Monolith are just a scarier version of combine from half-life 2 and i fuckin love it, its an amazing faction i have ever encounter in my gameplay experience....
and worst of all that the monolith is right in the stalker saga if the monolith is not extinguished 90% of humanity becomes subspecies that would start wars for who is the best until only one species will dominate the world by Blame for the expansion of the anomalies, and if the monolith becomes extinct, humanity follows its normal course but it would stop adapting to the new world, therefore it would be doomed to extinction due to the lack of natural resources on earth, I think it is the lore of the monolith.
It was the beta plan for the lore. There was supposed to be only 2 endings with the player choosing to either activate or destroy the monolith which was an ancient alien artifact that had the purpose of advancing human evolution, this was made even before there were plans for c-consciousness. This idea got scrapped tho.

C-Conciousness is trying to manipulate Noosphere to remove evil from humanity. It's all about Conciousness and forced evolution of it.
