I'm not sure that was a drone. At timestamp 12:58 you see a media bike on the right side of the screen that seems to launch behind Macky down the trail. Also at the end of the take you hear someone say "Good!", which I suppose was the media bike breaking off. Happy to stand corrected though...
Y'all have been doing a great job of making me actually think about my ride nutrition. I still do a bad job, but at least I'm thinking about how bad a job I'm doing.
I would just like to let you know how great the footage is the stabilization and picture quality is fantastic. When you see a front end on of you guys you notice how much the camera bounces about. Top work.
You both are nuts. Being able to descend on technical trails after peaking your heart rate the entire time on those climbs is impressive. Love the content. keep it coming.
Locals have a big advantage on those trails when it comes to knowing what can be rolled easily. There are so many that it adds up. If (when!) you do this race again, the secret to training for this sort of terrain is to spend a week or two in Victoria first. Despite being less than 100km away, it's usually 5C cooler than Crofton/Nanaimo/Cumberland usually. Sooke and Hartland can get you ready for the tech rolls, rooty sections, and punchy climbs.
Hey Syd and Macky. My wife and I recently started Mountainbiking. We found your channel and I just want you to know that we are inspired of what you are doing. Hope you continue uploading videos. New subscriber here :)
I must say I love the new paint job on the Mac Daddy’s bike! Looks so cool on the body cam! Great job pacing yourselves guys. All the best riders are here so not easy at all! Keep up the great riding and keep the PRO tips coming along the way 👍
I'm addicted to these videos! I feel like I'm in the race with you guys, awesome shooting and you both have Mad skills! I just joined your patreon! Stay strong and keep racing!
Great job guys! Really enjoyed watching your efforts! Brought back a lot of (mostly) happy memories for me! Very happy about the courtesy that other riders afforded you when it came to passing!
Hey, just a heads up on the RUclips analytics, I watch your content from 3-5 different Google accounts. Ill make sure they're all subscribed cause that'll help, but multiple accounts might be something to consider in the analytics. You definitely have a loyal fan base 😊
Eeeeeeeasy subscriber. Footage is superb and you two are sharing the goods. Caught a few glimpses of you in Nanaimo and Cumberland on the last day. Looking forward to this.
Amazing riding again both of you! Looked a bit cooler..... dustier though. Follow cam on Macky was the best. Way to place so far on these technical courses. Excellent video today....so exciting to watch...Thankyou! Good luck!
Some of that looks so knarly for an XC race! I struggle with doing things 'blind', I like to see what is going on! Loving how you both just go down the steep twisty bits. I know its because you both have good DH skills 😎😎 Maybe when you have no races you can do some 'how to' videos. Wish I could subscribe a million times x
Awesome seeing my local trails. You two rock! I love Maple on my hardtail, but hate it on the enduro rig. I saw your video preparing for this, and can’t believe what you run for tires. Minions at a minimum for me. Can’t wait to see what you think of Benson tomorrow.
This has got to be the best and craziest tech race. I've watched you both race..Awsome Job🎉🎉🎉 you could just hear the pounding of your bikes were taking...🎉🎉🎉
This is like a Enduro race that also includes being timed on the climb . The only difference no full face helmets and gearing the body up with protection. Amazing to see double black diamonds on a xc course . The world has definitely changed . I think the problem for Mackey the climbers are still around but they have gotten a bit more skillful on the technical decent negating some of Mackey's superior advantage . Still a very well ridden race by both of you and most important quite consistent with the previouse stages . You can't over push your limits . The body will crack .
The video and race performance were awesome - again. Really enjoy watching these. The intro music and edit is really, really good. Do you guys collaborate on that or is one of you the primary editor? Besides the ever popular food prep requests, I'd be interested in a video production inside look. Not a how to but more of a glimpse into your overall process. "Syd makes videos"? [Edit: actually, after I posted that I realized that that might not be a good channel title - sorry! Anyway, hopefully you got the gist...]
Been awesome to watch. Love the format. Also interesting to see Geoff kabush's name near the top still. It's been 23 years I have been watching his name in the top 10 of bc racing. I remember seeing his name in the whistler townie races back in the day.
Such amazing coverage, vlog style and race footage. By chance thats the cockpit headunit set up, wahoo turned landscape with course profile data screen? Great to have each days profile loaded to see climbs, descends etc. Any insight appreciated :)
OH my heck! Macky, see you putting sunscreen on the dome, makes sense, but, how do you keep it from running down into your eyes with sweat and blinding you with the sting?
Such a great video, your video production was great in this video. I really hope you reach your 100k subscribers in the near future. Keep the great videos coming! It will happen!
Man, I've learned alot through following yall. Enough for me to invest in a trial bike and give it a go. Is there a video of what yall are running, with what upgrades?
Great series! Your channel has motivated me to get back on a bike again. Curious if you folks are running 100mm or 120mm travel on the front for this race?
It's definitely steeper than it looks on GoPro, but I think usually it is super wet and all the roots are slippery. In the dry, it rode probably more like a single black (at least in our opinion, since we're from the desert and much more comfortable in the dry haha. It was pretty loose though).
Any chance of adding a power meter (in watts), a heart rate and time overview to these? That would be so helpful and add another layer of understanding of what’s going on. 🙏
That looked like much more fun than yesterday's stage. Great race for both of you. You both made very wise decisions today. Quick question not related to the race. I've incorporated weight training into my routine. Squats, deadlifts, lunges, ect. How big of a game changer was this for you two? Thanks and best of luck in tomorrow's stage. Go get em!! 👍👊
amazing skills keep ud the good work.....can you please explain how to use the wahoo gps with the buttons on the right ? got a wahoo roam and would like to use it like you do if possible.....happy trails
We use the Stages Dash L200 cycling computer which can be used in portrait or landscape mode. There's a link to Stages (and a discount code) in the video description.
how much travel do you think one would need to race something like this? is 100mm enough for the gnarlier section descent? is 120mm too much for the smoother sections? It seems less travel would usually make up for slower descent on the flat/climb sections. Maybe less travel for the skilled rider, and more for the newer rider? Any thoughts? How much travel do you guys have? Thanks.
Our bikes are 100 rear, 120 front, which was a good balance for us! You are correct that a less skilled rider may want a bit more to ride some of the technical sections confidently.
Can't wait for Day 4? Watch it early on Patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/87187976
That drone footage was literally the coolest xc footage I've ever seen.
Yeah, that was pretty cool.
Yea!!! I was thinking the same thing. That was sweet. It was like a video game lol
Yeah it was also cool to see his posture, been watching him race for so long and not being able to see that so this was a treat
Check out Benton Drones or Anneke Beerten’s trail run footage for some great drone footage. It’s not of race, but showing trails and such. Good stuff.
I'm not sure that was a drone. At timestamp 12:58 you see a media bike on the right side of the screen that seems to launch behind Macky down the trail. Also at the end of the take you hear someone say "Good!", which I suppose was the media bike breaking off. Happy to stand corrected though...
You guys are making me want to do the race again! Such a awesome experience!
Another amazing video. Loved the follow cam footage of Macky. You guys rock!!
Did my first 50km Mtb race! Took me 5 hours but i made it! hahahah watching your videos inspired me to give it a go!
Congrats!
Another great race day. Echoing the Macky’s plea at the beginning, let’s bump this great channel over that 100k mark.
I commented this same thing then saw your comment. Come on everyone let’s get them 100k
Y'all have been doing a great job of making me actually think about my ride nutrition. I still do a bad job, but at least I'm thinking about how bad a job I'm doing.
🤣 that's the first step!
I need "Rocks...Yay" on a t-shirt.
100% would buy
I’d rock it
I would just like to let you know how great the footage is the stabilization and picture quality is fantastic. When you see a front end on of you guys you notice how much the camera bounces about. Top work.
Great stuff guys! Just wanted to say thank for NOT putting any sort of cheesy music during the ride POV shots. 👍
I love how the organizers had spotters on the tricky parts of the course calling out potential hazards. BCBR = class act!
Beautiful ride you two! 💗
You both are nuts. Being able to descend on technical trails after peaking your heart rate the entire time on those climbs is impressive. Love the content. keep it coming.

This is the best race footage ever, what a brutal course. Awesome job!
the most professional video i watch on mtb riding, well done and thank you. the inspiration keeps coming.
I'm addicted to these videos! I feel like I'm in the race with you guys, awesome shooting and you both have Mad skills! I just joined your patreon! Stay strong and keep racing!
I love you both. Super inspirational. Your love and care for each other is very refreshing to see.
Great job guys! Really enjoyed watching your efforts! Brought back a lot of (mostly) happy memories for me!
Very happy about the courtesy that other riders afforded you when it came to passing!
You guys seriously rock! I love your dedication to the sport and all your hard work, plus you go the extra mile and share it all on this channel 👍
Hey, just a heads up on the RUclips analytics, I watch your content from 3-5 different Google accounts. Ill make sure they're all subscribed cause that'll help, but multiple accounts might be something to consider in the analytics. You definitely have a loyal fan base 😊
Whoa! That drone footy was some of the sickest I’ve seen, especially in an XC pov! Great flying !
Your footage is awesome. The clarity is incredible. Much better than the footage from the BCBR. Keep up the good work.
The additional BCBR video clip was badass! Continued success to both of you😎👍🏼 Kissimmee, Fl
I just found yall. I subscribed and turned on notifications. Love what yall are doing. You guys are an amazing couple.
Totally enjoyed that follow cam of Mackyʻs ride through that one section.. Those sandwiches looked awesome Syd!
Good to see you plugging hydration - so important. And love that sarnie (uk speak for sandwich)!
Eeeeeeeasy subscriber. Footage is superb and you two are sharing the goods. Caught a few glimpses of you in Nanaimo and Cumberland on the last day. Looking forward to this.
DOES IT ROLL? - on front, YES IT DOES!! - on the back. And you have a perfect t-shirt :D
Amazing riding again both of you! Looked a bit cooler..... dustier though. Follow cam on Macky was the best. Way to place so far on these technical courses. Excellent video today....so exciting to watch...Thankyou! Good luck!

I sub'd! I broke my hand riding two weeks ago mountain biking and these vids are inspiring me to do the BCBR next year.
Another great video.
Love how the sandwich was just sitting on the mat (no paper plate or napkin) love it.
Lots of love from Texas.
🍻🍻🍀🍀
I mean, we'd been eating dust all morning, what's a little more 😂
Your cameras have looked EPIC this entire race series!
It's impressive to see what those NOBL wheels on an XC bike are capable of. Thanks!
Great video! Nice job to both of you on the race, that looked super technical!
Awesome seeing my local trails. You two rock! I love Maple on my hardtail, but hate it on the enduro rig. I saw your video preparing for this, and can’t believe what you run for tires. Minions at a minimum for me. Can’t wait to see what you think of Benson tomorrow.
This is such a good and inspiring series! I find myself checking my feed to see if the next day is out
That last pass by Syd was tremendous, shot out like a rocket .
Let’s get these two to 100k!!! I’m a long time subscriber, I love you Syd and macky
That is the coolest xc race I have ever seen. I love that they offered maple syrup shots on the course.
Great Video! I love your race videos! Keep at it!
Great video! The seven scoops of Skratch made my stomach turn.
It always amazes me how fast both of you ride unknown trails 👍
Really great video, guys! Wow!!😁
Congrats. That looks like a super technical, tough rocky section.
Great job you two, very exciting!!! Thanks for sharing!!
This has got to be the best and craziest tech race. I've watched you both race..Awsome Job🎉🎉🎉 you could just hear the pounding of your bikes were taking...🎉🎉🎉
Love the follow-cam of Mack!
Hope you get the 100k you guys do such a great job! Great racing as always!
Great Job from both of you, love the series!
Wonderful! And inspiring! Thank you!

one of my fav S and M vids!
Been awesome to watch. Love the format.
Also interesting to see Geoff kabush's name near the top still. It's been 23 years I have been watching his name in the top 10 of bc racing. I remember seeing his name in the whistler townie races back in the day.
Well done guys that looked hot dusty and a boat loads of fun 😊👍🙃
Love the footage and editing!
Such amazing coverage, vlog style and race footage. By chance thats the cockpit headunit set up, wahoo turned landscape with course profile data screen? Great to have each days profile loaded to see climbs, descends etc. Any insight appreciated :)
It's the Stages Dash and yes you can load the course with climb previews. Super helpful!
BTW There's a link (plus discount code) in the video description.
The FPV drone clip is insane!
OH my heck! Macky, see you putting sunscreen on the dome, makes sense, but, how do you keep it from running down into your eyes with sweat and blinding you with the sting?
Oval Chainring is good for the uphill parts 👍
Amazing trails, I'd race this type of XC myself anyday :D
WE LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DOING!! 😂
From Calgary, Alberta. Formerly Vancouver.
Fantastic. I am exhausted.
Just awesome !!! Better flow on this one !
Such a great video, your video production was great in this video. I really hope you reach your 100k subscribers in the near future. Keep the great videos coming! It will happen!
Epic. Obviously. Well done. 👊
Dang I don’t know how you guys even see where the trail is sometimes! 👍🚴♂️
Man, I've learned alot through following yall. Enough for me to invest in a trial bike and give it a go. Is there a video of what yall are running, with what upgrades?
Right on! These are our current XC rides: ruclips.net/video/2ptiMxA_THM/видео.html
Amazing trails. Great riding/racing!
Great series! Your channel has motivated me to get back on a bike again. Curious if you folks are running 100mm or 120mm travel on the front for this race?
120mm
Keep up the great work guys!
Why the double black ? Is there something sketchy I'm missing?
Looks like an amazing ride
It's definitely steeper than it looks on GoPro, but I think usually it is super wet and all the roots are slippery. In the dry, it rode probably more like a single black (at least in our opinion, since we're from the desert and much more comfortable in the dry haha. It was pretty loose though).

What are those storage bins in the back of your SUV? I could use something like that!
Go get em!! 👍👊
The fact that you two do not have a million subscribers is criminal. Come on viewers!
Love y’all! So inspirational!!
Awesome effort..
Gotta love the Macky Mantra! Its the best!
Loved the water bottle cut edit! I thought Syd was riding her custom painted frame, but that looks like an all black prototype sort of thing?
It's my XC bike (Niner RKT). My custom painted bike is my trail bike, so a bit big for this race!
Thanks for the reply! Tell Niner that frame needs some Syd bling!!!
Awesome video once again guys!! Question, Is that an aftermarket suspension lock out on the left handlebar??
I just cant race in the heat....its just too thick for my blood....lol...man those downhills are no joke!
That looks really brutal on the arms.
amazing skills keep ud the good work.....can you please explain how to use the wahoo gps with the buttons on the right ? got a wahoo roam and would like to use it like you do if possible.....happy trails
We use the Stages Dash L200 cycling computer which can be used in portrait or landscape mode. There's a link to Stages (and a discount code) in the video description.
Great videos. Do the two of you run tubeless? what tire pressures do you run in rocky rooty trails?
Awesome riding Syd and Macky! Thx😅
how much travel do you think one would need to race something like this? is 100mm enough for the gnarlier section descent? is 120mm too much for the smoother sections? Awesome videos always keeping it real. 👍
I’m subscribed ! Cmon let’s get the channel over 100k
Great Chase Shot Nice!!!!!!!
Dig the intro and accompanying music
That was the coolest stage but man, Maple Syrup is a rough one 🫣 My arms are still cramping 😣
Could you see a “down country” bike excelling more on a race like this or is the light weight and added sketchiness of a XC race bike still worth it?
What is the product you put in your drink bottle at the beginning of the vid?
Skratch Super High Carb:
shop.skratchlabs.com/SYDANDMACKY (use code SYDANDMACKY for 20% off your first order)
Thanks, Great vids, Watching from New Zealand
I would say some of the sections you would need a enduro bike to make though holy moly great job guys
Go TEAM YELLOW BOTTLE CAP and TEAM BLUE BOTTLE CAP. We are pulling for y'all. 🎉🏁
Love it! keep killing it guys!
