    Hardtails are fun :) I somewhat prefer my Chromag Rootdown over my Canyon Spectral. I could be biased though... the Rootdown I built up myself... the Spectral was bought pre-built. Keep up the great vids :D

      I don't care what kind of racing you're doing, there's always gonna be people that are a little bit newer and not and are not as comfortable moving fast next to you. Whether it's dirt bikes cars or mountain bikes. It's all amateur stuff so the main goal is to have fun. That being said I kind of wanted to see you kick that guys as you went by.....lol.

    Great video man, love your bike, you're a very smooth rider. I recently built-up a Ritchey Ultra, no expense spared. Feels really dialled, the ride quality is superb, it's very enjoyable to come back to a hard-tail after 25 years of riding.

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  2 года назад +1

      You said it. I feel like I hear this sentiment about hardtails more often from life long riders than I do from people that maybe started a bit later in life. Riding a hardtail is a different experience. Feeling more of the trail, Being precise, and doing more with less. It’s rad.

    • @danielhill9080
      @danielhill9080 2 года назад +1

      @@ShreddingSpree Kick the cranks of a hardtail and you're rewarded with a direct 1:1 power transfer to the rear wheel. Something really special about that, kinda missing from duallies, something I disliked about e-mtb, which is awesome fun at first, but soon feels like a cheap gimmick. My first real mtb was an M2 Stumpy, in the mid 90's, absolutely loved that bike, was super fit, crested all the local climbs astride that thing. Had duallies from then on, but tbh, most were too much bike for the kind of mellow XC/trail riding I enjoy. My first 29er (full rigid Kona Unit) was an absolute revelation, then started riding gravel on a Ti Lynskey. Was talking to a young dude a while back on the trails, had a really nice Niner, sold me on the steel hardtail idea, subsequently built-up a Ritchey Ultra. Spent AU$12k (on a hardtail, rofl); 120mm Pikes, XX1 ASX, Enve AM30's, CC EEWings (best cranks ever), Thomson Ti bars, XT 4 pots, Revive dropper, etc... After a certain expenditure, you're chasing tiny performance gains, but you add all those lil percentages up, and they make a noticeable difference. The supple steel frame, carbon rims, and Cushcore XC, really iron out the harshness, the ride quality's something else. There's an old saying in mtb, "Cheap, strong, light... Pick two." Cheers mate, take it easy.

    I built a hardtail enduro this year and it may be the most fun thing to ride in my opinion. I just wish that the hardtail category for eduros was more popular.

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  2 года назад

      My thoughts exactly, Noah! From what I’ve seen so far, the hardtail class has always been 5 or less riders. I wish more rippers would show up for it. I know there are plenty of talented guys out there riding hardtails but racing enduro on an HT is definitely a niche category because most people that are in it for pure speed will go for the FS bike over the extra challenge. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    You might have said in the other vids with this bike, but what's the rough weight? I bought my second Steel Hardtail at the start of COVID as a bike to use and abuse (yeah, that's how I measure dates and time now... ) an On One Hello Dave, I think it has similar geometry, super long and super slack. I love shredding that thing and it hasn't let me down on any UK trail, really brought me back to my youth of my first Kona and Z1 bombers...

    Would you recommend the Eponym as an all-round enduro mountain bike that can be used from anything to enduro to the more relaxed rides? Or would you recommend something else

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  Год назад

      Yes I would. The nice thing about a hardtail is that even an “enduro ht” will make mellow trails fun and poppy. Plus with the rigid rear end it will rarely ever have that “sled” feeling on climbs or flatter terrain rides. The only time I’ve ever felt “overbiked” is when I’m logging a lot of miles with an XC group that are riding featherlight rigs. But my tire selection has a bit to do with that as well.
