To be clear. A person with Harm OCD is not suppressing urges to hurt others they are often very compassionate people. Harm OCD can play tricks on one's mind and if they don't understand what is happening, they may buy into it. This was a huge breakthrough for me to understand people with this disorder do NOT desire to hurt innocent people. Most in fact truly want good for themselves and others. Harm OCD can cause people to think FALSE horrible things about themselves and others, but they don't actually believe or desire these things...Harm OCD is more of a fear of these thoughts. It is bullying one's self. This is ENTIRELY different from a lust for blood being suppressed. So when these people think a terrible thought, is this what they desire to happen? No way! Otherwise it would be fantasizing. They can freak out and panic if they don't understand it or know how to control it! This is because it's the last thing they want to happen or even think about. Understand the difference?
@Matt Bar , Very much true. This fear creates lot of panic and cause breakdown to the person. Also, when it happens at young age, it will be difficult for them to understand it, leave aside, how to control it.
It’s like “what if I actually want to do something bad and serve life and be away from my family? What have I got to lose? I feel hated anyway” OCD comes from self hatred
Heard this term by accident while watching the "I spend a day with BPD" series of Anthony... I'm so grateful someone suggested him to do another episode with people who have Harm OCD. I've never heard about this and I feel like, I can relate and that, well, this is a chance to understand more about myself. Looking forward to watching this :)
Okay, someone who is suffering from Harm OCD, THE LAST THING I WANT to see or hear from a therapist is that they are uncertain of someone losing control. You don't understand the kind of anxiety it can spiral for someone suffering from Harm OCD since this is our biggest fear. My feedback, please find other words to say these things as this can be extremely disturbing.
So true. When I hear people say they are uncertain or someone could possibly lose control even if it’s just 1% of people. My mind goes crazy and thinks that it’s going to be me.
Very true. That part scared me too! As a father u would never want to hear them say that! I've been dealing with Harm OCD and it's not easy to deal with. But we are not are thoughts! God Bless 🙌
I agree. Someone esle had told me that there is an uncertainty that you may or may not act out those intrusive thoughts and that definitely terrified me.
Sorry guys... you've got good info but the questions starting right out the gate is unfortunate. Wonder if there could be a mid point and end point for Q&A. I've tried to a few of your webinars but that's something that I find really disrupts the flow of information. A lot of times questions are answered through the information presented and Q&As are at the end for anything not covered.
I lost it at 10 minutes when the “therapist” said - Do they deserve to be punished if they behaviourally HARM the child. YES. This is not what one should say to somebody with ocd at all.
@@spencer_fife_and_drum_john9152 I’ve been praying every time before I sleep and I eat and it doesn’t feel like it’s helping but I do feel happiness and safe after, God bless you!😊

That helps a lot! Matt, do you have an email that I can ask you a question
It’s like “what if I actually want to do something bad and serve life and be away from my family? What have I got to lose? I feel hated anyway” OCD comes from self hatred
Its cureable or not pls tell me
Very true. I only want good for people
And myself. I want to get better so bad.

@@its_jon_g6142 hows that going is there a way to cure this? Safe medication something?

this was an awful, amateurish, unprofessional presentation
First it was constantly needing things my own way, then the fear of cheating, hurting others emotionally, now it’s turned into harm
I wonder if any of these therapists suffer from Harm OCD themselves?

Hearing about it’s not certain if you’ll act on stuff I freaked out
The title for the Webinar is inappropriate and shouldn’t be used to represent the topics. 😖
this is the stuff people struggle with.
This info session is a great ERP session lmao
What could I do when I got two words and meanings that are popping up into my head which are bothering me what should I
What kind of thoughts and or meaning are you asking about? Just wondering. Thanks
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Wow.. thanks

fear of saying something racially inappropriate in the US in 2019 isn't only an OCD symptom, especially in California lol
lol I went to uni in berkeley and all I can say is Amen to that.
Yes bc anything is racist today.
I understand that fear mainly because leftist are crazy & make anything racist. It's a very rational fear
@@Itooaminthisepisode RIP lol

Jesus is the only cure i promise
