And so it begins! Exciting because I always wanted to do this trip. Thank you Jordan and Scott! By the way, the song about getting your kicks was recorded by Bobby Troup who was from here where I live. In fact my mother worked for his father at Troups Music House which was a record and music store. And whenever his son would come to town he always came to the store to say hello. Mom said he always wore a turtleneck shirt. Whenever we watched the show Emergency she would point him out!
Great locations, very interesting to see. The bean reminds me of the spaceship from the'flight of the navigator movie'.I'm looking forward to day 2. Cheers, Jordan .
The thought of Bill Murray staring at that picture, an thinking about waking up an there being another day... Maybe thats why he played in the movie " Groundhogs Day " !! lol
Love you two together! Route 66 runs through my town! Bloomington IL and my granddaughter lives in Wheaton newly married! It's so cool up there! Thanks!
In three years 100th anniversary of Route 66...my plan is to do the whole route then. But... In the meantime...cannot find enough words to tell you how much I love you and Scott taking this adventure together! 💪❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Stopped at the Joliat prison a couple weeks ago. Very interesting. I think the white Corvette you saw at the Joliat visitor center was from the Route 66 TV show from the 1960s. The first Dairy Queen was on Route 66 in Joliat, not too far from the prison. Nothing in the building there except for a little sign.
I’ve lived in Chicago all my life and have often been to so many of these wonderful places. I wish I could have met up with you on this trip. Happy trails and hope you “get your kicks on Route 66” Jordan our ol’ pal!
I grew up in Chicago & I remember first seeing Sunday On The Grand when I was in kindergarten at Schubert School on the Northwest side. I was intrigued when our teacher Mrs. Sears told us it was painted solely from dots. That was almost 54 years ago & I've never forgotten that. Still intrigues me actually. What talent. I also went to a wedding in 2005 at the diamond building, it was exquisite. And Buckingham Fountain wasn't on yet? It's never later than Memorial Day. Uh oh! I never knew there was a peice of Edinburgh Castle in the Tribune tower. Edinburgh is my favorite place in the world....besides my hometown of Chicago.😉
Jordan, I couldn't believe it when you started walking toward that painting. When I was there several years ago I had to come back to it at least three times! I couldn't stop marveling at it, almost like I was never going to be able to take it all in and I don't know why. There is just something about that woman, that painting, and I can see why Bill Murray was so affected by it.
I remember on my high school senior class trip I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and they were having a Surat exhibit with all his paintings. As a artist myself that museum blew me away. I would like to go back again.
I love this! I can feel and see the great energy and fun your having with Scott on this Route 66 Journey....Looking forward to watching each day of your trip!😊✌️
Superb v/log Jordan. I've seen your past ones on Route66, and I'm hooked on this. I'm a retired Pensioner in Scotland and this trip is top of my bucket list.
As a native Chicagoan, you did a great job vlogging Downtown Chicago and the Art Institute, etc. I've been to Del Rhea's Chicken Basket several times over the years but I do remember going there back in the 1950's with all of our neighbors. We lived on the southwest side of the city so it was a little bit of a road trip for us. Good memories, good times! My brother-in-law's brother was an extra in the Blues Brothers. He was a Chicago cop in real life. Thanks for sharing - you always do a great job!
Another anecdote: Berwyn is famous for the host of an old horror movie show that showed old horror movies along with the schtick of the host, Svengoolie! Sven is still on - on METV on Saturday nights.
Hi Jordan and Scott, well, what a superb start to the roadtrip. There were some really beautiful paintings in that Gallery. That house had a stunning front garden with the flowers. Always lovely to meet other Lionhearts. Great vlog Jordan.
Wow so great to see you and Scott together, what a blast. Loved the Blues Brothers, big fan of both actors. Loved all your sites be safe you two can’t wait to see more😻😎🐾
Love this! I used to live in Chicago and miss it so much!❤ I have always wanted to travel the entire Route 66. So fun to see you and Scott doing this trip together!💕
I graduated from Nathan Hale HS in Tulsa Oklahoma a famous Route 66 destination Paul McCartney loved so much he played Tulsa twice at BOK center. I seen him both times he was phenomenal
Hi Jordan, and Mr. Scott Michaels. thank you for taking us on you Route 66 journey we are so looking forward to it. Also Jordan we enjoyed the great other videos you posted like Mable Normand, showing us where you used to live, Ted Danson, the Dalton House and tunnel, and the Jesse James, loved the Doris Day, the Calvory collection was good, and you trip with your girlfriend to the Spam museum, that was interesting. Colonel Sanders was interesting as well. Most of all we love the fact your Papaw is doing better. We are very happy for you and your family. also Jordan it looks like you only need 10 more subscribes to be at 300K subscribes. That is so awesome. Can't wait to see tomorrows Route 66 video, you and Scott have a great day.
So excited for this. Ferris Bueller's day off is my favorite movie so seeing that painting at the start was amazing. Such a meaningful scene too. Enjoy Jordan and friends!
Scott Michaels is right, Jordan. It’s always a great education seeing your videos. I thoroughly enjoyed this first stop. You showed so much in just a few minutes. Lucky family to spend some time with you guys too. Bless their hearts and bless you and Scott too. 🙏🏻❤️😎💎
Excited to see your Route 66 journey ❤️ So nice of you to meet up with one of your long time subscriber supporters! Would love to meet you at the end of the line in Santa Monica, not sure if you're going to go all the way to the end, and when .. I hope I am here if you do ❤ safe travels to you and Scott!
having been born/raised in chicago, I always appreciated when I went to the Art Institute and Orchestra Hall which was right across the street and the Goodman Theatre was a couple blocks over, all were in Grant Park.
Jordan and Scott- what a great video of Chicago and Route 66. I’m thinking of doing this run next year. By watching you two. It will let me know what is interesting to see. Thanks and safe travels
My Dad died in 2002, but he told me a great story when I was a teenager in the 80's. My Dad graduated high school in 1956 from Carl Sandberg high in Orland Park, IL. That same year, his Grandpa retired from International Harvester in Chicago. His Grandpa bought a place in Gardena, CA, to retire at. So, in the fall of 1956, they headed out to L.A. down from Chicago down Route 66. Grandpa and Grandson on a journey. I can only imagine how in looked and felt back then. They veered of track to stop in Las Vegas for a couple of days. Can you imagine? They did it in a 1954 Crown Victoria.
Seeing that statue of Jack Brickhouse bought back many memories for me since I've been a LOYAL Cubs fan since going to my 1st game back in 1966! One of the most memorable lines from Jack was when Milt Pappas was pitching his Perfecto (The ump robbed him with a bad call) when a ball was hit to left center field and Bill North slipped on the grass but HOFer Sweet Swinging Billy Williams came out of nowhere to make the catch! Jack lost his voice on that call alone " bill north slips and falls down but billy williams comes outta nowhere to make THE CATCH!!"
Had a few family members and my next to youngest bro who worked at THE BIG HOUSE until it closed down! Man the stories they would tell about this great piece of history! I've done Alcatraz a few times, but when I go back home, I'm gonna take the tour.
hi Jordan and Scott Michaels , enjoy your travels on route 66 .i been watching the old vlogs with dearly departed an Jordan tours. that was cool seeing your viewers
What an amazing start to the trip!!! So much to take in - all of it terrific. Thank you Jordan and Scott. Also, as our family are overseas viewers and can't attend meet ups, it's always great to meet fellow Lion Hearts.
The giant guy with the chicken and hot sauce is Muffler Man that has been recycled. You will see a number of converted Muffler Men on Route 66. Keep your eyes open for more.
So glad you’re finally doing Route 66. I remember asking if you were interested in doing this trip on a livestream and you weren’t at the time but I’m so happy you had a change of heart
You are correct is pronouncing it "root 66", but I hate to tell your Jordan, but in the song it is also pronounced "root 66" not "rout 66". Enjoy your trip!.
Hi Jordan & Scott, What a way to start your trip on Route 66. I really enjoyed the art museum. It was nice to see a long time fan of your channel & her family. I am familiar with Scott’s channel as well. Have watched quite a few of his vlogs. Good to see you both enjoying the ride 😃

10:36 “BERRRR-WYNN?” 🤣
Sorry, I had to. If you’ve ever seen Screaming Yellow Theater, Son of Svengoolie, or modern day Svengoolie, you know.
I was an art history student so viewing these paintings for me is the best part of your trip. Thank you Jordan!
"Berwyn..." You gotta mention Svengoolie :)
Yes thanks I got to do this.❤
