Thanks Jade! I think I do need to work on shame attacks or embarrassing myself on purpose and just feeling the embarrassment. Easier said than done, ya know, but I am going to try. I have always been scared of being embarrassed and being judged by others, but once ocd started it got a lot worse. So I’m going to try- and hopefully get to a place where I don’t care as much about what people think about me. I might be working on this for the rest of my life, but I’m going to persevere. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question! :)
That makes so much sense - if it was an area you struggled with away from ocd it’s bound to latch there (from my personal experience of how it morphs) - your mindset sounds really great here, flexible and accepting but also determined. I believe in you ❤
I'm not sure where we can post our requests for topics we would like to hear about, but I'm going to put it here: * Avoidance of certain tasks at certain times, due to OCD. It's usually unwanted avoidance, b/c I usually really want to do the thing, but I'm experiencing demand resistance. * A discussion about how to overcome/decrease Limerence (real OCD limerence, not fantasy) and not Romantic OCD, which is different. LImerence is unwanted, intrusive obsessions about the limerent object, when you do not want to think about that person at all. You also do not need to be in a relationship with the person in order to be limerent. LImerence is pathological when the relationshp ends, but the limerence increases, as do other symptoms besides obsessions. * Tourette's syndrome vs OCD Body Tics.
Hi Jade - I'm not sure what things to say yes to and what to say no to. I'm trying to recover from bad ocd (housebound for months, not working for a year, still currently unemployed) but im not sure whether saying 'yes' to some things would be too far a leap. How do you navigate this stage of recovery, whether to take things slow or go all in?
Hey Ellen! So there’s no blue print for this - we obviously can’t have it all figured out in one, but best piece of advice - no need to take it slow, especially as we imagine.
Hi there I wasn’t on medication during the journey mainly because I didn’t know I had ocd - I’ll touch on this in my next Q&A video to give a bit more background
Hey great video thanks! I’ve been suffering with harm ocd since I had a nervous breakdown 19 months ago. It’s gotten better but then kind of worse too, I don’t have any compulsions as such but I think I ruminate a lot and constantly check for the thoughts. Is there anything I can do to stop this and just to lose the fear? Thanks
Hi! I'm now at a point where my anxiety only happens every once in a while. I can go days without anxiety but then suddenly I have an intrusive thought and I feel locked back. I find it very hard to not engage with my thoughts at such times because it's so in the foreground. I find myself half-reassuring myself. (starting a reassuring sentence but not finishing it because I know it's a compulsion) Eventually it dies down but usually because of this reassuring behavior. Do you have any tips to deal with this anxiety? It always makes me very exhausted and to avoid that exhaustion I give in. Thanks 🙏
Giving in is the problem! If you can resist it is 🔑 Sometimes mental rumination is automatic till the fear comes down more, this is why we work on gradually changing our perspectives.
"The house feels safe until it doesn't" I agree! Nothing is ever enough

We can definitely do that!

Hi Jade, What medications, if any, were you on to help with OCD, and are you on any now? Thank you.

Hey Stephi! So that internal checking will usually fire until the fear comes down!
@@aguywhohikes1271 thank you! I need to work on losing the fear then 😅
Hi Stephi, sorry to hear this I know how you’re feeling all too well. I’ll make sure I cover this in my next Q&A video so keep an eye out 😊

Jade, do you have experience with Health OCD related to fear of exhaustion?
Jade has spoken about that in her videos, fear of being overwhelmed is one she’s had a few times.
@@OCDRecovery Thank you kindly :)
Hi Ryan. Yes, and currently exhausted in actuality so can give some nice perspective on this in my next Q&A! Keep an eye out for it on the channel 😊
