Aptera falls squarely into the new category of "Auto-Cycle" which was created a few years ago, specifically for three wheeled vehicles. Thanks for your Aptera efforts Kevin, my wife and I are pre-order holders and small investors too!
Fundamentally, is better than a car, because car is what you don't need most of the time. Most of the time you need a safe, comfortable and reliable way of transportation.
If I get T-boned by a big SUV in one of these things, is that bumper gonna instantly behead me at that height? I'm concerned that's exactly where the side windows are placed and will have the least amount of protection from the composite panels.
@@MikeTrieu Thanks for your question. Aptera is very concerned about safety. Even though it is technically an autocycle, the website says, "We are designing to meet or exceed many FMVSS passenger car standards. We will not know Aptera’s actual rating until we pass a production vehicle through the full safety tests." Best wishes.
Great question Champinote. Here is a statement in the FAQ section of Aptera's website. (aptera.us/faq/How does Aptera handle in the snow and cold weather?): "With all-wheel-drive and vectorized torque control, Aptera handles beautifully in the snow and ice. We are designing specifically for a lot of the cold countries that love electric vehicles. The Aptera will have a full climate control system capable down to -20 and up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit. With our sandwich core composites body offering great insulation and a nice heater, it’s very comfortable to drive in the winter."
Minor nits: "Single speed driving" should be "single pedal driving"? The solar charging range will be barely over 20 in the northern continental US, and who knows how much below that in Alaska: We want to be careful to never oversell any Aptera features, and to always set accurate and realistic customer expectations.
By the way, is this Bob Cunningham? I've been trying to find you on LinkedIn. I have enjoyed your thoughtful comments on various platforms. My LinkedIn name is simply "Kevin Bleau". Thanks.
The rear wheel leans with body roll, a big no-no! Four-wheeled cars have rear suspension specifically designed to keep the outside wheel straight up and down with the road for optimal grip. Aptera is specifically designed to de-camber it with body roll in order to loose grip. And not power through a corner.
Right vic321344! Your insurance and registration will be much less expensive than for a car. But in reality Aptera is so much more than a motorcycle! For example, much more protected from weather and impacts.
it is registered as a motorcycle in most states. check your local DMV. It's technically a autocycle category. Many express lanes and HOV roads offer FREE tolls too!!!

You said it! Big cars and SUVs are overkill for most situations.

Then why do you chose a flimsy 3 wheeled motorcycle?
Nice car
Glad you like it Randy! Have you pre-ordered your Aptera? Use this link for $30 off ($70 total) lz953.isrefer.com/go/preorder/a32407
How about an Aptera when you live in Canada, juste like me. With cold winter and lot of snow. Has it been tested?
Nice little beast aniway. 🙂

Really awesome vehicle. Every apartment dwellers perfect first EV for open street parking. 👌
Yes indeed!

True, Bob. Thanks!

The bodies won't be 3-D printed. They will be formed in molds.
I stand corrected. Thanks Robert!
It may or may not be a car but it's an excellent vehicle.
Thanks so much Jonathan!
Excellence is on the eye of the beholder.

@@kevinbleau3846 Yes, you are protected from weather. Like in a BMW C1. But you are not protected from crashes. When you cant escape the cell.
For some of my bikes I pay more insurance and tax than for my cars.

@@ModernSunlight You got an advantage when using express lanes, you got a disadvantage when using small suburban roads.
ok so it's a boring f*ing car, we get it lol
Joseph, you are the first person I have ever heard call Aptera boring!
