do a apartment tour
I can do indeed. What kinda budget?
Great video. ✌
Glad you enjoyed it 😁
I retire to Thailand in September this year and am looking at Bangkok for my first 12-months. I never knew apartments even existed until today 😂
Glad it was helpful! Happy to read this! I didnt know the difference till I moved here
So where do you stay when you are searching for a condo or apartment?
For the communication issues, Bangkok specifically, has a ton of agencies that help with translation and also Thai college students who speak English may be willing to help for some quick cash.
I appreciate the comment and I'm sure it's from the heart but I can also tell that you have never once searched for a condo here 😂
@@ProjectBangkok The idea of hiring someone as a translator also came to my mind. Why is it not a good idea? Just curious 🙂
So you want 4 people involved just to ask if something is available? Haha again... you have never searched for a condo in Thailand 😂
@@ProjectBangkok Of course I haven’t that’s why I asked…😂😂 thanks for the answer
